superway25
I was thinking for using willows but everyone is saying to just use yews. Yews cost alot more. Are yews worth it being f2p and its difficult to make gp. I have about 12.5m right now. Using a calc for 99 I would need: 139,567 willows@30ea=4,187,010 gp or 62,030 yews@280ea=17,368,400 gp Is a 13.18m difference and more money than I have worth it for yews? If anyone says yews could you tell me something to merch to get that kind of money on f2p. I would cut some yews if they macroers weren't all over them, but I cant get many fast enough. noname713
Just buy willows from f2p general stores in varrock or lumby for 12 each and burn em there. Walking from the end of your line of fire to the store owners is more or less the same as walking from the end of your line of fire to the bankers. Plus it only costs you 1,674,804 gp this way  Just wondering though...why exactly do you want 99 fm if you're f2p? :-k Fear the frog reaper. Hypercubes make the frog reaper happy ^_^ Or else I shall feast upon your soul!!!

fx1970
Why don't you cut your own log? You will need the wc xp anyway, and it is better to buy logs to fletch than to burn. You also avoid the banking problem So wc for fm, buy for fletch
nikoli40
Well, if you have the money, go yews, fast and simple, if you don't, just se willows, they are cheap but would take longer to get the lvls desired. My Main
twr_phr33k
Yew, but cut them. Gain FM xp and WC xp at the same time. Who cares about the macros. Just find a world without them. Edgeville yew cutting usually does not contain many autoers compared to Varrock Castle.

n518978914
OK I don't want to bring the Z-name up but I saw Zezima working hard on willows not once but twice within a certain week so........ Happy RS-ing!
PhelimReagh
Eventually, if you ever want to go for 99 WC, the recommended method is cutting Willows. So why not just go someplace quiet and cut and burn willows to kill multiple birds with one stone? Your WC level is good enough to make it go quite fast. If not, buy Willows in Varrock and burn in the square. Cheapest way.
PhelimReagh
OK I don't want to bring the Z-name up but I saw [him] working hard on willows not once but twice within a certain week so........ All the high levels are working hard to pick up bird's eggs... Hunting is coming out soon... Hmmm, I wonder...
Goobore
I was thinking for using willows but everyone is saying to just use yews. You might want to check the Firemaking level of the people that post. I would give more weight to the advice of a high F2P Firestarter over a lower level player and even over a P2P player. (Since tree log availability is different on member worlds) Btw, my own Firestarting level is 80 in F2P Yews cost alot more. Are yews worth it being f2p... What do you mean when you say "worth"? Yews vs Willows is a tradeoff between Money and Time. If you want to get 99 as fast as possible (why?) then use Yew. If you want to get 99 using your limited money then use Willow. Btw, the 99 cape is P2P members only. Using a calc for 99 I would need: 139,567 willows@30ea=4,187,010 gp or 62,030 yews@280ea=17,368,400 gp Oops. A little error there. Willows cost only 12 gp from the Rimmington and Lumbridge general stores. So, to go from (your) level 65.52 to 99 would cost 1,674,804 gp. (as noname713 pointed out) Is a 13.18m difference and more money than I have worth it for yews? Only you can decide the "worth" of it. Personally, I would rather get 99 Firemaking cheaply and then spend my money on rasing a skill that can earn me some money. (Like smithing) I would cut some yews if they macroers weren't all over them, but I cant get many fast enough. Exactly, yews are "slow" But you can usually buy many. many willows in the general stores for 12 gp each. Rimmington and Lumbridge usually have many for sale. If the servers just reset then you may have to wait a day or two before enough are available. You can always world hop to get the best prices in the quantities that you need. Hope this helps
Headnazgul
Using willows, burning 5 hours per day, it would take you 37 days to get 99. Using yews, burning 5 hours per day, it would take you 17 days to get 99. It still comes down to which you prefer, time or money. I bet you'd throw in the towel long before reaching 99 with willows though. I doubt I could last 37 days of firemaking, let alone all those days spent trying to buy willow logs out of a general store... But, if maples are still tradable on f2p (they were in the past, I can't remember if they ever changed it), I suggest you ask some p2p friends to help you find some sellers. Maples are a perfect blend between short time and cheap xp. 80 to 100 gp each and 135 firemaking xp per log make them great for firemaking. I am currently burning 44k maples for my own 99 firemaking.
