Good Suggestions for Carpentry an P-O-H

Recommended Posts

Here are some good suggestions that I hope Jagex does for Carpentry, and a new stat called Beastiary. Also how Farming and Carpentry can be worked into helping Player Owned Houses be a successful update.

I'll apologize ahead of time sorry about the length but hopefully its worth it. Tell me what you think. Also I think the quality of Jagex's updates is getting sloppy if they stopped just pumping out worthless updates and concentrated again on big things like all of this by the holiday, with just a few quests inbetween I would enjoy that much more. Leave your opinions :)

Carpentry-You should be able to make different wagons and carts. There would be different lvl carts that would have different lvl's to make. Then each cart could only be pulled by a couple of animals. For instance a chariot would have to be pulled by 2 horses, and couldn't b pulled by cows or oxen. For carpentry you would use nails from smithing(diff level nails from bronze-rune with different lvl breaking chances) to put your things together. You could make different, furnitures for your houses. Also you could make different level fences that go around your house. This is where you would keep you animals you're raising. (Just a possibility you could also make ships, using woodcutin, logs, crafting, sails, making it waterproof with caulk, smithing, nails, mining, nails, carpentry, planks......but then you would need a crew....either hire npcs or use friends, this would only be possible on one certain sea, I mean how fun would it be if you had about 2 hours with your clan, and you set up a boat, every1 bringing their skills to help and then crewed it across the sea to kill foreign creatures such as lizardmen, you could even have your bears to help you stored below deck in cages. When you were on the sea and that sea only, you would move just like normally, the captain would have a map and decide where to stop, it wouldn't jus show you bording and disembarking, you'd have to sail the ship the whole time. That would be the ultimate clan trip.)

Player Owned Houses-There would be a small neighborhood in the big cities. With shanties for low lvls, decent sized like suburban house for mid levels, an mansions for high lvls. You would have to pay a small price to buy a house like 30k to buy shanty, 150k to buy average house, an 400k to buy mansion. They would be like plots, it'd be yours but other people would have the same house. Their would be a couple different looks for each of the different level houses in cities(maybe not). Then around the houses their'd be some space. In this space their would be a couple spots to plant crops, only the simple crops, belladonna would still be in canifis, and such. Also in this space you could use carpentry and make fences. In these fences depending how you built them you could raise different animals with you Beastiary skill. They would range from cows, chickens, pigs, horses, to dogs, wolves, bears. Other than this the POH would just be something to show off when u had the mansion that was extremely lush with all plush dragonhide leather couches :)

Beastiary-You would start beastiary by being given a egg after completeing a quest from the Zookeeper in Ardougne. Then from this one egg you would raise a chicken around your house. As the chicken grew up you would get exp. Chick to Young Chicken to Chicken to Old Chicken. After you have done the quest you can get young animal drops from mammals, or egg drops from birds, reptiles, amphibians. Some of the animals that would be used for leveling while low but are kind of worthless would be chickens, pigs, and cows. Then as you leveled their would be different uses for the animals. For instance for transportation their would be horses, oxen, and camels. They would all be only able to pull certain things. Once you got the animal to be fully grown it would be able to survive on its own in the pen(their'd be a lake and grass). For fighting there would be dogs, foxes, wolves, tigers, bears, up to at the highest a dragon. You would have to feed them meat. They would have to be kept in cages in a shed next to the meadows. When you would feed them you'd slip the meat between the bars. When you wanted to go fightin, you would let them out and they would follow you and help you fight. They would not be allowed in the wildy, and they would have a certain amount of hp. They would die if they ran out of hp and you'd have to raise another. You could alway's raise them and then let the loose on the edge of some woods. However when you do this there'd b a cutseen of them running away, and then when it went back to normal screen they'd be gone. THEY COULD ONLY HELP IN NON MULTI COMBAT AREAS though.

Suggestions

taichi123-You could raise Dagganoths in the lake around your house.

You've got some really good ideas... but I don't like the part where your animals can help you fight; maybe just for faster transportation is enough...

I already have enough people stealing my kills, imagine a dragon rushing in and roasting them to death. ><

i mean ....

there are millions of ppl that will buy house

. even if there is a BIG space to put all the houses, mansions in.

you would have to walk like 10mins+ to reach your house

hope i did not read wrongly, coreect me if im wrong

It's sods law I would post about this subject in another subject, so check out the "another idea...possibly stupid" thread lol.

But to recap here...

With the carpentry skill you could make a chest to hold, for example, all your runes, that used only one bank slot, but once the chest was open, several different runes were accessable. Or a fishing tackle box to hold bait, feathers, nets, harpoons all in one easy place. No more scrolling through an ever increasingly untidy bank (or is that just me?) to find a brass key or an apple tree seed.

I agree with the chest idea.

I think they should have these kind of things to organise things, the key ring was a good idea. My idea is a bookcase, you could store up to say, 10 books to a bookcase more of it was a better and stronger wood.

You could store any of the books you get in the game as well as some more:

Quest journal: Talk to the lumbridge guide and ask about quests to be given it. You can use it to recieve help from npc's on quests, you show a npc a passage from the book or whatever (by highlighting or whatever) and certain npc's will give you advice.

Bestiary: Talk to any slayer master to get it, then when you encounter a new monster, you can use a piece of charcoal to sketch the monster, show the sketch to a slayer master to get additional information.

Sketch book: Certain areas and npcs in RS be drawn, talk to some of the inhabitants to learn what areas they believe are are beautiful, then go to that area and use charcoal with your book, if you are not in a good position it will display the message,'you can't get a good view from here'.

Also, if you want to sketch a npc you can ask, only certain npc's will have this option however.

The sketch book uses the crafting level, so what you can do depends on your crafting level, also you will recieve crafting exp for drawing.

Scrap book: A simple drawing program, just in case you have nothing to do during farming etc.

Note book: You can write short messages in here, you get the option to, 'tear out page' you can put these in pidgeon holders (on other people's POH's) or nail to your front door to tell people your not in etc.

Diary: Upon obtaining this, every time you obtain a skill you will have the option to write in your diary, you have to be carrying it, although you can replace it with the quest journal button. You can also type in any other events.

Atlas: A map of the world and other areas, you can plan routes on this (you can draw simple lines on it) and mark locations (an arrow will appear on your min map whilst the atlas is in your journal)

Manual: The runescape manual, a copy of the one on the homepage, this means you don't need to open a new window to view.

Big book of RS history: Displays information collected from your travels, means you can brush up on your runescape history easily (only history your character has heard since obtaining will be displayed)

The big book of RS dietys: Tells you all about the runescape gods known to exist, you'll have to update it yourself however.

Contact book: Lets you record all the people you don't have space to save in your friends list, you cant PM them over this however, although you can type in a name a send a message that will be deleivered to their POH (if they have one)

That's all I can think of for now.

Good thread :D

that last idea rules.

anyway:

there are 34 member worlds

there are

19 citys(aprox depending what you count) plus 5 more city scapes in open areas: 24

34*24*1=816

and thats only with one house in each area

with 33 house on each area there would over 26k of houses which is about the max at anyone time people can get on to runescape members

round it up to 40 houses per area you have 32640 houses that seems quite alot doesn't it.

Implement stuff like sharing a house it shoots up to about 50000 people in houses, then add stuff like a second floor its about 75000 people in homes.

What about a guild hall, no need for a house for about 20 people, 1 in each area that 16000 more people in house, what else would you need. about 5000 people can't or won't have a house for money reasons.

Then what about the little shanty towns that spring up in one plot from a bunch of noobs living togther thats another 2000 people in houses. so thats what 98k people living in houses.

What about a mansion, maybe some spare rooms for the staff(people who cook and clean the house) players of course no on want to clean up after a party that 10 people per mansion per say at about 30 mansions a world thats another 8000 people housed. Thats 108k of people done.

What about a few flats 5 in the main 3 citys lets say 15 per world thats 15*34=510 flats, with 4 floors and 5 apartments on each thats another 10000. Anything else what about a few shops about 10 per city i think 180 per world thats 6000 more in houses. Thats 124k of places to live.

Then jagex will do something like release new places increasing the number of houses more and more. Then you have the odd person who get some deserted island somewhere (dragontooth?) thats another 1600 making 125000 houses. Then all the extra 50 houses here and there takes it to about 126000 houses.

But someone will buy 2 or 3 or whatever, then what the shops fine that means they dont really need a house because they have a house on the back of the shop. So they rent it out to people '10k a week to live in ****lane fally.' So then you get landlord raking in money off people living in their homes.

But then the late comers have no chance of getting a house, so runescape rents the houses to people you dont buy a house you bid for it in an off game page, pay your 500k or what ever then every month you pay another 50k or whatever to runescape. You suddenly have money going out instead of just sitting on a house renting it to the late comers. The landlords want the money or they lose the house, putting many people off the idea.

The rich people who spent 30mill on a massive mansion then has to make 300k a month or they lose the house. But thats hardly fair what if you ill or something and can't make the 300k, you get a second month to pay up or that it you get booted off. all the money you make goes straight to the rent until you have payed 300k then you can look forward to next months bill or even this months bill.

But why get a house its hardly that useful other than a bank or something like that. Until you start putting stuff in like:

An anvil

A spinning wheel

A garden (maybe?)

A few cows to milk

A butter churn or a cheese maker

A bee hive maybe

A small herb garden for you food

A cave under the garden to hunt beasts

A tree to make bows

An alter to pray at

Or doing stuff:

A party

A few mates over to have a quiet fight

A walk in the garden

A trek through the jungle(where is your house?)

Show off

Put silly signs up(If you lived here then Your would me)

Smash up some funiture

Break some windows

Grow a crop of herbs

Sell stuff in your shop

Make stuff for your shop

Who knows there could always be an update that helps you.

Thats just me though there are going to be plenty of houses.

Well I knew you wouldn't agree. I know how you hate facing facts.

Uhm, I assumed it would be like farming, where everybodys house is in the SAME spot, and only you can view it.... Unless I totally misunderstood your post.

They have to do houses right or Runescape will lose about 1/4 of its members.

Houses are pretty much they last chance.

If houses are just to look at loads of people will leave

If houses are in the same spot, and you cant go to anyone elses, loads of people will leave or grumble alot.

If houses are like my idea, most people will have a house, most of them will be happy. And we have waited long enough... If it was like farming then they would have copyed the code, and then slightly changed it.

It has to be good...plz

Well I knew you wouldn't agree. I know how you hate facing facts.
