January 11, 200719 yr I think Pompey made the best arguments against the psp. And, yes, the browser is a joke, but does work. I'd like to note if you downgrade and unleash the capabilities of the psp, you come out with BOTH of those games^ . I run my GTA on psp, and have Super Mario 64 emulating too.

January 11, 200719 yr The PSP is a good little console and GTA fans would like it, racing game fans would enjoy it but the DS simply has the fun factor by far. Example: At 6th form in our common room around 10 people bring in a DS and Mario Kart, simply link up and play for hours of fun just handing the DS round eachother. Also with a school trip with a 22 hour coach journey the fun of the DS will help immensely. Unfortunately the PSP games don't seem to have this fun factor which seems a shame for a good handheld.

But a few do, which was the comparison i was trying to make. Linking up between GTA and Battlefront IS immensely fun. On the whole, i do believe the DS wins for fun factor, but i would prefer it if people stopped outright denying the PSP any merits, of which it deserves plenty.

Don't get me wrong, I think the PSP is the best performance handheld by a mile, it's an excellent handheld and I myself like a number of the games - I'm a GTA fan so I like them and SOCOM was good for a while, the racing games have a good playlife and can go back to them quite a bit. I just feel that the DS has a better fun factor.
January 11, 200719 yr I agree with you, but in your last post you wrote Unfortunately the PSP games don't seem to have this fun factor which seems a shame for a good handheld. I know this is probably not what you actually think, but a lot of people are making false, stock comments like this, which is just as bad as the PSP fanboys shouting about bad graphics, which have nothing to do with the console.
January 11, 200719 yr Obviously it's opinion. I'm a fan of both consoles but feel that the DS has a better fun factor than the PSP. They are both fun or I wouldn't have them but seem to enjoy the DS more, however I can get more into a PSP game, the games - to me - have better story lines and find myself more immersed in a PSP game.
January 12, 200719 yr Personally, I prefer the PSP, but only slightly over the DS. If your a traveler, and like to have many forms of entertainment, go with the PSP hand down. But if your more into the thinking and new-style games, I say go with the DS. I own a PSP myself, which is probably why I picked that, but I will admit that Tekken can get boring after a little while... However, I only payed 100 dollars for a 4gig memory card, and I have 3 movies, 100+ songs, and 145 photos on it, along with a few games I have on my computer downloaded. With Final Fantasy coming out, along with many more shooter-ups (my favorites :D ), the PSP is hands down better. But if you don't use the PSP to your full advantage, it sucks, plain and simple. ^Yeah, I'm a guy...http://forum.tip.it/viewtopic.php?t=583933Proud QUEST CAPE OWNER!Feel free to HYT!

And anyways, seeing as how Sony is bound to know this by now, more games will be made. I'm guessing, and I may be wrong about this, but it seems to me that the people who have DS's don't really like shoot-um-ups, or they were just fascinated by the dual screen. Overall, the PSP gives many more benefits then the DS, for only 50 dollars more, and true, the quality of the games aren't top notch, but they will do for now. Personally, Hot Shots Golf: Open Tee is the best game on PSP, which is truly an amazing game. ^Yeah, I'm a guy...http://forum.tip.it/viewtopic.php?t=583933Proud QUEST CAPE OWNER!Feel free to HYT!

Actually, there is another FFVII game coming out for it, Sony seems to be trying to milk it for all the popularity its got lately, I think they've even gone as far as to put a game for it on cell phones. And Doom, in most places the PSP is $100 dollars more than a DS. ~^v^~Ex-Leader of the Divine Flames of Redemption~^v^~

It was an okay game, prolly in the middle for FF, but no where NEAR AS MUCH ATTENTION IT NEEDED.

January 13, 200719 yr I'm just going to have to say that I'm glad that tipit has evolve past all the Nintendo fan boys that it used to have. (I favor no system better then another because there all good in there own ways) But i do have to say that I've had both a PSP and a DS and i traded in my PSP in because of the lack of fun the psp games had. ya it has better graphics but that doesn't make up for the game play. The DS has so many interesting games that keep you playing. For example i just imported Jump ultimate Stars possible the best handhold game I've ever played besides the point i can't read Japanese. Its like just like super smash brothers and you can't say that that is a bad game. But then again the DS does have a lot of bad games that are aimed to a younger age group, but the ratio for DS games is about 1:1 good to bad games. But the one game for the PSP that helped my decide to get rid of my PSP was some game with the work dark in it, it was some shooter game, all you did in that game was the something over and over, which is boring. but hot shot golf was pretty fun. But it really comes down in what you want with your handhold game system.

Often I take in my PSP to school with a few other friends and we game share/wi-fi Burnout, Worms, Tekken and some others. Crash mode with 3 other friends is good explosive fun. And you simply can't beat worms for multiplayer fun.
January 13, 200719 yr Sony PSP. Great graphics, it's like a portable ps2. It's also a portable internet browser. how exactely did you miss and completely ignore my big huge post?
January 13, 200719 yr This leads me to believe that the PSP is largely unnecessary, because a.) The good games it has are avaliable in even better quality on a bigger screen. b.) Most people already have an mp3 player, and they are usually small enough to slip into a top pocket or something. The psp does have good music capability, but because of its size, its slightly impracticle on the move. c.) As for the movie playback feature, most people who own a psp, also own an ipod. A large majority of these will be 30gb or 80gb ones, and so can already play far more movies than the psp could hold, and theyre technically free. d.) The great internet browsing abilty it claims to have (ive never tried it myself) seems to be little more than a gimmick. Nobody i know who owns a psp uses its internet for browsing, either because of loading times, or simply because of how hard it must be. There really is just no real need to use the internet away from home, and if you are the sort of person who does need to, you would most likely have a BlackBerry, or something similar and better than the psp for that purpose. A) You do realise that's the point of a handheld? To be able to play the games you like whenever? Shot yourself in the foot. If I were at home, yeah i'd play my PS2. But if i'm travelling somewhere, I can still play it on my PSP. Especially with some games such as Pro Evo, you can play on your PS2, put the save data onto your PSP, carry on playing the same games, then come back and put it back onto your PS2. Marvelous idea, that. B) Put the emphasis on most, not all, most. Many people do not own an mp3 player, heck, I didn't. But the fact is I don't need to own one with a PSP. Now I do have an mp3 player, but I only take that on short journeys. But if I know i'll be waiting a long time, i'll take my PSP so I can game if I want. C) Same as B really, but with movies. I don't use my PSP for movies. I don't really watch alot. I usually put an anime episode on so I can watch it when I have the time. Movies aren't so good on PSP because they size is alot smaller which compresses some pixels, but since anime has less detail, it looks just as good. Again, not everyone will own a video iPod or portable movie player. D) Gimmick? Nonono, use it. I can pick up a wi-fi signal at my school and i'm allowed to do some research on my PSP, the rules are fairly relaxed for things like that. Although it won't be the same everywhere... But it's still a pretty quick loading time. It's not particularly suited to forums though, it takes a while to recognise all the tables and images. But to do some quick research on, it's really good. I only really use it at home for brief things, saves me having to load the computer and logon then wait for all my security features to load. You can download pictures, sound files and even movies from the internet on it to your PSP.
January 13, 200719 yr Are there memory sticks with 30 gigs? Memory sticks? No. Hard Drives? Quite possibly.
