ZipZap17
Most people in Runescape have really high attack and strength, and completely forget about defence. I have everything as equal as possible. everybody I talk to that says their combat skills, has their strength highest, defence lowest, and attack in the middle. Is this a good strategy? People say I hit low because my strength is only 58. Most lvl 70s like me have their strength 60-65 and defence around 40-50. If your strength is high and defence is low, it doesn't matter what your strength is if you die before you get to hit any major damage. Is there anything im missing thats really great about high strength and low defence? I don't think it makes any sense.(Feel free to disagree) :-k If trees could scream, would we cut them down? Maybe, if they did it all the time for no reason.
hellbellz
It's called being a pure. Low combat that'll hit high. EDIT: Yes, I guess you'd be crazy.. Well sort of
Weird_Piggy
In my opinion, it really matters what you want to do. If you plan on PKing with a large group / clan, high Str is better. If everyone ina group has high str, you have a good chance to kill a player before he can do anything. If you are looking for a good DMing character most people say Def > Atk > Str or Atk > Def > Str. In F2P I would personally sugest high Def, as DMing is better than F2P pking (what isn't?). Really, it all matters what you want. Currently: Skilling
Eyrelex
I train everything equally, the reason why most of those people do that is because they pk so that they can have a low combat but hit high. Check out my Pocket Slot idea!
oreocookie987
Sometimes it doesn't make sense to me either. My Attack, Strength, Defense, and Hits are all at 73, only exception being 74 Defense. I guess some people just like Strength a lot :-k Expecting a good life because you're a good person is like expecting a bull not to charge because you're a vegetarian. xvillexvalox
I keep att and def the same, str lower 1. I like using my whip 2. Hitting often and getting barely hit is great for npc fighting My stats are 74, 71, 74 It took me a while to decide to raise str from 70-71 But I agree with the others, you need str higher than att and def for pking, I know because I couldn't possibly stink at it more.
chigatana
I keep att and def the same, str lower I keep def and str the same and att higher. I'm currently 66 (nearly 67), 60, 60. MAybe I'm the crazy one here :uhh: :anxious:
icecube
Another reason for high strength, at least for F2P edgeville pkers, is the KO. Without a high maximum high, you would not be able to kill anyone before the ran or teleported in edgeville F2P pking.
Haitovich
I train equally. I don't really need pking stats, I prefer to focus on skills and use combat either to save me money (with skills like herblore) or doing quests MY BEST ITEM IS A BRONSE COIN! I KILLED ZEZIMA AND HE DROPED IT!
Dragon_Scyth
I have always had my str higher but now that it is 90 i think it is high enough so ill be getting my attack to 99 first as i think it will be more of an advantage. Sumpta
I try to keep the three at the same level. I have 84 att, 86 str, 84 def and 85 hp or something in that range (too lazy to look it up). I love high defense, it makes slayer a lot easier. I'm very fond of the controlled option of the whip. It makes training combat less frustrating, because you gain levels in succession. digitalstick
it completely depends on what you do and if you're a member. First of all, if you don't pk, there's no point in higher certain stat so you should keep it all equal. Members don't need as high a strength because member wepons already do enough damage to not make that much of a difference. If you pk in F2P, even the best weapon doesn't hit well through rune and attack doesn't help that much so people with higher strength has a chance of getting in 2 or 3 consecutive high hits to kill people that doesn't safe eat (because the best food in F2P is swordies but most people carry lobbies, which only heal 12, so a few consecutive 17s and 18s would kill the person even if he eats). n518978914
You aren't crazy but maybe just wasting time leveling all stats. It takes time to raise stats, no one will disagree, so why not use the time spent on defence on strength and attack? You can always raise defence once you're lvl 99 in the others. ME, I'm crazy because I like it when the numbers are all even...... Happy RS-ing!

For a high Combat level. If you want to be say level 100, you're wasting massive amounts of time leveling just Strength at 15 levels above everything else, and for what, a 3 hits higher damage? I keep mine all even (80) because I want the Combat level above everything else. If you just remember, anyone with the same combat level (this is just for melee) is completely equal to you, no matter if you've got 90 Strength, 1 Defense and 1 Attack if they have 90 Defense, 1 Strength and 1 Attack. If you both had no food and no Prayers then you should theoreticly die at the same time.
nightwolf06
Your not crazy it's just some people decided to play the game differently from others so they could go pk'ing etc as pures usually hit quite high. Personally I have 54 defence and strength while my attack is 60...hopefully I'll be able to get strength and defence to 60 ebcause I wanted to get a dragon longsword lol. Don't worry about everyone else. It's how you play that counts. =]

Many pures avoid Hp levels so they'll have more attack + strength. When people focus on Attack and Strength, they're looking at PvP builds. Most people do PvP builds because at some point they want to PK. People who go all around, or almost all equal stats, just want higher combat or the ability to weild everything.
