Shields were put on the portals because before that the games would end so fast low lvls couldnt get enough zeal. I myself suffered from this back then and I was lvl 70 when it came out. If you increased the zeal requirement, you are back to square one. So no.

You sound like me (just you cant sleep.) Since I also want to design video games I choose to spend a lot of time on the computer/playing games. I have had no problems. I grew up with a computer in my house and got my very first computer for my 7th birthday. Try telling your parents what you do want to do and explained the relevance of technology on that field. (that worked with my dad.) or plan b: Get them hooked on video games so you have something to hold against them if they take away your games \ . (that worked on my mom.) There's a famous quote for this situation: "whatever goes up must come down."
