dangeresque
Hello there, have any of you seen a newspaper that says something negative about a certain town in practically every issue? Well, a local newspaper that is located about a half hour away from my house is always being negative about the city i go to school in. Sure, my school district might not have the best grades around (we are improving), we may not be exactly rolling in money either, and my city may not have the lowest crime rate in the world either...everytime there is an arrest in my town, its all over that paper...whenever my school does bad on the State assesment its on the front page...but last year we made big improvements in our scores...but i didnt hear a mouse fart about that in the paper...why? because they don't want to say anything good about our city where i go to school...but they were sure to point out that a small group of kids in elementary school did poorly. Also, the other day I saw an article saying that a person in a city about 2 hours away from my city got arrested for drug charges...but when people far away get arrested from the city where the paper is located, they don't print it...i have never seen one positive thing about my city come out of that paper...and if it weren't for the coupons my family wouldn't buy it... so any of you have any newspapers like this? or just want to comment on mine feel free please post!! Mercifull
Most newspapers are negative. bad news sells. Dragontotem
Here in finland we dont have anything like that... At least i dont know if there is. And i dont think there is "bad news". all the news are worth of same [well, perhaps not news like "{sorry for aussies :D} A new mosquito peice -or whatever- which came to Australia week ago, has finally gotten a name from Australian governament! Please welcome Jin and Mary :--------------D"], but the press just usually tells the "bad news" that happens. Its just a trick to make people buy more with "man has died, buy a paper for $0.70 to find out more!" and people are like "omg, gotta know what happened!!!" Just my opinion and thoughts.. :D [/url]">[4Th in Finland to achieve 99 mining. 3Rd of June 2007]Pixels make me horny.

Celt23
I guess I can suggest something that right-wingers have been saying for years: The media is dominated by liberals! Well I seriously doubt it is, but you have a good point, newspapers are negative and often biased.

Lateralus
I don't understand anything, so there you go ̢̢̮ââ¬Å¡Ã¬Ãâæ you know what my problem is? I watch too much news, man. That's my problem, that's why I'm so depressed all the time. I figured it out. I watch too much CNN, man. I don't know if you've ever sat around and watched CNN more than, I don't know, 20 hours in one day ̢̢̮ââ¬Å¡Ã¬Ãâæ I don't recommend that. Watch CNN Headline News for 1 hour, it's the most depressing thing you'll ever [bleep]ing do. "WAR, FAMINE, DEATH, AIDS, HOMELESS, RECESSION, DEPRESSION. WAR, FAMINE, DEATH, AIDS, HOMELESS ̢̢̮ââ¬Å¡Ã¬Ãâæ" Then, you look out your window ̢̢̮ââ¬Å¡Ã¬Ãâæ [makes cricket noises] Where's all this [cabbage] happening? Ted Turner's making this [cabbage] up! Jane Fonda won't sleep with him, he runs to a typewriter: "'By 1992, we will all die of AIDS.' Read that on the air. I don't get laid, no one gets laid!" I'm writing Jane Fonda: "Will you [bleep] this guy so we can get some good news, please?" I want to see a well-laid Ted Turner newscast: "Hey, it's all going to work out. Here's sports." Wouldn't you like to see a positive LSD story on the news? To hear what it's all about, perhaps? Wouldn't that be interesting? Just for once? rocketman089
Even Fox News is starting to steer away from the Administration. The morning show is still atrociously conservative but even pundits like O'reilly and Hannity seem to be trying to distance themselves from the far right (even going so far as to take "climate change" seriously). ____
Most of the papers I read a critical, but not negative *shrug* Like they'll focus on the bad things generally - but their good things usually get a decent showing off. And there's plenty of them about.
