Guy
yeah... i do agree. If I'm at home, and im not bored of it, I play RS. Most of the time though, I'm only on when there is an update, or if I feel motivated for some reason. ~Guy RIP TET "That which does not kill us makes us stronger." - Friedrich Nietzsche
ikraz66
at boarding school, runescape is blocked, so i can only play for a few hours on weekends. Now that its vacation though, i've been playing nonstop since i got home! I take the occasional break to hang out with some friends (grudginly), but that's it. Is it healthy? No, but after 4 months away from home at a depressing place, i think i deserve it. :anxious: Proud owner of a Quest cape!

jessy87
other then public school...when have you had interaction with such a diversity of people like in runescape? when in real life could u go around killing people and monsters? so many other things, perhaps its not 1 experience that makes runescape so desireable, but the whole thing
cocacolabottle
Runescape is just a matter of having alot of free time, I just play when I get back from work and it's already dark outside, so there's not much to do anyways except play guitar. I've never stayed home or canceled on my friends when they want to hang out or stuff. 99 Slayer since August 2007.
12pure34
If someone asks me: ''How long have you been playing Runescape?'' My answer is ussually: For to long. I do not say this because I play it for a few years now, but I play it to long a day. I rarely chose Runescape over doing something else, but even that is to much. Runescape is above all a way to kill time. Time that is left over after planning your day. It is just a game and it will do nothing to me in return, although you can say otherwise. (multitasking, learning strange language, socialising ingame, learning other things) My teacher said it last week, it is a good thing that students also learn outside the classroom, as my classmates and I were examening some strange object and were discussing its use. Outside the classroom does not mean inside a Fantasy Game. So if you want to grow yourself, log out, go to school and socialize.
bbalking
well here's how u can decide if u take it serious... try and quit runescape for a couple of weeks, if u think about playing it daily (or do eventually cave in) then yes, it is taken too seriously BY YOU
Mayjest
When I was in A-levels I played a lot, 3 or 4 hours a weekday, but work and friends always took precedence. Uni in Belfast blocked RS (I was in halls), so pretty much anything but RS took precedence. Uni in Reading doesn't block it, but I leave my door open and go talking/annoying people around 20 minutes. I literally play RS as a fancy now. I have long term goals, but nothing that will take over my life, more 'I'm aiming to get this'. Goals to get my skills back up to a barely respectable level on the high scores: Currently going for Bone to Peaches spell. It's amazing how boring doing the same repetitive task is! Will H
It is odd, people claim 'Oh, this guy committed suicide because of this game...' i mean, what the heck?!?! If you committed suicide, you wouldn't ever be able to play this game anyways! :? About 99.999% minimum of the people here have decent social lives, and perhaps a few have decent social lives BECAUSE of this game. Are we unnessecarily addicted? Flame_guy3
It's only an addiction when you treat it like an addiction. Maybe you guys just have nothing better to do, i remember when me and a hell load of my mates used to do that.... boy im glad that phase passed in a few weeks. You'll notice that.... without runescape your life seems a bit more vibrant and fun, honestly go out without runescape for a few weeks and you'll forget all about it and just go out with your mates and catch a movie with the gals or summin. I think merchanting is extinct.... Wachtwoord
rune is basicly a way to waste time and thats cool! so if ur not doing anyfing all day y not!! its the same as playing the playstation/ x box/ wii or watchin tv. HOWEVER, the problem comes when you start choseing rune over going out with your mates or any toher social activity, then you are addicted to the game and are not useing it to kill time / have a bit of fun I am the kinda guy you discribe here. And I've had a discussion about that countless time with friends/parents. And mostly we got to the same conclusion; as long as I don't sit in a little corner in the class all by my own OR only have friends with whom I can only talk about games/pc the whole day, it's ok. I have friends (nerds and no nerds) and most people find out later I'm only playing the computer whole day. Some make a problem of that and never have never spoken to me after that. But most people are cool to me and as long I have something interesting to talk about it's cool to them. So why do you have any problem with it?? On Topic: I don't know or I take it too seriously, maybe I do. Because I spend loads of time just training that boring skill, which isn't fun at all. Just to improve my rank on the highscore. But is that taking too serious? I don't think so, because the satesfaction I get from doing is it all worth! When everything's been said and done, more has been said than done. All skills 80+

About 99.999% minimum of the people here have decent social lives, and perhaps a few have decent social lives BECAUSE of this game. Are we unnessecarily addicted? Go figure. Optimistic are we  ? Me, I'm a pessimist at heart :-$ . I shoot for 20% so I don't get my hopes crushed when in reality it's about 30%. I don't really get what's with playing 10 hours a day. I can barely bring myself to play 10 hours a week. Heck, when I used to absolutely love the game I once played a 10 hour session on a Saturday. Guess what I did after that. I ended up taking a whole month off of the game from sheer boredom  . What the heck drives you people to play 10 hours a day? I mean, to some I guess this game's addicting, but the game is so repetitive that I don't even understand how people could play more than 3-4 hours a day, max. For me it's like how one becomes an adult, and totally forgets what kids like, even though that adult was once a kid >_<. I've gone out of the "I'm addicted to the game" phase, and I can't remember what it's like >_<. Enlighten me. wakka102
I could care less about real life to be honest lol, I'm a Christian and I believe I'd just go to Heaven anyways so real life is sort of a waste of time. I'm a good looking guy if I do say so myself, but I don't really care much about life. Too crazy, insane, stupid, unfair, etc. I'm also 16, and I prefer staying away from the whole teenage thing. You know, the whining about losing a girlfriend thing, getting drunk/smoking and acting like an idiot, the "clicks" of categorized people at school, being an "Emo" kid, being a "Gangster" which is utterly stupid since rock and roll is where it's at. 8-) I personally find that having a girlfriend isn't very fun either. :-# I like being alone, and Runescape helps with that. Although I have to admit...following rules all of the time is really frustrating.I'm mostly with ya on this one  Accept for the christian part. I am an athiest but other then that were on a similar level. I'd probably be more outgoing if i had more friends but i dont. I go place when I'm invited but other then that I'm on rs. I've been playing runescape almost 6 years now. I've never played more than 3 hours a day. Most of the time, less than 10 hours a week. And I watch all the TV I ever watch whilst on runescape. All my RL friends who played were the same. I'll never understand why able bodied people play more. It's just a computer game, there's a whole world out there. :?its not about being able bodied or not..Its about personality. Some people (like myself) just dont have outgoing, thriving, type personalities. I'm generally pretty quiet and keep to myself most of the time. People like that are usually the types that play alot. I admit, I played rs for 48 hours straight once. I dont think I'd do it again but an all nighter occationally is fun :P

You just make yourself more introverted by living that kind of a lifestyle. While you're young, your personality is still moldable. If you don't change anything about it, you'll end up as an adult really awkward socially, which can basically close out career options and really impact the quality of your life if you want to go into any job requiring any kind of communication. While you still have the chance, change. Just try being more assertive and take chances. Don't waste your days away with this security blanket. Drunkenmonka
Over the past 3 days I must have played at least 7 hours a day. Maybe that is a little too much. I am eating properly and going for runs though. I'm back from University until mid a week or so into January. It's a bit wierd when you've spent a long time living on campus with all these new friends when you've constantly had something fun to go and do, and then you come home, and most of your mates are now hundreds of miles away. Runescape is keeping me entertained over Christmas. I don't take it too seriously, I'm just bored.
Artemis_42
Inyuasha said he played 72 straight hours of runescape to reach #1 hunter. w/o food or sleep? That's incredible. He probebly did it using a laptop, sitting on the toilet with a mini-fridge right beside him  Anyways, I play nowhere near as much as I used to, For my the game is beginning to lose entertainment for me. These days I play only an hour or less a day. "Those who know nothing, can understand nothing" - Ansem, Kingdom Hearts
