Hidhaeg
Runescape is good and all, but it could be a lot better. Same with other games, such as World of Warcraft, and Neopets. What would be your ideal Internet Game, be it Java, Flash, or all web-based like Neopets? I'm moderately skilled in HTML, Actionscript, and other internet programming languages, and I have been interested in starting up a small web-game for some time now, all I need is some motivation. I will edit this post with any progress. Game Features: Choice of Race. Quests. NPCs. Shops. Skills. Game Language: First Draft will be Actionscript Game Theme: Mythology Based- Norsk, Specifically Skills Combat: Strength, Attack, Defence. Certain 'attack styles' will hurt certain creatures much more. Interface - Will take place in the realm of Midgard. - Third Person, view from above. - Interactive Enviourments. Races Humans, Elves. Current plans are that all races are equal, and neither have any better skills than the other. It is merely just for show.
rushrock
A game where you were a vampire, and you walked around in a world with World of Warcraft - type graphics. You could interact with people, do quests, etc. It would be a lot like Runescape, but with vampires and other cool stuff!

You could be an elf, a goblin, a vampire, or a demon? What would be your preference, Flash (not many games that are flash based), Java (Runescape), or Web-based (Neopets)? Darrel104
Sort of like a rts where you gather resources and then build a village. I would prefer C++.

It won't ever be anything like Runescape, at least not for a long time. I'll make it in Flash first, and then progress into Java once I've got the first draft done. Current Features: Choice of Race Quests. --- Any other ideas? Skills? Your own personal shop? NPC's? What else? --- Edit: Sort of like a rts where you gather resources and then build a village. I would prefer C++. I'm afraid C++ is not an option, if I was to do it with that, it would be a much longer, much more tedious job- not only that, but such games already exist- Red Alert, Age of Empires, Civilisation, et cetera. Hidhaeg
^ I wasn't asking you to elaborate on the bolded phrases, merely add to the current features, hehe. I'm not too fond of the Vampire blood-sucking idea, considering I want everyone to at least start off equal in the start.

Each race has its advantages and disadvantages! The vampires can't make things really...while the humans can. It's all about what style of game you want. They're supposed to be equal though, with their own advantages and disadvantages.

Only thing it seems to be missing for you is vampires :P Though it's not so much like RuneScape seeing as how a lot of level 15-20's think it's great fun to gank lowbies while they try to train at a low level. You should be able to see your whole character, like in Runescape. The graphics will be sprite based, so you can forget anything 3d. I have neither the time, nor the budget to make something so advanced, but I will look into it for future versions, but for now, all I'm worrying about is the first draft. The camera will have to be static, too. Think of it as the production of Runescape, you've all seen how that started, yes? Pretty poorly, and then it got better over the course of a few years. That is what I am going to do. I seriously doubt this game is ever leaving this thread That kind of attitude doesn't help anyone, does it?

Thats about the only fun I had in that game >_>. Anyways, my ideal MMO: - Complete open PvP system with full loot rights. [i.E you die -- you lose everything on your body and the killer gets it]. - Skill based gameplay that revolves around varrious skills and not an actual level. [Very 'akin to UO's system they had in place]. - realistic hitboxes, nothing along the likes of auto attack. I.E I should "NEVER" just sit there and click attack. - Ability to build bases, take over enemy bases and a possibility of taking over towns. PvP even inside towns would be alowed, but watch out for guards :). - I'm not sure what setting i'd like it to be in, honestly anything would work out well -- although I'm a sucker for medevil fantasy. Adam007
My main things are unlimited customization, a sense of hugeness of never running out of things to do, a good community, and a large enough map that it would take ages to cover the whole thing, like some games already have. I like to show off my creativity, and also be able to do co-op things with friends.
BlueLancer
I'm afraid C++ is not an option, if I was to do it with that, it would be a much longer, much more tedious job- not only that, but such games already exist- Red Alert, Age of Empires, Civilisation, et cetera. Those are not MMORPG's. Those are strategy games. Most decent MMORPG's are coded in C++. Coding in C++ is no more 'longer or tedious' than java coding, games programmed with it just usually have heavier graphics. If you have a good graphics team, even those wont be a problem. I've been doing a lot of work on this lately, I have the basis for it, and I'm working on the 'flat' world. I've gotta fix a few issues with the base character, mind you- he's walking a bit oddly. ;)

Heh. Need to fix the collision detection a bit. I wouldn't mind some help, if anyone is interested, at the moment, I only need someone to help share some of the graphic work.
