Art in Video Games

Featured Replies

I was playing Twilight Princess not too long ago, and just really appreciated its art. Not the graphics, but the art. I'm referring specifically to one of the last temples, that twilight one. There are plenty of really artistic scenes in the game, like the wolves howling to each other across a canyon. The overly saturated look is a great feel too.

Okami is another game that has great art. The graphics aren't that great and use cell shading, but it has such artistic value. I'll admit I haven't played it, but stylistically it's stunning.

I don't want this to turn into a "best graphics" thread, so try to only mention games that are really artistic too. And post images. :)

I wouldn't want it in all the games I play but I like the cell-shaded look sometimes in games such as Paper Mario- The Thousand Year Door and Ultimate Spider-Man.

Zelda wind waker looks great for cell shaded, but it isn't fun to me. Donkey kong country was beautiful and great sound. Also shadow of the collossus.

That picture looks like one of those drawings the anime freaks drew in art class

I've always liked the art from Morrowind. As well as the aft from Shadow of the Colossus. :D

when you step out of the gates of Anchorhead in Kotor, the desert just goes on and on. It looks like you can walk accross the whole planet.

I'm rather fond of the areas in WoW. Pretty much every single area in the game has beautiful art.

Currently, I haven't been in Outland yet so I haven't gotten to see much of it, but it looks like it's even better there.

The outlands is a ton better looking than the normal areas around WoW.

I'd have to agree that the art style in WoW deffinitly grew on me. Some of the armor sets are deffinitly very artistic.

Yep, I'd have to say that would be my favourite also.

Thirded. The entire game looked so real and still does for some reason, even if the graphics are a bit outdated. It had an atmosphere that not many other games can rival. Those Daedric ruins and armours just looked awesome. Glass and Ebony were beautiful as well.

When the stars make you drool just like a pasta fazool, that's amore!

I'm in Outland now...The sky is pretty. Hellfire Pennisula, however, is ugly as sin for the most part. :P Looks just like Durotar, and I am SO over that place. However, the couple peices of scenery like the war machines, towers, statues, etc are really cool. The Pools of Arrogar or whatever is also cool. I'm about ready to go to Zangermarsh and Terrokar Forrest soon enough.

The cutscenes in Fable always interested me. And the "destroyed beauty" (or watever them professionals like to call it) in Gears of War agreed with me. Theres the awe in nature and technology, and then theres the awe in all of it utterly destroyed.

Life is a joke. Yeah, I don't get it either.

Awesome! ^_^ I thought (and still think) that the art from Morrowind is very unique and original. ^_^ Glad to see others appreciate it as well!
