Is this game taken too seriously?

its not about being able bodied or not..Its about personality. Some people (like myself) just dont have outgoing, thriving, type personalities. I'm generally pretty quiet and keep to myself most of the time. People like that are usually the types that play alot.

I admit, I played rs for 48 hours straight once. I dont think I'd do it again but an all nighter occationally is fun :P

I really recommend you read all three of these articles (that goes for anyone who plays 3+ hours a day):

Nobody's a permanent introvert. You just make yourself more introverted by living that kind of a lifestyle. While you're young, your personality is still moldable. If you don't change anything about it, you'll end up as an adult really awkward socially, which can basically close out career options and really impact the quality of your life if you want to go into any job requiring any kind of communication. While you still have the chance, change. Just try being more assertive and take chances. Don't waste your days away with this security blanket.

Your a smart man Adam ::' exactly what i was thinking. oh and if any of you guys are looking to improve social skills, i suggest getting a casual job in sales. Its helped me become so much more social and out going, even when i was doin fine socially in the first place.

c'mon guys, lets see who can get 200 mill xp in socializing

I can't agree more. My friend says that I'm addicted even though I play for an hour a day. But, if it took over real life, you would see people following people with paper hats saying "Liek z0mg 1t's z3z3ima111one!' and a lot more dragon weapons due to the mass riot at Jagex HQ <.<

It is by some. However, just because you play it several hours a day doesn't mean it is taken too seriously. Too seriously to me is breaking a keyboard after you die in the wilderness. Something like that.

Maybe but they need to do something people kill themselves over this game. :anxious:

I doubt it. -.-

A Dutch kid did, earlier this year. Shortly after I think, Jagex posted their 'responsible gaming reminder' on the homepage. I think it was in March or April.

many people misinterpret the whole sitiation over that, saying things like "what a nerd its only a game". The actual situation with the whole incident was far from that.

from what i gathered, his whole life wasnt going too great; everything was going badly for him. he wasnt doing well at school, his family wasnt exactly inclusive of him etc. he often used to play rs as a way to get away from it all, and his best friend also used to play it with him.

His best friend , at some point scammed him out of pretty much everything he had on runescape. he had been stabbed in the back by his friend, and in doing so lost his friendship, which was pretty much the only thing he felt was worth living about. along with losing the only place he could escape from everything; he took his own life.

this is only what i could gather, i may be wrong on some counts.

ill try and find the suicide note he posted on the clan forums to let everyone know he was gone. however with the search button, dont count on me finding anything ::'

I'm not drunk! You wouldn't dare call me drunk if i was sober!

Well didnt bother to read all the post in this topic, but this is just my own opinion and how i am...

To me real life > runescape, unless i'm going out somewhere else if someone asks to go out i wont think twice and logged out of runescape straight away. However runescape takes over other tasks that are less enjoyable like homework :-w

But yeah i know people in real life who wont come out as they prefer playing a online game then having a real social life, but each to there own...

Also the amount of hours you play doesnt reflect how serious you take the game, for example some days i wont play at all as im busy with friends etc, but other days i'll play over 6 hours as no ones coming out or i have nothing else to do.

The question you need to ask is, do you you get really stressed if you die? Or you loose cash, or die in the wild? If so you take it too serious...

If you go its only pixels, you dont - i'm leaning towards this, i can take it serious but morly then likly don't.

My 2 cents
