BodomofFilth
Anybody like Children Of Bodom, Cradle of Filth, Lamb of God, or Dissection? Best of em all...SPICE GIRLS!
Poopingman
Lamb of God hardly belongs in this categorization. They're a bit too generic IMO. The rest seems good. Add Norther, Kalmah, and Skyfire to this list. Metal fans, check out my band!Still the King....
Gamemonster
I think cradle of filth is more black metal than Death metal u forgot opeth there also death metal
megadedhed
opeth is more prog/mello/death metal. How ould you forget Arch Enemy, (New)Carcass, Hypocrisy, Strapping Young Lad, and In Flames. supermonk
Ugh, why do you have to break everything down into these stupid categories?! Supermonk, proving you wrong since 1992. Supermonk rocks, I want to have his children.Music is like candy. You always get rid of the rapper.

I really wouldn't consider strapping young lad death metal...In Flames is a great poster-child for the genre, however. Metal fans, check out my band!Still the King.... Poopingman
I forgot 1 band God Forbid Ooh nice call! Not really death metal...more like metalcore. But definetly a good example! They rock! Nadril
I think cradle of filth is more black metal than Death metal u forgot opeth there also death metal  . Anyways, not a big fan of CoF and haven't actualy heard Dissection. I also don't think i'd consider CoB and Lamb of god as melodic death. Children of bodem is just power metal with harsh vocals, and lamb of god is mostly metalcore.
Intriguing
All the catagorization is too confusing. Personally I just break metal down into hardcore, death metal, black metal, heavy metal, thrash metal (trashy metal), or other. Anyway, I really like Lamb of God, they're probably my forth favourite band at the moment. However, I can't say I have much of a liking for Children of Bodom, and I've never bothered to listen to Cradle of Filth or Dissection. Britney Spears owns Spice Girls. Cool. Futurama
This is just becoming a huge arguement about genres of bands when it doesn't even matter because they're all just forms of hardcore metal... :/ Metal is pathetic for different genres. Faster drums, new genre. One new instrument, different genre. Female singer, different genre. It's all just metal....
Miluion
God, you "metalheads" can never get it right . . . Children Of Bodom is NOT Death Metal. It's Power Metal with harsh vocals. Alexi does NOT growl and the instrumentals are NOT of Death Metal. Cradle of Filth is NOT Death Metal. It's mostly Black Metal/Gothic Metal. Lamb of God is Metalcore, which is crappy. Dissection is more along the lines of Death Metal.

Also Intriguing, that would work except your forgeting two majorly different types -- Power metal and symphonic metal. Hmm.. Miluion, I'd consider CoF more gothic metal tbh. It's not really black metal by any stretches. Lamb of god is actualy decent for being metalcore however. :)

Ramps_Kill
Question - How can death metal be melodic I am not trying to start and arguement or undermine your statement, I just want to know because I love the heavy sound of death metal but the mindless banging of guitar strings like thrash and the growling singers push me away. So I awitched to Progressive Metal :]
Darkinvader
Theres only two forms of metal to me, Good metal, and crappy metal with people that dont know how to sing. :

So I awitched to Progressive Metal :] Melodic simply means containing an agreeable succession of notes, so its a very, very broad term. I mean, even I don't agree with screaming vocals all that much, it has its moments, but I feel a good mix of clean/harsh yields the most benefits. (I.E. newer Norther). Regardless, listen to any COB song and try to tell me that song had no melody. You would be sorely wrong. Metal fans, check out my band!Still the King.... Futurama
Spose you've got me there hahah, but I feel strongly about trance due to the endless onslaught of crappy pop trance these days. and that was a different thing altogether, i was explaning how electronica is just the tip of the iceberg :P Its the way people argue about it with Metal though, it's like every single band has to be set to a genre and without meaning to sound small minded, a lot of metal bands that are accordingly worlds apart so they have to be a different genre arn't technically all that different. I do know the difference because I listen to it. Not only that I researched a 2000 word essay on black metal, hahah... point is it just feels like people argue way too much about bands being a specific genre when you could just say you like the band's sound because it's different. if you get me. :)
