CCleaner - Removes unused files from your computer.

 

Digsby - The best All-In-One IM client on the PC, bar-none, and It's only in beta.

 

Twins video converter - Converts just about any video to the format needed for your Ipod,Zune,PSP,or Mobile Phone.

 

Media Player Classic and TTPack - Play all windows meida, Real media and quicktime files in 1 small player.

 

WM Converter - Can convert various video files into WMV's, MP4's, AVI, FLV,or 3GP. You can also choose the quality of the converted video.

 

Miro - Free, open-source Internet TV/Video player. Will play ANY format of video imaginable. Great for Macs. It also acts as an aggregate for podcasts and video RSS.

IMG Burn - Simply the best most reliable application to burn and create Image Files of all types.

Foxit Reader - Free alternative to Adobe Acrobat used for viewing PDF files.

 

Open Office - Free Open Soucre Office Suite Alternative to Microsoft Office

 

Foobar 2000 - Free MP3 player. The most customizable media player you will find.

 

Mr. Questionman - Mr QuestionMan is an audio inspector. You can browse through your audio collection and it will show you useful information, like average bitrate, used encoder and settings, etc.

 

MP3Tag - Mp3tag is a powerful and yet easy-to-use tool to edit metadata (ID3, Vorbis Comments and APE) of common audio formats. It can rename files based on the tag information, replace characters or words from tags and filenames, import/export tag information, create playlists and more. The program supports online freedb database lookups for selected files, allowing you to automatically gather proper tag information for select files or CDs.

 

iCall - VOIP app that allows you to call home and cell phones anywhere in the world from your computer for free. Free users can only make calls up to 5 minutes though,but if you buy credits the calls can be as long as you want.

 

VOIPwise - VOIP app that allows you to call home and cell phones in certain countries,free of charge. Unlike iCall,there is no time restriction for free users,but you cannot call anyone in any country for free. You have to check out the website to see which countries you can call. You can also SMS to people in countries for free.

 

ViOrb - A cool little program for Windows, that gives you the Vista Orb instead of the Start button.

 

Paint.net - A digital photo editor, similar to Photoshop, except free.

FileBox eXtender I use this program to keep a window "always on top". (Windows only)

Firefox - Open source web browser. Much more secure and faster than internet explorer, and you can customize it with loads of free addons and themes.

 

Recuva - Excellent open source file recovery tool.

 

Process Explorer - A more detailed alternative to task manager. Shows process trees,gives a description for most processes and much more.

Unlocker - Fixes those pesky errors that stop you deleting, moving files. (eg "This file is already in use")

 

Pidgin - Nice IM client, handles many different services like MSN and Yahoo.

The Secunia Online Software Inspector I use this scanner to see if all the programs I download and never use are secure and up to date. (Quick time, iTunes, Java)

Orb - Amazing if you have an iPod touch/iPhone/any portable device with internet browsing and ability to play media. Basically, it lets you stream media (pictures, music, videos) from your PC to your device. I use it to watch movies on my iPod touch that are on my computer, the only downside is that I still have to convert them, and it doesn't work if your far from the computer.
