Faith No More, RATM, and RHCP were huge influences on the Nu-Metal bands, which mixed Funk Metal, Grunge, and Death Metal. January 1, 200719 yr Primus are one of my favourite bands even if i'd disagree with calling the funk metal, very few of their songs are metal influenced and the best category for primus is simply "Alternate Rock" even though technically, Primus itself is a genre. Old Red Hot Chili Peppers isn't Funk Metal, if anything, it was the only time when RHCP were actually Funk since everything after that period was Rock using influences of funk with their current stuff being Pop influenced by Funk and Rock. My favourite funk metal band is probably Gordian Knot

January 2, 200719 yr RATM are an amazin band, got a bunch of their albums, their message is more important than the music really. And yeah as said, I wouldn't call RHCP metal in any way. Wonder what Primus would be classed as? but yeah, its good, definately different so maybe it's better if it's not so popular. we saw a local band called Interflare (nearly wrote incubus by accident then) and they were kinda funk with indie and hiphop sorta influences, amazing stuff.

January 8, 200719 yr Author Primus are one of my favourite bands even if i'd disagree with calling the funk metal, very few of their songs are metal influenced and the best category for primus is simply "Alternate Rock" even though technically, Primus itself is a genre. one word: Antipop but glad to see another primus fan, (they are my 2nd favorite band) some songs (too many puppies, most of the antipop, parts of Jerry, welcome to this world, puddin' time, the thing that should not be, their master of puppets version, ) are a bit on the heavy side though. I looked up infectios grooves, pretty cool to here muir and trujillo together in a different band.
