Yes there are some skateboarders that are druggies and are just plain jerks, but that isn't all of them, there are a lot of decent and nice skateboarders out there.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Most people's opinions of skateboarding are stereotypes or stuff they see for a few seconds outside that they don't know the whole story or read a biased story in a newspaper.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

You say that skateboarders are in places they shouldn't be? Such as a car park or a set of stairs? Most cities don't have a skatepark or it's the biggest piece of **** that anybody has ever seen. People who don't know a thing about skateboarding may say it's good, but the true skaters would rather skate something better, like a set of stairs.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Like my city for example, they built a skatepark here 4 years ago and it looked like they built it for less than $500. My city has a problem with skaters skating in spots their not supposed to, so they built that skatepark, they still have a skater problem. Three cities over from me built an awsome skatepark which they brought in designers, even got some kids to suggest special ramps to put in, now you barely see anybody that skates not at that skatepark.

Now on topic - all this has made me interested in skateboarding (safely of course :wink: ) where can I find a beginners guide/skateboarding 101 sort of thing.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

whatever not oging to argue, but again i tell you skateboarding is not something u can just achieve because u think u can, it's jsut luck and talent. it isn't liek runescape with all the guides where to put ur foot or somethign liek that, u can't possible write a guide like about basketball or somehting liek that. Also just dont' say skateboarding is a sport even if u think so, or don't post, thanks. If u do wana learn how to skate just buy a board go to a skate spot and ask some dudes to help u

i could give you a few tips.

 

 

 

-When you first buy a board, buy ONLY at skateshops. NEVER buy a board anywhere else (Walmart, Zellerz, Toys r s), jsut trust me, your walmart board will break in a week (mine broke in 4 days). A real board could last you for as much as a year.

 

 

 

-Skate in skate shoes otherwise your sneakers or runners will get ruined in a matter of days.

 

 

 

-If you have a skatepark by your house you are saved! Don't be shy jsut ask some older guys, they know what's up!

 

 

 

-Go to http://www.skateboarding.com to "TrickTips" and find a trick named "Ollie" that'll be the first trick u learn, watch some videos and stuff. Also youtube might help as well

 

 

 

-This one might sound stupid but don't give up! i know SOOO many people that give up skating cuz they can't learn a trick. Teenagers are like that, if you can't acomplish something in a short period of time, screw it. Just keep skating and you'll be fine.

 

 

 

-Also I never wore safety pads you might want to, they'll save you your elbows and knees:)

I have broken both my arms, my wrist, my foot and lots of fingers so be prepared for broken bones (or at least lots of sprained ankles).

Another tip is: Don't be afraid to fall. If your scared of getting hurt then this is not your sport, skateboarding has many risks with the bigger tricks and if your not willing to take the risk you will never be good.

yea it seems like 50% of youtube is skatebaording videos, no kidding, lol. it's a good [place to watch people skate, yea know, also buy a skate mag it might interest ya i recommend SkateboardMag or SBC Skateboarding, u can also buy Trasher or Transworld skateboarding but they kind of suck :)

I used to skateboard back in my "cool" 8-) days,back when Madonna ruled the airwaves and Mullets were rife in the nightclubs but stopped after a friend dared me to go off this massive ramp, i done it but duffed my leg up when the ramp broke when i hit it...shoddy workmanship :x

Haha, story for the kids. That's happened to me before. 5 ft quarter and had a clean blunt kickflip out, my back truck broke the wood and I slammed onto my back. I love when carpenters and city officials try to make a skatepark. :wall:

I swear that every time I skate, I hurt one foot/ankle or another.

 

 

 

I live out in the country, so most of my skating takes place on plywood propped up against cement blocks. That's probably one reason I get hurt so much... I only get to a skatepark two or three times per year, although when I get my new board, I might try to get to one more often.

I stopped skating after I tore my groin, pulled both achilies and some other stuff.. Mainly for soccer though, I didn't want any injuries during the outdoor season (which I could have gone to Nationals for).
