December 8, 200619 yr I am f2p...lvl 61 mage now...want to get mage up to 75 or so....wat is fastest, most inexpensive way to get my mage up? I really want it to be fast so I wouldn't mind if it was moderately expensive as long as it is fast.....plz help
December 8, 200619 yr chaos runes are probably the fastest way that isn't rediculously expensive. Also, try training on monsters like ice giants so you can get some of the cash back.
December 8, 200619 yr I suggest failing curses for value... best xp for what you spend, excellent speed, but gets really really boring... If you're an rcer, your cheapest bet is earth strikes. Earth is better than fire because it only needs 1 air per mind, meaning you save a trip, but the xp is slightly slower. For speed, best bet is either fire blasts or hi alcing, but neither of those are cheap on f2p. December 8, 200619 yr Curses can be effectively failed at any spot where theres a barrier between you and your opponent, in solo combat territory. Make your mage bonus as low as possible by wearing full armour, dhide vambraces, and security boots. THis is to ensure failure, which allows you to cast again, but provides the same xp. Stand behind the obstacle and cast the curse on the monster over and over and over. Your xp will go by rapidly. December 8, 200619 yr Author ok...and so should i atk wizards or something with good mage bonuses so they aren't affected?
December 8, 200619 yr ok...and so should i atk wizards or something with good mage bonuses so they aren't affected? You don't need to necessarily attack monsters with good mage bonuses, if you have really bad ones. Just wear the full armour (metal) and vambraces, and you should almost always fail on any monster.

December 9, 200619 yr hmmm i dont think so...its the amt of runes that u used that matters i guess??~~
December 9, 200619 yr well i really wouldnt do curse cause i have 66 mage and when i tryed the curse way to train mage i succeded the spell every few hits (im also a member and while wearing member antimage stuff) so i would stick with chaos runes and wind bolt for exp cheap and easy no need to buy any other rune exept chaos Mojo477 has had to quit members so i need friends to talk to on my pure Lived4devil so please add her"The elves having helped create the crystal saw is like Greenpeace having helped create a nuclear seal skinner"
December 9, 200619 yr curse is an easy way to get exp, just get a water staff, atleast 1k bodies, and 2k earths what to wear is this: water staff full metal armor, even bronze will do dhide vamps and stronghold of security boots this should give u -65 magic attack, atleast, which means that you should fail everytime you cast it
December 9, 200619 yr Keep in mind that Curse will not give Hitpoints experience though. I realize you're mainly concerned about Magic, but I just thought I'd throw this in here. Retired Member
December 11, 200619 yr I am f2p...lvl 61 mage now...want to get mage up to 75 or so.... wat is fastest, most inexpensive way to get my mage up? You have gotten several good answers here, a summary is: Failed Curses always give 29 magic exp and 0 HP exp per cast. That is more than any Strike (mind rune based) spell, but less than the 34 or 39 exp that you could earn with "expensive" Chaos based spells. You can always fail Curse casting if you have a magic attack stat of -65 or worse. You can get a bad magic attack stat by wearing any full metal armor setup. That would include full helm, chest plate, legs, kite shield, dragonhide vambraces, stronghold boots, and an elemental staff. Do not wear a magic amulet. ...I really want it to be fast so I wouldn't mind if it was moderately expensive as long as it is fast.....plz help Well, you would need, at most, 31315 Failed Curses and that would cost you about $940,000 gp. Or, you would need about 47800 Fire Strikes and that would cost you about $1,400,000 gp Or, you would need about 23286 Crumble Undeads and that would cost you about $2,560,000 gp Also, F2P can't autocast Crumble Undead so you will have to click your way there if you use Curse or Crumble. You can auto-cast Fire Strike though. Hope this helps
December 11, 200619 yr From Goobore's summary (and prior knowledge), fire strike is probably the best thing to take into consideration.
December 11, 200619 yr Er I know this isn't my thread but why would you want to fail curse? Have I been doing something wrong all these years? =P. Or is there something I'm missing... #-o
December 11, 200619 yr Er I know this isn't my thread but why would you want to fail curse? Have I been doing something wrong all these years? =P. Or is there something I'm missing... #-o A successful Curse will earn you 29 magic exp and you then have to find a new target. A failed Curse will earn you 29 magic exp and you can re-use the same monster. Hope this help
December 11, 200619 yr Ah ok, that's alright then, Thanks. I've used it in the past but only once before killing the monster just for an extra bit of magic xp.
December 11, 200619 yr ...I've used it in the past but only once before killing the monster... It's also very useful when ranging from a safe spot. If you cast a Curse on the monster and then run back to your safe spot it allows you to have all of your arrows in the monster's loot pile when it dies. That way you don't have to run around trying to get them back or waste them by leaving them there. If you pick up your arrows then you can use each one about 4 times before it breaks. That a lot of extra exp that you can earn. Hope this helps
