Does Jagex Listen to Feedback?

If you want Jagex to do/fix something serious, have The Editor talk about it in the Tip.It Times. Seriously, remember what happened when Jagex was accused of poor banning decisions? Jagex noticed immediately and raised hell. That's proof that they read stuff from this site.

Didn't they have to delete that and after that they had to put a Disclaimer after every tip.it times?

Oh sure, but how hard is that? It's on the frontpage. I really doubt that they actually read the suggestions forum on tip.it. Which is kind of sad, because the quality of our suggestions are usually a lot better than the load of crap you see on the suggestions forum in the RSOF (like "OMG I WANT DRAGON PL8"); and we have neat pictures too

One thing you must remember is that about 9/10 of the runescape population hasn't the faintest idea about how to design a game. Perticularly in the area of game balance. If they did listen to everyones suggestions then I assure you that this game would go to hell.

And before you bring up the new bank page idea as an idea of a good suggestion, I am in favour of that and I imagine Jagex has their reasons for why they aren't implimenting a new banking system into the game.

Some of the best suggestions I have seen on this forum have not been implemented. Look at the Bank thagern designed, that has been out to the public for over a year and a half and yet there is still no indication that Jagex is going to impliment it or even bother looking at it. Another thing is that when a player suggests something Jagex will never use the same design because they want to act like they created it and it was all there idea.

Just a few comments on this

1) Jagex will only take notice of suggestions raised in the Official Forums Suggestions forum. So if thagern wants Jagex to notice his bank idea he MUST post it there (if he has not already done so)

2) Is anyone here a software developer? If so then you would realise how mucj time it takes to develop even the simplest idea. thagern;s bank idea looks great in theory and the designing of the screens would not be too difficult. However, redesigning the underlying database, without affecting anything else is extremely difficult - ask any competant database designer.

3) Jagex probably never uses exactly the same designs as users propose because they understand the Runescript language (as they developed it) and the ordinary player does not.

However, thagern's bank idea is excellent and I am sure Jagex has noted his suggestions, and I am sure that they are developing a new banking system, In fact I am sure I read somewhere that they are going to make changes to the bank some time this year. We will wait to see if it bears any relation to this idea.

Thagern has posted it many times I bet. Plus other people who like the idea have most likely reposted it.

Thats why Jagex doesn't release updates for 6 months.(kind of sucks seeing as they spend 6 months+ on some of this [cabbage] they put in-game) I understand things are difficult, but over a year and a half this idea has been around and no plans have been released.

Well they aren't going to sue the same idea based on the fact that they want it too look "original".

Do you think you could find me a link for that update? O:)

Well, the most popular minigame of all time that was player suggested was...

cw.

But pleanty of significant player made updates besides that aren't minigames. Anyway, there are just a ton of minigame flops. I don't know what they expected, but its nice that they're their for purposes just like TET

You can make the blast furnace more enjoyable simply by putting a bank closer to it. Smithing is the biggest pain in the rear to train, and a bank on the east side of the river, anywhere on the east side of the river, would make that game a smashing success. But Jagex won't do it because... why?

As a 99 smith I'm not complaining. That furnace dosen't only increase my profits per rune bar i smith there but it's also waaaay faster than the regular "running back and forth with 3 ores per trip".

If jagex were to move a bank close to the furnace, rune smiths like me would have a rather easy money making methood made even easier. I could smelth rune faster which would lead to the fact that I'd finish smithing sooner & alching my rune legs (12.8k per bar on average). So, in general, I would be able to restart the smelthing process sooner and gain more cash faster.

I'm rather sure a update like that wouldn't be good though. Rune sets are practically becoming cheaper than the materials needed for the sets(thanks to clues and such). I myself choose to rather alch the dang rune than waste my time on selling it for a additional 300gp per bar spent to ppl that would do anything to lower the price or get it for free because I'm supposedly creating rune out of thin air.

It would be handy for players that smelth most other types of metals though, since it's 26-28 bars in a single trip (and each trip is a minute at most if you know what you are doing -> only takes 1 person to operate the furnace) but it would lead to a lower price on most types of bars... Iron dosen't need rings of forging at the blast furnace, materials for steel would cost less than 300gp per bar (1 coal, 1 iron) and mith and addy would also take a hit. With lower prices on bars, more ppl would smith to gain smithing abilities or get their total up. Smithable armours, arrows, darts, knifes and such would become cheaper and smithing would turn into something like fletching... A skill that brings in profits from alching at low levels.

Since bars would go down and more ppl would smith, more ppl would need to mine to keep up (higher ore prices to counter the low bar prices to start with), but as always merchants will lower the price slowly.

Of course, this is merely the words of a crazy smith who loves smithing so much that he wouldn't want it changed in any way what so ever =P~

Back on topic.

I thought stuff like poh's, skill capes and some of the minigames were all ideas from rs players :-k

Jagex does listen to the masses, you just have to know where to look (the suggestion section of the rs forums are STUFFED with ideas for jagex to impliment in future updates)
