Most of the "people" you see on billboards for example don't even "exist" as you see them. Notice how little effort it takes to edit the neckline, thin the face and enlarge the eyes. She looks almost like an alien in the end which is not very natural compared to what she looked like before the whole process.

Personally I don't think half the models in the world are beautiful because of things like this. I'd rather see a real person rather than what hours of make up artists, hair stylist, and photo editors can do. I think my gf looks beautiful without make up and her hair done up all nice but she always does it on to look good for society. I suppose I'm guilty of trying to change myself to look good but who doesn't? Though I don't spend but a few minutes making sure I look decent before leaving the house.. The Rococo period, in which everything was painted as it should be, and not how it was. And the late 1800's to early 1900's. Mostly in France and Britain, where the upper class wore corsets, and fancy dresses and hats, all to appear as they should, and not how they were. The same goes for their manners. Their basic thought process, the throughts they kept to themselves in otherwords, were the only thing unchanged until today. You can alter your outward appearance all you want, but when it comes down to it, it's your inward one that really matters. :roll: The social norm of today. It disgusts me. But then again, I fall back on my own regiment. Because I see these things as slightly important myself. Looks, manners, and your background can really speak for yourself. And in an society where all that generally matters are those 3 things, judgement can be very biased. Me doing staff.

October 23, 200619 yr Yeah... I really hate society's standard of beauty today. Trust me, some people say, "Kayla, don't use such a strong word", but I HATE society's standard of what is "beautiful". I could go on and on and on about how much I hate it and how unreasonable it is. I often think about it so much, it's depressing.

Working out and being sexy for example is good because the exercise makes you feel mentally good (kind of like a natural high) and the physical effects are feeling physically better among other things.
