  1. Well, in my opinion, this is a fairly depressing topic. And, to bring a little light to it, let me point a hole in your logic. I could not tell you a suicide story about myself... because... well, it's what is a called a paradox. Now, for my two cents. When i was in school, it always was very hard for me to get along with people. (Yes, i'm in grade 10, but know i'm homeschooled and in a totally different situation. A much nicer one.) I was a nerd, not that great around girls, and hung around with a kid with asthma, an okay basketball player and a really short kid called Elwood. I got teased a bit, but never bullied. It got bad enough for my brother that we had to leave that school, and to tell you how bad it was, there was a guy who came there, and in two days he left crying and never came back. He didn't commit suicide though. I have never thought about suicide, and in my opinion it is a pretty pathetic way to go. I'm not calling anyone pathetic or anything, it's just i feel that not putting up a fight to the last doesn't feel like a completed life. I have never had an occasion to call the help or distress lines, and i don't feel an inclination to. I've never done drugs, smoked pot, gotten drunk... etc. And i've also lived a fairly privileged life. I'm what they call a 'clean' kid. I feel though, that suicide is all about people that refuse to take responsibility for their actions, and when they finally do, they realize that it is too late and they kill themselves. It happens all over, and not neccesarily to people. Governments commit suicides. Economies commit suicides. Hell, even religions commit suicide, and a lot more than people would imagine. Now, peopel that believe that there is nothing left for them to do but die are wrong. If you look at yourself in a mirror, you still have yourself. Even if your body is mutilated and all your hopes and dreams in life are gone, you still have yourself, your still alive. I am one of those people that believe that life is sacred in a very unreligious way. It just is. People need to realize all around that really, life and hope are there, and nobody can take that from you easily unless you allow them too. So people who think about suicide, step back, and even though you may have nothing left to live for, walk over to the nearest shelter and ask for help. You won't regret it. Thanks for reading my post. ~Elphinstone
  2. Well, i don't think that caused an increase in price, but i hope the new leader of Spiritz isn't as... demanding... as the previous seems to have been. :XD:
  3. Eh... Do you actually understand how the stock market works? In general, there is something called a bubble, and it is the price off the items (Lets take an abby whip) at about 2.5 mil. Okay, when more people start buying this item, the price goes up, as the demand goes up. When more items are added, the price goes down. That's the basics of the market. But, ocasionally, the demand and the price of an item is so high, and the supply of that item is so low, that there comes a period of investments. (Well... people holding on to items to sell them later, like rares) Then, lets go back to the abby whip. Okay, let say teh whip goes up to 3 mil because so many people want one. Then the price just keeps going up, and it won't stop, even though people are okay with a set price. The merchants keep raising the price to make more money, and then, well people stop buying them becasue they are so expensive. And then, the price begins to drop. Fast. everyone is trying to get rid of the whips, and trying to sell at a lower price than an opponent to get rid of the whips. Consumers (us) then begin to buy these new low price whips before the price stabalizes. the people who invested then lose alot of money. This has happened in RL, and with the economy as it is in RS, it could happen there too.
  4. It's quite simple to grasp really. Unlike real life, we are not only going through a middleman and not taking items directly from the source, which WOULD be unethical, we are going through a computer middleman, which in no way checks to see who sells the logs and doesn't give the seller any profit when you buy the logs. You also can't seperate the logs that were cut by real players from the autoers, so boycotting won't get you anywhere, especially in a game as uncaring as RS. If you really want to make a difference, then go on reporting those autoers and go on buying the logs and doing your own thing. Unlike real life, it's a game, and it will eventually resolve itself.
  5. Anytime Stallion :XD: Anyway, if i were offered a position as a Player Moderator, I would probably accept it, just because I would feel so pumped up to be chosen to be one. But anyway, when I look over it for a bit, i realize how much the P-Mods have to go through and go hmm... is that worth it? To me it would be. Getting respect, especially in a game like RS, is hard enough already. If i can prove that i'm a good P-Mod, then i would be able to have that respect! Then i look once more and go... wait a sec... i'm relying on a position to get authority! That won't do, and i go back to my old mining and question answering ways. It's how life is. Once the novelty wears off, you have to deal with the problems. It seems to me that being a Mod may actually be harder than it looks, unless, of course, you abuse your power. But that's another dimension entirely. ~Elphinstone
  6. Well, not much i can say, because that is actually true. This was more of a protest in the first place to say: Wake up, see what is really going on. No matter what you think these people did, they are just players. Sometimes they are abusive and horrible players, but you have to live with that. And my thread did NOT say that P-Mods are nice people (Which i'm fairly sure that most of them are) But that they deserve respect unless they do something to lose that from people. They should be able to be like other players, not have this cover of a godlike presence or an evil aura. I too started by treating P-Mods like that when i started playing. Then i realized... HEY! i would never automatically treat someone like that in real life, so why should i treat them like that in a game. I automatically defer to a Mods decision in most matters, because i don't bother to argue with them, but when something rubs me the wrong way, then there is no way i'm going to take orders from anyone, except maybe a Jagex mod. And if anyone has complaints, then by all means, say them. I don't mind having people voice critiscism on mods, after all, it's their opinion, and it's a generally free world folks! ~Elphinstone EDIT: Thanks Gryphon. You pretty much just summed up my post in two quotes. Also, I don't mind the comment about the humour sucking, because sometimes that is true. (I said SOMETIMES!)
  7. I think you guys pretty much got the idea. :D This thread was directed at all the people who post saying that P-Mods should know better... Stop scamming people... etc. Really, there are p-mods like that, but not all of them are like that. Take Stallion for instance : As for the both sides of the argument... well, you get to look at all the bad stuff that player mods do, but does anyone ever post on the good things that P-Mods do? I have seen a mod quickly respond to people using racial epithets, and at the same time answering a level 13's questions. It takes a lot to do that, especially when i was that level 13.
  8. Yes, thats generally what i do, i don't think they find me funny though... :-$ Anyhow, i really don't think they need all the slander we sometimes throw at them.
  9. There are a lot of people, who, in general, either think that P-mods are gods, or absolutely hate their guts. I think the correct response is somewhere in between. There are a lot of threads pointing out the deficiences in P-Mods, but we must not kill these people each time they point these things out, as it is human nature to criticize people in power, but sometimes these people go too far. We must realize that P-Mods are people that have been awarded extra powers for being good members of the community, and should be treated just like you would treat any other player. (Unless you are some lowlife that swears at everyone.) I'm not saying all P-Mods are nice and responsible people, some aren't, and abuse their powers horribly. Jagex Customer Support are also people, so don't forget that they have to sleep. The issue should be dealt with, and, the least you can do i speak out against the Mod in public if you believe they have been doing something wrong. You can also appeal mutes and have something to show for it. Now, there is the opposite to that... The people who think P-Mods are stuck up pigs who always abuse their power. Those people are probably the worst kind of people, as they take every chance to yell: "The Player mod is a n00b!!! He's lying to us!!11". I saw that exact thing happen during the first TET event. Everyone blamed the mod for not knowing where Zidanect was, and at worst, doing it on purpose to mess us all up. In fact, the Mod was telling the truth, but only the people who teleported got there intime before Zidanect moved on. In short, i believe that while there are a few bad P-Mods, most are just like you and me, people that have been playing for a while, got used to the game, and are now expected to help moderate it. It can be a big task. I, while not exactly happy about a lot of things that some Mods do, believe that Mods do not need and increase or decrease in power, nor do they need slander or heralding as gods. They need Respect. ~ Elphinstone
  10. Gosh people... do you ever learn? Sure we all would like to have all the members stuff become f2p until there is nothing left in members, and the macroers totally own the world. {/end sarcasm} Now, there are a few functional problems with f2p, but we are playing a game that nromally would cost money to play. This is a better free trial than ANY game has. Except the free ones of course. I really don't see why people keep making these threads, as Jagex certainly has seen enough of them, and will make changes in their own time.
  11. Nah -- probably just an insult. Look how they keep calling each other "n00b" Oh, nice observation... but the mod is trying to throw us off course AGAIN. But who knows... he could be telling the truth. We should all spam s1acker until he tells us.
  12. Not neccesarily. Remember that it is fairly hard to bank in a POH unless you have your servant do it for you. You should also need a high smithing level to be able to make the furnace work for those kind of ore. Also, since a rune rock requires 100 rune to make and takes half an hour to respawn with only a few points to place rocks, i don't think it's going to make things that easier.
  13. No... Dragonfable is to WoW as WoW is to RuneScape. LOL. I think you all are missing an important point. My level 7 character on DragonFable could own Zezima in a few hits. Hell, it could own all of you in a few hits. No comparison though... :XD: Runescape is teh ownage!
  14. well, who won? would have been there, but time problems with me too.
  15. Purple gloves, FTW :XD: oh ya, and a whole host of other stuff. Fav is zombie mask. My comp is screwy, ill see if i can get a picture up later.
  16. I did it without a quest guide... i did it at like level 20 before i even knew about Tip.it. Most of the people down there were really confused, but they just don't get the idea of pulling one lever... then another... then another... the whole thing is just time consuming. F2P: Prince Ali Rescue. It's quite hard to find most of the items if you don't know where to look, and the gaurds totally own you at level 30. i randomly guessed her hair colour for the wig though. P2P: Hmm... Monkey Madness... or Desert Treasure... Maybe Legends... Who knows? so many hard ones out there.
  17. +1 +1, or world 7 for the Kah Baa Gee. The only other world i play on is the free 125 for my brother.
  18. Yeah... yeah... yeah. NO. Are you telling me to sell my iron ore to a store for 2 gp? How does one make 100k or 1 mil like that? Second, very rarely does a price that a merchant has rise above the actual market price of the item in a general store. For example, all the smithers sell rune at around 75kish, to entice people to buy from them, not Oziach. Your logic is flawed, and i can't follow it. The RS economy is fine as it is, and the fact that there IS a store price is what is keeping the prices low. The prices won't vary that much unless players start owning stores. Then there would be a stock market, and crashes and etc... Honestly, i disagree. Don't fiddle with what isn't broken. ~Elphinstone
  19. Man, that is what happens. If you ever watched the Winter Olympics speedskating, you would know what i mean. It's just like that. Canada got third from our guy who crawled across the line, and the guy in the very back won. But yeah, it didn't look like it was on purpose, because you can die from crashes. Not Cool.

  21. Yeah, that nerd would probably be me in my community. But anyway... As i see it, I don't see much to worry about, since it's a psychological thing, and people make bigger deals of normal things on this day. But... I'm just not going to turn on the news. Anyway, bday tommorow, so i DON'T CARE. HAH. 3 hours of Battlefield with my friends. what could be better? ~Elphinstone P.S. Is it just me, or is something tapping your shoulder? :ohnoes:
  22. Nobody EVER asks this, BUT WHAT WORLD??? if you are going to be running it consistently, you might as well tell people what world. Second, what are you going to be teaching anyway? I already know pretty much everything i can about RS.
  23. Well, let's see if i can win! RSN: Hylana And guess what. F2P! :XD: Ha, got you there.
  24. Doesn't mater, if you didn't report him at the incident, then the report won't do anything. Second, it's not an offence. If you go into the wildy then you can expect to die. Simply refuse to trade in the wildy. He did nothing 'wrong' except lying to you, and that's only an offence if he scammed you out of items. Where you go is your choice.
  25. Well... welcome to the Tip.it forums. Very few people tell that much about themselves except on rants on the off topic forums. Thanks. :XD: Anyway, I like anyone who uses excessive smilies. Welcome again. :XD:
