"not ready to make nice" the true meaning

Featured Replies

the Dixie Chicks have a song out called "not ready to make nice." it's real meaning is how one of them despises bush, and how she gets critisized for it. But no offense to any of you americans or iraquees. but he says about all of this global warming and climate change but, surely war makes it worse. my view is that bush is a hypocrit and the dixie chicks should be congratulated, not critisised. what are you guys's thoughts??

They make bad music anyway imo.

In my opinion Disturbed coverd the idea best with their cover of Genesis' Land Of Confusion.

The. Dixie. Chicks. Are. Horrible.

Terrible song, and terrible point behind it.

Ghost: I am prejudice towards ignorance, so that would explain why I appear to be so.

Doesn't it seem improbable for someone to have such terrible spelling?

I, too, thought so, until I saw his location:

Windsor

Saying the Dixie Chicks are good at political issues is like saying Aaron Carter can do first grade math...They don't mix, and the whole thing will end up in a horrid mess. Don't listen to the Dixie Chick's opinion on ANYTHING. PERIOD.

So they should be congratulated because they agree something you think (which is probably just what you parents think judging by how old I think you are)?

Their message is correct, however, most of their fans (fans of country music) are from the south. Southern people ironically have a great sense of pride for their country and it's leader's (all while flying a Rebel flag, mind you...Not the brightest people in the country...), so they got angry at them singing a song about how screwed up George Bush is.

In other words, they should all be ignored. Hicks and 'The Chicks.

I personally don̢̢̮ââ¬Å¡Ã¬Ã¢ââ¬Å¾Ã¢t agree with the Dixie chicks song and Tigra what you said about people from the south is a stereotype. Not everyone fly̢̢̮ââ¬Å¡Ã¬Ã¢ââ¬Å¾Ã¢s the rebel flag that lives in the south and the people who do are just showing that they take pride in the heritage maybe one of their ancestors died fighting for the confederate side. Also saying that people from the south aren̢̢̮ââ¬Å¡Ã¬Ã¢ââ¬Å¾Ã¢t the smartest people in this country is a stereotype too. I wonder if you have ever even been to the south.

I was born in South Carolina. I have been there, aswell as Georgia, Florida, North Carolina, Virginia, etc etc etc, many times.

Yes, it is a stereotype! But you know why stereotypes exsist? Because they are true. You can't just make up a generalization about a group of people. It at least has to have some truth to it, and this is no exception.

Freakin' everyone down there flies those stupid flags and most of them have NO IDEA what they mean or stand for. They probably think it was something cool from the Dukes of Hazard, but I can tell you that they don't know that it stands for the seperation of our country into two different countries, pro-slavery and the deaths of a great number of people.

I can also say with relative certainty that almost noone flies them because of their rich ancestory, i.e. knowing someone who fought in that war. Know why? It happened 150 years ago. There probably aren't many people who even know if they had a relative in this country at the time, let alone one who fought in the war. For every 1 person who knows, there are an infinate number of idiots who have no idea.

Like I said, stereotypes are there for a reason. Because they are true for the general amount of people. So, I'll use them as I see fit. But I don't even have to since I've seen these morons with my own eyes, flying their dumb flag in the rear window of their truck. If you're ever down south and DON'T see a Rebel flag being flown SOMEWHERE, I will give you $100, lol.

Well i see your are talking mostly about teenagers who fly the rebel flag i am sure that some do not know what it means but me and all my friends know what it means and i am in high school i live in the south Mississippi if you wondered. I know that i had atleast one ancestor who fought in the war. People who fought for the Confederacy were fighting for what they believed in like their ancestors did. If people who moved to america hadnt fought for what they believed in we would be under British rule. Also slavery was in America before the Confederacy started.

Tigra has firsthand experience, so that counts. Stereotypes may not be accurate sometimes but I've yet to travel to a *really* 'southern' town and see how it is.

P.S. I felt compelled to post this after reading Tigra's post. It may have been insulting, but it was funny.

Blah, I hate how people hate Bush (ironic, eh?) . It was like, 65% of Americans voted, 50% of them voted yes. So really, only a third of people have the right to complain about him.

blue if you had read my second post you can see i am from the south and have lived their all my life and have gone to the northern states too and i have seen the differences

I remember reading about how they were doing so badly in the industry because they pretty much alienated their fan base by disagreeing with Bush.

I still think it's the funniest thing I have ever heard.

Why do these songs need to be so political anyway. Why can't we just have more pining for love songs?

It's ok, I just wanted you to quote the monkey.

They make bad music anyway imo.

I hate them in general. When they got on stage they started saying shiz about bush. I know some people have their oppinion on our president, but still, without him you prolly wouldnt be alive right now. Its just not right to make fun of your president. I dont really like to talk about the president myself but i just had to let that out.

Dixie Chicks are stupid.

?!

Mind explaining that part... And in case you're wondering, no, Iraq has never waged war with the US, and the 9/11 commission already stated Saddam and his government had no ties to Al-Qaeda nor bin Laden. Don't be a victim of false patriotism.
