  1. I've played for nearly 10 years now. I was already an adult when I first started playing so I was past the stage in my life of wanting to go out every night and spent most evenings at home anyway. My husband started playing and he played so much that I thought if I played too it might be a good way to do something together instead of just having separate hobbies. I had never really been into gaming and runescape was the first mmo I played. I loved it. I found it to be fun and a relaxing escape while still having a social aspect to it. It has never been something I felt addicted to and I can't remember ever choosing runescape over a real life commitment or social event. It is just a fun hobby. Sometimes other adults will look at me funny when I tell them I play but these are the same people who sit and watch TV every night so I don't really see the difference. At least I am interacting with people. I have to agree with Blyaunte, it is a good way to socialize for those of us who have small children and who can't or don't go out all that much. I have made some very good friends who are now friends in game and/or outside of the game. For a long time I was an admin on another fansite which was a good way to meet people and work with them as well. As far as my play style goes, I like to work at a few goals at a time so I can alternate and not get bored with one. I am not a power skiller by any means and I only have one 99. I just play when I want to and work on what I can. I play a couple hours here and there, not every night, and I do other hobbies and activities as well. For the last couple years I didn't play much at all since I was playing another mmo but recently I have come back and found rs to be a lot of fun once again.
  2. I really have no idea who to vote for in the primary. I don't like any of the Republicans. Especially Romney though he will likely end up being the one with the nomination. He just strikes me as the same luke warm, middle of the road kind of guy who will do pretty much nothing in office. We need someone with new (or maybe old) ideas. I think the republican base really wants someone who is truly conservative and yet dynamic to get behind and there just isn't anyone like that out there right now. Regardless, the mess we are in has taken decades to get this bad and it is truly delusional to think that Obama or any Republican is going to be able to fix it in one term or perhaps even two. It is a long, hard road we are on and only an exceptional president and congress, and more so American people, who are willing to work hard and sacrifice are going to be able to fix it.
  3. I don't see anything wrong with the quest requiring that level. It might just give people like me a reason to level firemaking.
  4. I am curious about mechscape and I plan on trying it out. However, I am not that into sci-fi stuff so unless it is just an absolutely amazing game, I doubt I will play it all that much after the newness wears off. I have tried other games and I always seem to come back to runescape.
  5. I don't necessarily think we female players are underrepresented. I find that about half my friends are female. I have found a lot more female players at higher levels than lower levels, though. I think that may be because at lower levels we hide more to avoid all of the annoying comments that people already mentioned. I read an article a while back on msn that studied WoW and, I think, Everquest and found that the female population was less than males but increasing every year and when you got into the high level players, it increased by a large percentage. The female players also tended to be older than most of the males. Not really sure why that is but I have found it to be true on RuneScape as well. Personally, I prefer RuneScape to games like WoW because I am not into the whole competition aspect of the game. I don't mind combat but I would rather set my own goals and work on it or a skill and chat to people than do PvP or go on raids and group fighting. Stereotypical, maybe but I just find this more relaxing. I am not the stereotypical woman, though. I like cars and sports and computer games as well as some more traditional girly things like art and music and literature. I hate shopping, by the way, and only see make-up as a necessary evil.
  6. I'm left handed. I am pretty good with computers and other tech gadgets. I don't know how to do programming or things like that but I find if I have to learn anything technology related, I pick it up fairly fast. I'm also good at fine arts.
  7. If I get bored, I stop playing unless I am really close to a level or a goal. I have plenty of other things to do and to me the whole point of rs is to relax and have fun. If it stops being that then I stop.
  8. By far my biggest fail was forgetting to take off my fury ammy when I was runecrafting in the abyss. I, of course, got pked and when I got back to the Edge bank the pker was laughing about the noob wearing their ammy into the wild. It was then that I looked and realized I was the noob in question.
  9. Exactly. People here play it and also go so far as to post on an rs fansite but won't wear a rs shirt. If you guys are so ashamed that you play rs then maybe you shouldn't be playing it and coming here. Be true to yourself either way and stop being so afraid of what everyone else thinks.
  10. The numbers in my name are there for a reason that relates to the name itself. I didn't just stick them on there because I couldn't think of anything. I don't think it matters, really. If people want numbers in their names, who cares? That being said, if we are ever allowed to change our names I probably would. Not because of the numbers, though.

    Quitting Smoking.

Well said. Nicotine is one of the most addictive drugs and one of the hardest to quit if you are addicted. If you can't kick it on your own maybe try a program like Smoke Enders. A friend of mine did that and it helped her a lot. She hasn't smoked in years. Good luck!
  13. I don't think being "nerdy" is necessarily the issue. There isn't much difference in, say, the guy who spends hours a day playing rs versus the guy who spends hours a day working on his car. Both are hobbies and can take up a lot of free time. Different people play in different ways and just because someone is really good at it doesn't always mean it's because they play 24/7. The problem begins if people playing rs (or any other game or hobby) do it in unhealthy amounts and it interferes with their responsibilities like school or a job, or if it hurts their relationships with family, friends, etc. Again, that doesn't mean the person is a nerd so much as it indicates they may have some sort of emotional/social/mental problem that is making them want to escape into the game all the time and they can't control it.
  14. Yeah I did that originally. The only 2 results I got was an article about bank tabs and a list of quest related melee weapons, which helped only slightly. Edit: Ah, now I found it. Thanks, everyone. :)
  15. I always choose the exp lamp unless there is a piece of an outfit that I don't already have.
