He who learns must suffer, and, even in our sleep, pain that cannot forget falls drop by drop upon the heart, and in our own despair, against our will, comes wisdom to us by the awful grace of God. - Aeschylus (525 BC - 456 BC)

indy500fan
links Thanks :D . Your political compass Economic Left/Right: 8.00 Social Libertarian/Authoritarian: -5.03 when this was first posted this morning, i looked at the first question and didnt take the test. when the first question doesnt have the right answer, i didnt think it would be a good test. and i was right. half the questions didnt have the right results. you cant just group everything "agree" or "disagree". for example the first question: "If economic globalisation is inevitable, it should primarily serve humanity rather than the interests of trans-national corporations." it shouldnt "serve" anybody. i dont even know exactly what they are trying to say. i dont believe in any economic restrictions, so it doesnt serve anybodies interests. EDIT: here is another test, it still groups everything agree/disagree, but there are only two questions that i really dont like. results: Libertarian Your PERSONAL issues Score is 100%. Your ECONOMIC issues Score is 100%. the question i dont like: "Let people control their own retirement; privatize Social Security" the first part is what i agreed with, but i dont think social security should be "privatized." that still means government intervention, i dont want any social security at all. Hasn't this exact same test been posted before? Well regardless, I said this about the last one, and I'll say it about this one. A lot of these questions can't be answered by just an agree or disagree. They are a lot more complicated. I've only read the first one, so I'm going off of that. If economic globalisation is inevitable, it should primarily serve humanity rather than the interests of trans-national corporations. The economy shouldn't serve anybody. If I say disagree, it is going to view that as I think it should serve trans-national corporations. I don't think it should serve them either. I guess I'll take it and edit back in my score. Post 2: You're exactly right. That frustrated me several times when I took it last night. I'd say about a third of them were like that. Very frustrating. Anyways, my score was: Your political compass Economic Left/Right: 6.63 Social Libertarian/Authoritarian: -5.44 Since about a third of the questions were stupid, I say take into account a + or - 3.33 error margin. This time: Your political compass Economic Left/Right: 7.50 Social Libertarian/Authoritarian: -4.87 My views haven't changed at all, just with the way they word this test and the fact that it only has agree/disagree my scores have a changed a good amount. When I took one on paper it had a point scale of 1-4 for all the questions, so if there was a middle option it'd be 1-5, you could just choose the no answer(which would give you a 3 based on this scale) and it'd say you were a moderate, which isn't correct since you just didn't answer anything. Celt23
There should just be middle-ground options like "maybe," "don't know" and "undecided".

Obsessive_Passion
Before I finish the test and post my results: I've always thought of myself as being a right-wing conservative capitalist by nature as I was brought up in such an environment. Also, having studied economics, it's rather obvious to see the effects of the answers I'm choosing... But nonetheless, here we go: (1.0, 0.56). I suppose I was correct in my self-judgement, to some extent. I guess.
