3 tests, this is the middle one, with the worst ping. Also, this one was done on a server in the same city as me. Something I hadn't thought about is this is an unlimited data plan, which I guess means they get to hose my speed in return for not charging my mortgage in monthly internet fees. Uni is much slower download (like .3 or something), but a bit faster on the upload, and with better ping. Depends on the time of day though.
  2. Yeah, my computer finally stopped being silly and made the breaking sound clear. All the boosters work, but the main engines break every time. Also, sometimes the rocket just strait up explodes because why not.
  3. I think I need to remake some of my rockets. Either the modded parts don't agree with the last update, or my something is wrong with the rocket as it is now refusing to leave the launchpad.
  4. So I decided to use my phone to do voice recordings of my dreams when I wake up, so that I can transcribe them later (and thus have them be legible). One of the things that happened to me with the journal, and apparently works with a phone too, is that I would wake up and think about recording the dream, and then go back to sleep and dream myself doing that which normally wakes me back up and I record it for real). Last night, I recorded two dreams on my phone (or so I thought), during a third dream, all without waking up once. In one way, its a pity because I think those dreams are lost forever (unless my dream phone has working dream memory and can play back previous recordings in future dreams, which would be very awesome but I don't think that will work). On the other hand, if this is going to happen, it gives me a real shot at lucid dreaming. All I have to do is train myself to do a reality check every time I go to record a dream with my phone. I figure the easiest thing to do is a reflection check, which should always work because I can see my reflection in the screen before I light it up, so there will always be a mirror handy.
  5. We're at like $1.39 a litre for highest here, if not higher (which is the price I pay any attention too since both my parents cars drink that).

Michael bay directs explosive man flicks that make enough people happy that he can do whatever the hell he wants. Dude seriously needs to make Bad Boys 3 though. Following the progrssion of Bad Boys 1 to Bad Boys 2, Bad Boys 3 should pretty much be one continuous 120 minute car chase/gunfight while Will Smith and Martin Lawrence yell at each other. Will Smith and Martin Lawrence also need to be in more movies together before they both get super old. Also, unless the Ninja Turtle comics contain a lot more blowing shit up than I have been led to believe, that's not all that's going to be different.

I'm so glad I don't live someplace where people take to the streets like that. Just seems like a huge inconvenience. "We're promoting our cause by holding up traffic and making you late for medical appointments! Hurah!" Another stupid warm day here. Going back to spring tomorrow though. Nice while it lasted.
  8. Yeah, but in Nova Scotia, and New Brunswick there is a little you can go up or down on the price so you can still get screwed if you don't pay attention, let alone that most cities have lower prices than towns for some reason, where I live it is always around 5 cents more than the nearest city on average, along with the differences between stores. That's annoying. I thought it was solid province wide. Also, I think their wiggle room is like 3c + whatever limit there is on stuff like the ultramar card, or I think its Esso that does 3c off on thursdays or something. I normally see gas stations as the same price all through the city (I think, I don't actually pay a whole lot of attention to them). What I love is how gas is more expensive in the maratimes than it is in say Ontario, despite the cost of shipping the crude out there (not sure if Ontario gets from the tar sands of Halifax Harbour, either way its quite a haul).
  9. I think its worth fighting to keep the game the way it is, rather than cave to the instant gratification generation. As long as there are still enough of us that actually enjoy the game in its current format, it should stay that way, and people who don't like that should suck it up and not play (obviously people are going to try to cheat, but people do this in literally every game where its possible). When there aren't enough people left who enjoy RuneScape to keep it afloat, then it should go the way of Classic and make way for a new game, one that caters to people who want all the rewards without any of the work (which is a hilariously bad way to prepare you for life unless your born into old money). As it stands, I would rather see RuneScape die honest to its roots and be replaced, than see it be destroyed by the people who feel the need to bot. I want to see the game go out with honor when the day comes.
  10. My brain too likes to use the ones that got away, or the ones I never had the courage to act on, in my dreams. It's like, hello brain? I'm in a freaking relationship with another person now, could I maybe dream about them for a change? Thanks.

I'd just like to know why other people think life is so much better than death. I'm still here because I can't leave other people behind. My family would be completely devastated if I were dead, and I'd rather them not be devastated. The way I see it, the whole point of life is to create more life. The prime responsibility of any species is to survive long enough to reproduce, thus ensuring its continued existence. We are self aware, self sustaining chemical reactions that circumvent our mortality and finite life spans by creating offspring. For me, the point of life in general is to self-perpetuate. As for me, I want to experience life. At the end of the day, I don't know what comes next, if anything, so I might as well make the most of what I have now, because its probably my only chance. I am lucky enough to exist, so why not take every moment of that gift and make the most of it. Just here to have fun and experience the great experience.
  12. I think I can honestly state that I have no idea what anyone in any of my dreams has ever said (myself included). I know that my subconscious is a lot better at remembering songs than my conscious mind is, because I've dreamed that I was listening to music before, and I know that my dreams can simulate quite a bit of text and keep it steady enough for me not to notice its a dream (hell, 2 days ago I dreamed I was writing my dream down while the sleep paralysis was still active and I was semi conscious). Going through my journal to see if I ever quoted anything and forgot about it, and found what I remember was one hell of a dream. Took a few goes through it to bring it back, but some of the pictures are still there. I really need to work on my legibility in the morning, so I think I have lost one of the nights dreams forever due to not being able to read it, but I found this gem: "only way to fight aliens/zombies is with a kirby like device" I really wish I could remember that. I remember I was in some sort of facility protecting two people from some sort of invasion thing, and I had a very round weapon. I think it might have been a laser gun shaped like kirby. I've also apparently talked to "two polar bears and my brothers husky". What I really need is something to record my voice (I feel like my phone could do this actually), so that I can just say everything as it comes to me, before I start to forget, and then transcribe it once I'm awake and able to print in a manner that I might actually be able to read.

Agreed with the hair thing. As a general rule (there are some exceptions), society receives short hair on men a lot better than long hair. Long hair can send messages you really don't want to be sending (non-conformist is a bonus on only a handful of jobs, much like tattoos). For the facial hair, if you can pull it off, then it can be an asset. A mustache or short beard + mustache or a van [bleep] can make you look older or more mature. Girlfriends can be a huge asset in how realistic facial hair is for you, and which style you should go for. If facial hair isn't you, either because it makes you look like a bum or a 13yo trying to grow a mustache, then clean shaven is definitely the best bet. It helps to show you take pride in your appearance (if combined with things like neat hair and short + clean nails), and it looks good on pretty much everyone. Dizzle, thank you for that. I now feel much better about my meager geography knowledge which has on occasion gotten confused about which countries are part of what continent, but I can find Australia and I've never confused Denmark the country with the city. I also know roughly where the panama canal is. Vezon, rather than ask why life is important to everyone else, you should be asking why its important to you (your still here so the assumption is you care about it enough to keep it going).
  14. As a point about the sitting position, 90 deg is great, but only if your sitting on stool or something else without a back. The problem with chairs is that the back allows you to sit up with a lot less muscels active, which transfers a lot more load directly onto your spine that should be supported by your core (abdomen muscles). If your going to use a chair with a back, your better off leaning back like that picture shows, so that the back of the chair can actually help support the weight of your upper body without slowly crushing your spine. Ideally, you would have a chair that can support your head too, and your monitor would be floating so that you don't need to tilt your head forward to see it. This would also require you to be able to touch type. In practical terms, the healthiest way to use a computer would be to have the keyboard at waist height, and the monitor up around shoulder level, and spend half your time standing, alternating with sitting on a tall backless chair. Alternatively, you can suspend your monitor from the ceiling, lay on your bed looking at the ceiling, and invent a keyboard that is made so you can have half of it on one side, half on the other, and one half has a track ball because trying to use a mouse on a bed is an exercise in frustration. Problem here is it makes it harder to sleep, because now your body is trained to think being on a bed means computer games, instead of the more ideal being on a bed means sleep time.
  15. The thing that any test on the internet lacks, be it 30 questions or 30,000, is an analysis. On the internet its just tallying up your score and spitting out an answer based on that count. This is not how these things are diagnosed. I agree that things like the thoughts of suicide are a problem, and if your in that space you probably need some help from an outside source, but what you need to go with it is a person who can understand why you have thoughts of suicide. Is there a chemical imbalance in your head or does your life feel like your living through a gypsy curse and its just the stress. There are a lot of tests that make excellent tools, but on their own, without interpretation, you might as well read your astrology description and go with that.
  16. First off, the point about it being Jagex's game and rules is totally valid in my eyes. You agree to a terms and conditions when you join, which dictates that you either play their game and follow their rules, or you don't play at all. It really is as simple as that. The game is a privaledge, not a right, which means access is on Jagex terms. If they want to turn RuneScape into an oppressive super strict game, that's their prerogative. If they want to turn it into anarchy, they can do that too. What any of us think means absolutely nothing beyond whether we play their game or not. At the end of the day, that is the only voice we have that counts for anything. That said, I see botting as selfish and pointless. It's selfish because it does impact other players, by taking up training spots and impacting the economy. It is an ultimate expression of putting your own goals and enjoyment before anyone else, without consideration of other people. But everyone could bot and then it wouldn't be a problem... Which takes us too pointless. If everyone botted, then its just your computer playing with Jagex's servers. Everyone would eventually be maxed in everything (or everyone would be banned and the game would shut down), and no accomplishment would mean anything. It would just be millions of computers talking to Jagex's servers for a game that would quickly become meaningless, and wasting internet bandwidth and electricity in the process. At the end of the day, botting is like trying to play RuneScape in God Mode. Sure, it would be really fun to be able to do anything without any work for a little while. Might even get a good week or two out of it. And that would be it. The whole appeal of the game, from a psychological point of view, is the achieving of goals. Without that, the game is about as close to being objectively boring as is possible. Without that dopamine release that comes with achieving something, you would get bored of the game very quickly. And don't say you just want a pker or a staker. If you want to fight people, there are probably more than a hundred games out there with better combat mechanics than RuneScape for that sort of thing. If you *really* need the RuneScape experiance, go buy some 20 sided dice and go wild. You don't need to RuneScape to have a random number generator. You don't even need a computer. Otherwise, there are plenty of games that require more skill and less luck in their combat, with much easier access to the possible strategies that don't require a weeks grinding to afford equipment and gain the levels. At the end of the day, if you feel the need to bot in RuneScape, then you shouldn't be playing the game anymore because you obviously don't find it fun.
  17. I tell people my friends list is full, which depending on the day is either the truth, or very close to it (my list doesn't drop below about 185/200). Every once in a while I go through the list and remove all the names I don't recognize, to make more space.

Control. It's a show of power and authority. They are saying "Look at us. We can make you do whatever we want and you have to obey." It's also a form of punishment for the people they take the children from left over from the previous uprising (saying look at what rebelling does. Now we kill your children). And lastly, its a form of entertainment for the people who live in the Capitol. Gladiator combat, of a sort.

I don't play on a server. When I want other people in my world I open it up to some of the people in my clan (my computer doesn't mind, though my internet can only support like 2 additional people). Still working on my monster prison/bunker. I think I fudged the cells, which aren't nearly big enough. Should be double the current height, and I might need to lose the enderman spawner (because most of the bunker is a 2m ceiling). Definately some things I would do different if I were to built this again (layout being key). Even once the the ground is hollowed out, there is still a lot of work if I want to make it look nice, especially in my super villian lair which is a glass ceiling under a lake (which was a royal pain to build). I also made a proper blast door to counter creepers, complete with a water shield to prevent the door from blowing out. Then I locked at the way the circuits were laid out (keeping in mind no redstone passes the water shield), and I now realize that even if the door survives, there is a good chance that either the circuit holding it closed will be blown out, or the actual pistons will be lost (which would actually be ideal since that would lock it shut with the water shield intact). Its still good experience building multiple circuits in close proximity (lesson being, never do this if you can avoid it), and teaching the value of making a preliminary floor plan. I'm also hoping that my plan of using the server to convert the world back to survival (which will only work as long as its on the server client) will actually work properly, and allow the monster spawners to function. My next design for something like this might leave the creepers out of it (I'll find some other way to allow the monsters to spread, probably with the use of timed explosives to simulate some sort of malfunction), which would give me a lot more liberties with design. Problem with creepers is they will blast a lot of the structures out and make it impossible for anything but a spider to escape since nothing else will be able to jump out. Heck, might even start on a second base before this one is finished. Or more likely, retrofit the current complex. Discovered a giant underground canyon though, and cool as it is, its totally making headaches by limiting how far down I can go in certain areas.
  20. That seems like an unpleasant way to wake up. I woken up at the dream point of death before (well, a bit before, or else my dream just sucked at simulating pain), and I did so by practically jumping out of bed, and I was in no rush to go back to sleep.

I learned from my brother and personal experience and my peers, who learned from experience and his peers. Adults are hit and miss, mostly depends on how much of an innocent little angel they think you are (more being worse, because that normally leads to the answer of you don't need to know yet). From my perspective, a few not so serious relationships are probably a good start, because you learn the ropes before things do get serious and your stressing out about it. On a totally unrelated note, we have decided to skip spring for the time being and go right into summer, with a temperature of 26 degrees (Celsius), which is pretty much as warm as it ever gets here (in August, our hottest month, which might have a couple days at 30-32). Tomorrow its forecast for 9 degrees, with a slight possibility of snow next week, and below freezing again this Saturday (basically we're trying to fit a years worth of weather into 7 days). I knew it was warm when I woke up, and decided to go with jeans and a shirt, walked out the door and right back in to change into my more summery sneakers, shorts and a tank top. Freaking awesome. And on a side note, possibly because its so sunny and warm out, but shit got done today.
  22. There's normally a combination of fn key + another key to activate/de-activate it. Also if you dual boot check you haven't de-activated it in the other OS as for me it carries over. This is what I was thinking, though I think now its more common to have a dedicated button to turning it off (depending on how old the laptop is and what case its using). My last/current laptop has a button that blends right into the case on the top of its track pad, which I have hit a few times on accident. It also has a light that turns from blue to orange if you turn it off. So yeah, I think the most likely thing is you found the track pads off switch or key combination.
  23. Heh, my body has seemingly fixed its sleep cycle so that I no longer wake up during a REM cycle (which is cool cause that's not fun because you just want to go back to sleep). I am also now hitting 3 or 4 brief awakenings a night (I can remember these most of the time, which I don't think is normal). It makes it much harder to recall dreams though. 90 minutes should be about right. It's a short REM cycle (they get longer the longer you sleep), but its probably the easiest one to hit.

You should date someone when you actually want to be with them, not just whenever you want to say that you have a girlfriend. The fact that there's more than one person that you'd like to date isn't a good sign... That said, pretty sure he's 14...don't know how many 14 year olds actually have serious relationships... A 14 year old doesn't need to be in a relationship. =/ Heh, first time I fell in Love was grade 4 (so 9 yo). I had a crush on another person in grades 6 and up (first one moved away), but could never do anything about it because they we're already dating someone else. And I thought the ending to the hunger games was really good. If I hadn't been to tired to keep reading, and it hadn't been 4am when I finished, I would have picked up the second book immediately. Hard to give higher praise than that.
  25. They can't raise the prices to make the money back in all the Provinces though. Some of them, like New Brunswick and Nova Scotia have the province set the price once a week based on what they expect the price of oil to be. Of course, this also means they can't really price fix either.
