RPGoof
I think it would be cool to make a new island in the game that uses a different currency that can only be used on that island. On that island, there would be a group of theives that know how to make conterfit money, so you doa a quest and whatever and you can make counterfit (that island's currency) money out of a 'crude mold' and a silver bar. Making these could expand your theiving and whatnot. It's a bit of a simple idea, I'd like some ideas on how to exapnd on it. Thats what the Tzaar Caves are but, Doing that and having some expensive items there would help the money drain, put some rare items in the shops, 100000 silver ea, (10 silver coins per bar), make em awesome and nontradeable. Give a bit of smithing exp too. PS: I spell checked your post, just puttin it out there. Sig

oreocookie987
maybe elaborate a little, its hard to get at what you're sayin here :? He's saying that there should be a new area that uses a special currency (like Tokkul in Tzhaar City or Trading Sticks in Tai Bwo Wannai), only you can make the currency yourself with Silver after completing a Quest. Its a good idea, but you should put a lot more work into it. For example, a small write up for the Quest, or what the currency is used for. Expecting a good life because you're a good person is like expecting a bull not to charge because you're a vegetarian.
no_username4
There should be items only attainable there, some non tradeable. Also, use the island(or whatever) as a base for more quests. Counterfeiting would be the major way to get money there. Thus, more and more quests would be based off this. Could this be made a money drain of some sort? Counterfeiting would be the major way to get money there. Thus, more and more quests would be based off this. Could this be made a money drain of some sort? I think it could. Nowhere on runescape is a relativly safe spot for massive silver mining other then Al Kharid (remove 1 rock) and the Crafting Guild (remove 3?). Those would quickly fill up, so how about a special furnace on the island for the sole purpose of counterfeitting, as well as a mine with a lot of silver (16 rocks?). Make it that you have to pay 2500gp for every 5 minutes you want to be in that mine (hey, they're pirates arent they?). Make the items purchased rather cool, but still tradable (so people would want to get more then 1 of each item). Then to use the furnace on the Island you would have to pay a bit of GP as well (250gp per time you go in). The new currency would be stackable, but if as you say, each silver bar will get you 10 silver pieces, it would cost you 2500 + 250gp to have 1 inventory smelted, while having the silverpieces and the mould in inventory, it would get you 26 times 10 silverpieces for every 2750gp you invest. You could then proceed to determine prices and coolness and usefullness of the items that can be bought. Any excess silver that you wish to convert back to normal gp can be done at a traders post, at the exchange rate of 5gp for each silverpiece. If you put no bank on the island, this could actually work (not to mention the obvious fee you need to pay the pirates at Brimhaven or Mos le'Harmless (only they know the location of the island) to actually get to the island). no_username4
It wouldn't make sense to counterfeit at a loss. Probably the currency shouldn't be interchangeable(counterfeit is the only good way to get it, besides buying from players) so while economically you would be making money with this, it would still be a money drain in that the people who buy the counterfeit or items(from the island) are taking a loss.
