Guide To The Barrows Using Guthan, And POH!

This guide will hopefully help you learn the ways of doing the legendary Barrows with it's own Guthan set. It makes the trip more fun, exciting, andputs a kick back into barrowing.Not to mention making it more efficiant with little food needed for multiple runs. Also since the update of verac you will need more food or something to heal you with. Guthans does all this and whats more have a great defense too.

This will also you how to make the best use of your POH, no more long annoying walks from the ecto or to get your prayer recharged!

Requirments

1. Full Guthans.

What To Wear?

This shows what i wear using this setup.

Equiped:

- Guthan Helm

- Ahrims Top + Bottom

- God Cape

- Black Vambs

- Infinity Boots

- Glory

- Mage Book (Can Use Zammy or Guthix)

- Ring Of Life (ROL)

The helmet - Just for convincence and saving an inventory spot, if myou wish take ahrims hood and take out one less sara brew.

Ahrims - Important for mage bonus, can be subbed with mystic if you wish.

God Cape - Again magic bonuses, can sub with Obby Cape or Fire Cape.

Black Vambs - Not really suggested, i hate quests (and so recipie for disaster) if you have them wear armoured gloves such as rune, dragon or 'dark' gloves.

Infinity Boots - Important for mage bonus, can sub with either Mystic Boots or Wizard Boots.

Glory - Furys a lot better nuff' said. If you don't wish to bring an extra 5M down there dont bother. However Fury is far better.

Mage Book - Good mage bonus, can sub for Zammy book or Guthix (Sara just gives Mage defense).

Ring Of Life - Important! Taking 15M+ down there can be hard if you die for some strange reason. So it's very important.

Inventory:

Runes - For how ever many chests you wish to run. Using slayer dart of course.

Guthans - The rest of his armour for healing on in the tunnels.

Dragon Hide - Legs and body will do, for range bonus when defeating Ahrim.

Crystal Bow - Can be subbed with Mage Short (With Addy - Rune Arrows) or X Bow.

Spade - Do i really need to say?

Sheild - I use rune kite for its melee defense. Obby sheild can be taken but thats 600k more and Granite sheild is inferior to rune. In picture its a painted one.

Super Restores - For Prayer and giving your stats the boost after taking a Sara Brew.

Sara Brews - Heal nearly 50hp per pot, and so are better than sharks. You won't use this many but its nice to have.

Food - Lobbies at least. Veracs tougher so if you no pray him your going to eat.

Getting There

Since your supposed to have a decent understanding of the barrows and have visited before i'd think you know how to get there. So i won't waste your time. Basicallyhop on the boaty.

The Fights

- Dharok

BAsically dig, pray and kill. With a good mage bonus he's the easiest brother. He can't hit through prayer. However if your out of prayer your cutting it very fine. He becomes the hardest brother being able to hit nicley over and over and very high. So watch out. If you do with to fight him with no prayer use the sidesteps.

- Karlis

Now this is where a great mage bonus is really visable! You should with prayer be able to take him down very fast. If you choose to no pray him which isn't reccomended switch to guthans and take a whip or dds and kill him like that.

Outfit Change! - Now get into your Guthan Plate, legs and take out your sheild. (Even if you have prayer left!)

- Verac

Now Verac hits through prayer use the rest of prayer left over from Karlis on Verac. Get into the above position, the blue circle shows where you are safe, the red where you will go to attack him and are not safe. Always have your mouse in the bluse circle so if Veracs owning you, you can quickly move and eat without being hit.

- Torag

Again this shows the safe spots, dont bother praying even though he can hit hard and constant on rare occassions. Have your pointer on the blue circle to heal when you have too.

- Guthan

Since Guthan was my tunnel brother i didnt have to fight him yet. This still shows the safe sidestep spot which again you should utilise. He rarley hits and is the weakest of the brothers. Enjoy shoving his armour in his own face as he falls.

Outfit Change! Now switch to your range outfit.

- Ahrim

He has the ability to lower your strength so always leave him till' last if you are meleeing Karlis. He's easy enough but prayer is advised because he's more accurate then he used to be. Hits constantly high (15+)

Tunnels

- Healing

Now take out your spear and kill a few monster that lurk. I find bloodworms the best for leeching off. Do this till' full hp then go after your brother.

Kill him in the appropriate way as suggested above. Remember when goign through doors they can spawn, and do this in multiples! If you find yourself over powered run too the ladder climb up and come back down. You will have to search for your brother again but this time you will be more prepared.

Remember your route to the chest if you wish to do multiple runs.

- Chest

If he hasn't yet appeared he will be here. Do away with him then search your chest and either tele out (not reccomended) or go back up the ladder for another go. This will cost pots but save time.

If you choose to do multiple runs remember to bring enough pots, runes, arrows and such to do them.

Finishing Up

When you have done all this, and decide your running low and better tele after the chest click on yuor tele tab. This will take you home!

Now to use your house for all it cost! Simply go to your alter and pray.

Then to the portal room and Tele back to Canfis.

Now your back in the pub, steps away from the bank and ready to restock and go in for more!

Tips

For the Canfis teleport you need to install a portal room and have 100X the rune required for the average teleport. Thats100 bloods and 200 laws. Pretty good considering its infinite uses!

The alter is a BIG time saver no more teleing to cammy to charge your prayer its neatly here next to your portal.

Guthans makes this much cheaper. It combines the good defense of torag and an unlimited food source. So theoretically you could stay there forever.

Mage bonus is very important, no more splashing spells on Karlis!

Always remember the Tele Home Tab is a ONE CLICK teleport so if your in trouble just click it!

Your bringing a lot down here so double check you have everything to avoid sticky situations.

If you do not have Guthan, then you will need more food, less pots. So i reccomend sharks or sara brews for making your trips as long as possible. Remember this method can be used not just for Guthans. Simply skip the healing part and play armour with your inventory to get round the fact your unable to leech.

People (other than me) take Barrows quite seriously, huh?

All I take is Ahrims, 10 Prayer potions, a Crystal bow and some Karils + spell runes... IMO there's no need for all these Sara brews and Guthans sets concidering:-

1) Burgh de Rott bank is 2 minutes away.

2) The Brothers (other than Dharok) are weak and inaccurate.

3) The Tunnel monsters do jack to you....

I can usually do 4 chests per 8 sharks and I'm not risking over 10M :roll:

Several hours ago, he suddently realised that his is wearing his full set :P. (its a bug fix)

They call it a bug fix but it takes them ages to sort it out :roll: They just want it to become tougher.

As much of a nice guide as this is, its very innefficient, i personally dont use prayer pots at barrows because its a wasteinfact i always wonder why people always have prayer pots as a suggested item in their guides, someone should write one withooutthem for a change (come to think of it...) though a agree house tele tablets and a decent construction level help a heck of a lot, i think they probably shave 5 minuted off per trip.

How do can you use no Prayer potion...? Dharok > players with no Prayer :roll:

Sweet guide man. Can't fault it, which is what I usually do.

I do it with ancients, 1 dose a run I can stay there forever (vid coming later today)

why let verrac own you just skip him in his tomb and get him in the tunnel in the save spot . thats what i do all the time wither he is my tunnel brother or not i was kinda upset at the "bug fix" then i relised that i dont have to worry about it . the guide on the main site tells you all of this . but i thouhg i would rehash it

Nah it takes to long in the tunnels doing all that Jazz. I'd rather eat 1 lobbie or 2 and have him over with.

Although i use my POH with the alter and the portal (which you only need 49 with tea, or less, but my tea only gives me +1 con, dunno what im doing wrong, lol) i use arhims with veracs armor for prayer bonus and armor through the tunnels.

And she is good, just saying it happens. But in over 1k runs i never died so im not complaining either :D

Not everyone keeps their hp up in the tunnels for some reason, i see some people running in guthans with about half hp. You and i keep our health up, but not everyone else, no clue why.

On another note, why do we have so many kings of barrows?
