"Balls based solution" and one of the guy's titles was "Chief of Tools:  It doesn't matter if things are obvious or not. Everyone with a Calandaer knows whats going on by now, so why not have some fun lol.

Today I am holding up in my room because I don't want to put up with real life April first bull shit (Its fun online for the most part, but I do NOT like this day in real life). 1 day a year when I know I'm going to be a hermit.
  3. They aren't supposed to drown out every single external noise :P They would need to be ludicrusly loud to do that. And be warry of doing that with earbuds. They block a bit more sound (well mine do, but they also literally plug your ear), but they need a lot less volume to reach the point where they cause hearing damage (because they are blocking the end of your ear canal).

Not sure. I've made it a side project (I only do one big thing per day on the computer, and right now that's Kerbal Space Program). It probably is an option some place, but as I said, I am warry of even trying to install my OS again while its still in use on 'another' computer. I do not want to risk having my copy invalidated or something. If I remember, I'll get on with the installation tomorrow.
  5. Got to hand it to you, you've definitely thought this through. I normally don't even know what I'm going to do until a few minutes after I log in. It will be intersting to see if you can get it all done in two years. Getting all those skills alone would be tricky for your average joe, let along all the other stuff that trimmed comp requires. Still, its good to have goals, and we all have to start out someplace. And even if this does end up taking longer than planned, its one hell of an achievement. Even in a few years I think the number of people with this cape will still be in the tens, which puts the owners in a very tiny percentage of the global population ~1.7e-6 %
  6. CONTACT! After many hours, and a couple misses, history has been made over Kerbin, as Upsilon Gamma performed the spacial maneuver 'ramming' against fellow rocket Upsilon Beta at 200,307m above the surface of our planet. Beta then returned the favor by giving Gamma a nudge, as can be seen here: Both rockets will soon be deorbited, and their crews debriefed. Now that we have proven that space rondevouz are indeed possible, we will begin work immediatly one creating parts that will allow rockets to dock with one another. And that took a long time, a lot of practice flights, and a boat load of patience, with more than my fair share of screw up along the way to get that picture. Both rockets still have main engines with enough fuel to perform at least semi controlled de-orbiting procedures (which is good because RCS would take forever on rockets that large). I spent a while trying to get them to line up nose to nose. I suspect if I oriented one to nose up, it would roll as it orbits rather than spin end for end, and make sure a maneuver possible. Good test of piloting and orbiting skill though. Not as easy as the video made it look. I also love how at about 300m out, it removed the nav icon, which would have been nice for knowing when to start reversing. Damn that was fun though.
  7. ??? Because if you win money, you have money to pay the taxes.
  8. Just remember, if your on an American Game show, you want to win money, not a correvette. Wheel of fortune is actually okay (aside from being a terrible game), because if you win the car, you probably won enough money to pay the tax on it. Wheel of Fortune, not so much.

I like xkcd when I remember to look. Mostly I read Brawl in the Family which uses characters from Super Smash Bros Brawl.
  10. That sucks It gets better. Watch the price is right or wheel of fortune sometime, and realize that when someone wins a car, they suddenly owe half the value of that car in income taxes. I think most people end up selling the car, or anything else expensive that they win, to pay for the tax on it.
  11. Both my lucid dreams have been the random 'huh, I'm dreaming right now' that most people will experience at least a couple times in their lives. There are two main ways to trigger it that I am familiar with. The first is to train yourself to perform reality checks. This can be done using a watch, book, or mirror (I'm sure there are other ways too). Once you are trained to do this in the real world, the idea is that it becomes so natural, an unconscious reflex, that you will do this in a dream, and when you do you will know if your dreaming or not. The second involves waking up during a dream cycle (REM sleep), and then doing something like imagining walking up an infinite spiral staircase as you go back to sleep (or something like this, the staircase is borrowed from a third method), the idea here being that you can keep your conscious mind active as it transitions back into REM sleep mode. A variation on the second is to turn the TV on and set the volume to the lowest audible setting, and walk up the infinite staircase. Supposedly, you will eventually walk off of it and into your dream. You will also be able to hear the TV, because this method causes your auditory sense to remain actively connected to your mind (sometimes this happens on accident. Some people have probably had an instance where rather than have their alarm wake them up, the sound becomes a part of the dream). Just google how to lucid dream. After a bit of reading, you'll be familiar with all the methods.
  12. I have a (large) mini fridge in my room, that stores among other things, drinks. Most of what I drink is water though, and I can take that at room temperature without issue. I need to start filling both water jugs though, since one is not quite enough to get me though a whole day (nearly 3 litres each). If I had too, I would probably drink more too, which would be a good thing. Not having a tap in my room/on my floor is a bit annoying though. Speaking of which, I need to defrost the mini fridge and clean it, which means making it empty for a couple days.
  13. Not everyone. I have only run into people who abuse their position on the most exceptionally rare occasions (in person). The only people in a position of power who routinely bother me are politicians. I've never met a cop I didn't like, including the two who got me a court date (because even though I didn't deserve it, it wasn't their place to determine that, that's what the courts are for, and that's what the courts did). Also, because I can see this is going to come up again, this thread is not to be used to comment on other posters posts annoying you, or other posters annoying you. If other peoples posts are bothering you, then ignore them. This also includes a veto on passive aggressive remarks about other posts/posters.
  14. Last night I had what I think is my second lucid dream. They still aren't happening often, but two in the space of like 4 months is still beating the norm I think (by a lot), and with any luck, the more they happen by chance like this, the easier it will become, and the earlier in a dream I will catch on. I still don't know how it happened, it was like the last one though, I just look around and suddenly I know what's going on. I also don't know if its a timing thing (that I realize I am dreaming late in the dream) or what, but like the last time, it was also short. This time I knew it would be short though (because I remembered if not the last dream, the imperative that if I ever went lucid again, to do what I want to do fast). This is also second dream where I have had the full power of flight in memory, though in workings it more resembles a dream where I tried to fly and failed (the other one where I could fly was more me watching me fly, and had none of the feeling of flight). Essentially I could jump, and once airborn I could steer and keep flying around. I wasn't able to hover though, until I became aware of the dream, at which point I was able to make it so that was possible. The other weird thing is I was always under the impression that once you know your dreaming, you could change anything at will with a thought, but this doesn't match my experiences. I guess the best way to describe it would be that the dream world, and particularly the people in it become more compliant. I have much control over what will happen, but changes to past and present are outside my control. In my first one, I was able to transition between settings at will (in the second one I just flew, and made every attempt to try and increase the speed at which I was flying with some success). However, I suspect that if I were to try and say, remove a tree from the scenery, it wouldn't happen. I also don't think I can create the scenes, my conscious mind lacks that creative capacity, and I must instead rely on my unconscious to manufacture them from a mix of memory and fantasy. People are very easy to work with though, in that they do exactly what I want and behave how I want them to. I would have liked this dream to last longer, but at least I did most of what I wanted to without wasting my lucid time, so I am much happier with this one. I could also go for more dreams with me flying, even if they are just dreams. That was a lot of fun, and now that my brain has figured out how to do it, it should happen again. I have had a few dreams where they have tried to do something new, and whatever is supposed to happen either just wont (or wont happen correctly, like the first time I was supposed to be able to fly at will), or the dream will all out just end because it can't progress.

Had a Lucid dream last night. Before that, last night I went to see Lady Windermere's Fan (play by Oscar Wilde), and I quite enjoyed that. Today I get to relax.

My backup disks should be able to install it from scratch, but it wasn't an option (or maybe that's just a label). I also suspect that there would be a shit storm if I installed that version of 7 twice, because it would look exactly like piracy. I think I'll install the 64 bit xp tomorrow and see if its stable. It's also smaller, so if I ever need to go through this again, it will be that much faster to remake the drive. The real problem will be compatibility. While it should handle web browsing fine, there is a particular program I am anxious to try. I suspect xp will be able to run it though.
  17. I'm Canadian, where lottory is considered to be like game show winnings (which are also taxed in the states). Sweet 640 million tax free  Least I think we're still rolling that way. Once its invested into say an RRSP, I'd have to pay tax on it as it comes out. Not up to snuff on that section of our tax code though.

  19. Easy. I'd take a couple million off the top for instant gratification, and then invest the rest of it and live on the interest. A modest 1% interest on 640 million is 6.4 million a year, with no effort at all. More than enough to live well, and freeing me and my children (if I have one or two) from the need to ever get a job. Hell, if you keep the birthrate in the family to one per generation, that money would make your life easy street for a very long time, especailly if your wise enough to reinvest a portion of it to keep up with inflation. And I'd probably still get a job, because I want to contribute to the world, even if I don't have to. And I've actually met people in this situation before. A while ago the family came into a large sum of money (like just stupidly large), and they can't spend the interest on it fast enough. I expect their income was in the high tens of millions annually, off the interest on their savings.
  20. I prefer onions to be soft, and combined with something else (ie onion rings). While we're doing our food phase, I detest the texture of mushrooms. I can handle them in little tiny chunks, but there is something about their texture and consistency that...seems off. Not sure if I like the taste, since I have never had a piece on its own to find out.

I downloaded and installed virtual box today and it's working great for me so far. Everything seems to be working at a normal speed despite me having to divide my RAM up. I'm going to un-dual boot my current setup and just run windows with a Ubuntu virtual box from now on. So much more convenient. So I like the part where windows Vista and 7 aren't options. I'm not sure if I should try to install my OS anyway using its backup disks, or if I should use the copy of Windows XP 64 that I just happen to have available.
  22. This. I especially like deserted twisty back roads, bonus points if I have the mini (the SUV is actually pretty fun too though).
  23. Even though this is a questionare, since its not about RuneScape, we actually lump these in with off topic. And welcome to the forums. I don't have time to fill this out right now, but I'll be happy to take a look later on tonight or sometime tomorrow.
  24. Because the more you reveal about what your thinking/how your feeling, the more your putting yourself out there, and the more you fear your going to mess things up/scare them off. The more your together, the more comftorable you become revealing things about yourself, and the less games you end up playing.

Yes it does. I had it checked to make sure it wasn't going to shit a brick the second it fired up. I might just go for virtual box tomorrow, because Ubuntu is driving me insane. Yes, having a linux system is theoretically ideal for what I want to use this for, being apparently resistant to viruses to the point people don't bother putting scanners on it, but that doesn't do me any good if I can't actually use it. I really would like to have windows anyway because I know its going to be able to run everything I want it to. I did forget about going into BIOS to activate that feature though. Would explain why Ubuntu is running slowly.
