World cup 2010!
It took 45 minutes but Brazil finally began to play like they cared. They were pathetic in the first half and were just outworked by USA who deserved to go ahead. The natural order of football was restored in the second half though.

Micheal Jackson dies of heart attack
I've had Vitiligo (a little patch on my stomach and leg), the problem is that Vitiligo doesn't tend to occur evenly and gradually over your whole skin - it tends to happen in small blotches. With Jackson being black, the patches would have been particularly easy to spot, even if covered by make up, as the blotches started. Example (not me): [hide=][/hide] edit - fixed

Micheal Jackson dies of heart attack
Bob Dylan and Paul McCartney are both still releasing albums (not together of course). Edit - Plus 2pac has an album out almost every year and he's dead :P .

PETA kills more animals than it saves.
That's truely one of my pet hates as well, it always comes after some copy pasta too. The whole idea of a message board implicitly suggests discussion.

I'm going to go insane soon... (Juicy :p)
Okay I don't mind a few people joking around but if you do post any pictures here i'll remove them. By ranting here you're effectively asking to be judged, and 5 weeks really isn't a long time to get to know someone. ...especially when you're not trying and have your mind made up already. So it's kind of clear that he's just a jealous little kid who doesn't like the idea of another mother figure? Yeah, I mean I sympathise with him to an extent because I'm sure it's difficult to adapt to the situation once your arets have split up, moved on and met other people. To say it is anything major other than the usual jealousy in that situation is unfair to his father's girlfriend is unfair to her though because as far as I can see she hasn't done that much wrong (definately not enough to deserve being demonised anyway).

Well..It's official, North Korea has gone mad
And i for one, could not care less. You know you're an [wagon] when... Calling for the act which would murder North Korean civilians equally makes you an [wagon]. I dred to think how the Cold War would have ended with hysterical people like you in power.

She's not showing you a lack of respect, she's finding it damn hard to assimilate into her new life and you're not making it any easier. No matter how she copes with it, by being annoying at times or whatever, it fundamentally cannot have been easy for her moving over here and trying to start a new life with an already established family. What would she have to do to make you like her? Because if it's do everything you want her to do then that's unreasonable. If you have issues with some of her actions then talk to her, calmly and respectfully like a man. If you start some petty [bleep] for tat thing when she does something you don't like then this clearly won't work. It doesn't take a genius to see that this is hard for you, and some issues like you've described are perfectly understandable. But try to see it from her point of view, and if she's being petty then rise above it. The way you're portraying yourself here is as some spoilt brat around the house who wants to have a [bleep] to try and get some sympathy. That's no way for a man to behave. She's not a woman that was raised by millionaire parents and now is marrying an impoverished man because of here love, she married the op's dad to up her financial standing. From what it looks like she is not planning an getting a job and is leaching of the family while op is being ignored. Well done for being spoon-fed your opinion by the OP's one-sided and childish rants and not really analysing what is happening. It seems simple to me: parents divorce and move on and the child doesn't like it. There is no more explanation needed; all of this "she doesn't respect me" crap is just born out of the fact that she isn't his mother and he resents her for that. If you go out of your way to not get to know or not to like somebody, why should they bother trying?

Millions of Iranians erupt into riot- UPDATE: Its spreading
Then they'll just crack down further and denounce the protesters as agents of the west. Obama taking a harder line would just let the Iranians say "we told you so" to their own people. Obama is right to say little and be careful in what he does say because he doesn't want to untie the hands of the Iranian government.

Millions of Iranians erupt into riot- UPDATE: Its spreading
It looks like Iran is going full throttle with the outside instigation route, they've ordered the BBC's permanent correspondent to leave the country and are threatening more serious action if "interference" continues. The government has also arrested some of Rafsanjani's family "for their own safety". To me that looks like a way of neutralising the threat that Rafsanjani could pose the regime (hypothetically he is the only person in Iran who can depose Khamenei as he is the chair of the Assembly of Experts). Looks like Khamenei is getting a wary of a power struggle from within. Also Khatami is urging for the release of all arrested opposition protesters but that is to be expected.

I've actually heard Muhammad Ali sing Stand By ME quite well, it was on a documentary I watched about him.

Millions of Iranians erupt into riot- UPDATE: Its spreading
Ahmadinejad has won because there is no way the result will be over-turned. Mousavi isn't particularly pro-western either, his policy is just no improve relations and not to antoganise the west further (unlike Ahmadinejad who goes out of his way to provoke). It's weird because Mousavi is part of the old guard (he was Prime Minister during the 80's) and he's become the leader of this mass movement by accident. He wasn't running on an anti-Khamenei ticket (he wouldn't have been allowed to) and he hasn't even openly opposed the structure of the government but all of these protesters who want those kind of changes have made Mousavi their figurehead for this. The idea behind the Iranian government claiming that the US and UK are behind the protests is to give them an excuse to crack heads, we're just the scapegoat in their game. That is why Obama was smart by saying little on the issue because he knew he would be giving them the opportunity to take that way out - Gordon Brown wasn't as shrewd unfortunately.

Millions of Iranians erupt into riot- UPDATE: Its spreading
It seems that the Iranian government has really began to crack down on the protesters today. They stopped them joining together into a large group by using tear gas and using the riot squad to break the groups up. Worryingly, Mousavi has said he is ready for martyrdom for the cause, so it looks like things aren't going well behind the scenes http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/worldnews/middleeast/iran/5588198/Mir-Hossein-Mousavi-ready-for-martyrdom-as-Iranians-defy-Supreme-Leader.html

Laws - So Stupid You Gotta Punch Authorities In The Face.
What's insane about that, exactly? It's called littering. Unless it was an accident and some fine-happy cop sprang one on them as soon as the money fell from their pocket... Of course it was accidental, who would drop money deliberately like that? Edit - Are you guys referring to this: http://www.thescottishsun.co.uk/scotsol ... -note.html or was this another case in the US recently? [/hide] Stranger things have happened, but of course I would expect something like that to be accidental. I was hoping for background on the story more than anything else. If this is the case he was referring to, then he left out some details, namely the other side of the story: Yeah I'm not sure if that one was the one being referred to either but that one was in the news here recently so it came to mind. I think with things like this though common sense has to used, I hate jobsworth types who rigidly stick to the letter of the law regardless of the situation. Traffic wardens are the worst for it.

Homosexuality: Right or Wrong?
Surely if you're broke you have no money, that would make it an oxymoron.

Best Song Covers EVER!
I actually much prefer the . The little pistol action he does on the "robbing people with a six gun" line gets me every time. I like the Bobby Fuller version as well (I have both) but I prefer The Clash version. There's just something about the guitar on their version the I love.

Homosexuality: Right or Wrong?
Too bad most of it has to do with making America more broke. You have to love the oxymorons.

Tip.It's 100 Movies (VOTING IS STARTING!!!)
Tarnantino's official line is "it's whatever the audience wants it to be". Which is code for it doesn't matter, it's there as a plot device to drive the storyline. Just like the microfilm in North By Northwest or the numerous other Hitchcock MacGuffins. Also, Toy Story was a pioneering film, whether people like it or not - it was the first 100% computer animated feature film. Now, I would argue that that hasn't overall benefited film but it was pioneering. Sure, the storyline isn't the work of Shakespeare as you suggest but it's an important landmark just like The Jazz Singer (which isn't particularly deep either) was when it pioneered the use of sound in film.

Tip.It's 100 Movies (VOTING IS STARTING!!!)
We've bumped into the problem with these kind of lists already, what is popular and what is considered great by the majority isn't necessarily the pinnacle of achievement in the medium. It just comes from people not having a wider experience of film - if you've only got a narrow experience of film then it isn't surprising that you might feel that The Dark Knight is the single greatest film ever made. Now I'm not saying by any means that having seen more films makes you better qualified to make these judgements, far from it, I know in myself that my opinions and tastes are constantly changing as I see more films - I look at films I loved 7 or 8 years ago and wonder why I liked them and I look at ones I hated in the past and enjoy them. Likewise in years to come I'll re-[wagon] films I've seen this year and change my opinion. My overall point is that there is always going to be a clash over tastes in doing these lists because we have a mixed bag of posters on this forum. Toy Story is just as deep as Pulp Fiction? :? That's no way to convince someone to stop favoring serious movies. First of all, the scenes are not played in chronological order but this very aspect actually augments the viewing experience. If they were played in sequential order, it wouldn't be nearly the same. Secondly, the bathroom scenes are utterly brilliant. Vincent goes to bathroom (a normal domestic routine) and then leaves, entering a [bleep] up reality (overdose, robbery, then finally death). Thirdly, the undefinable contents of the 666 briefcase being linked to the scarred neck at the beginning of the movie and also the Bible reference is one of the best uses of symbolism I've ever seen in a film. Finally, most of the characters all have their unique storylines but they're interrelated into the main plot. There isn't a concrete protagonist like in any other regular movie. One second you'll be empathizing for Vincent, then next thing you know you'll be empathizing for his killer. Toy Story: Talking toys that make you laugh and teaches you the moral of not letting jealousy get to your head. You can't tell me every movie is as deep and meaningful as every other one. Or perhaps I'm missing some hidden underlying message that's present in Toy Story? There is no real deep underlying message in Pulp Fiction either though, that is the point. The breifcase is a classic MacGuffin (as Tarantino has indirectly suggested). Having an ensemble film with several inter-related storylines isn't entirely unique and neither is the non-chronological editing style. Tarantino even concedes that he has taken a number of archetypal stories and just presented them to a mainstream audience in a way which they hadn't seen. Don't get me wrong, it's a fun film and I enjoy it but it isn't the great film achievement of our time - it's a fun film but not an as great as many people think. All this mythologising of Pulp Fiction is giving the film more credit than it is due. Ps - the scarred neck is just to hide Ving Rhames' scar, no hidden meaning, no deliberate message.
