YOUR List of Top-10, Must-See Movies.
Mishima: A Life in Four Chapters Rashômon Vertigo Taxi Driver The Treasure of the Sierra Madre The Searchers A Matter of Life and Death The Wild Bunch Bob le flambeur (Bob the high roller) Once Upon a Time in the West (C'era una volta il West That's not necessarily my top 10 films (in fact I don't have a top 10) although I love each of them but I chose them either because I deemed them 'important' films or I thought they were revolutionary in how they told their stories. edit - I just realised this was for 10 films not 5 lol, edited accordingly.

Is the US at war with Russia?
Hypothetically speaking, what do you think USA would be doing while Russia is spending vital time 'overwhelming' the shield? I'd think bombs would be knocking out Russia's missile sites. Even if it only takes an hour or two or so to overwhelm the shield as you put it, it's still more than enough time to get an advantage.

Olympics 2008
No, it just means he's better than you as a runner.

Is the US at war with Russia?
How does it not affect Russia's security? If USA can attack Russia and Russia can't hit back then it bloody well does affect them. If it was only being made to prevent an Iranian attack it wouldn't be conveniently placed in Poland.

Olympics 2008
Phelps didn't win by the massive margin Bolt won by, he wouldn't have had time to celebrate. If any of the other runners were insulted by it they hid it well during the post-race interviews and all the interviews they've done since then, from what I've seen they've all had nothing but praise for Usain Bolt. Quite frankly, even if they had been insulted by his celebration, they should respond by being better runners and giving his nothing to celebrate. Let's face it, the race was as well as over when he began celebrating, the guy had just achieved his dream and in dramatic fashion. For that I can forgive him for being a bit boastful. Edit - Also, he's helped improve the image of track & field by winning so spectacularly and by such margin without resorting to performance enhancing drugs. His performance and his personality is really helping to rehabilitate the image of the track & field events.

Flag Burning.
Nobody tends to burn Scottish flags so I have no idea whether it would offend me or not. You have wonder though, who sells all the American flags that get burnt in the middle east? Is there some sort of "flags-r-us" that sells the flags to cater for every situation? It's amazing how quickly people can get hold of any nation's flag when they're upset at that nation.

Olympics 2008
The more likely scenario is that you know next to nothing about how to judge a gymnastics performance and they scored it fairly. Also please don't use racist terms such as "[racist term]ese."

Olympics 2008
Usain Bolt is just a freak. I don't understand how somebody can run that fast and find it so easy that he can slow down for last 20m and still smash the world record. It must be so demoralising for his competition knowing that they have absolutely zero chance of beating Bolt when he's on form. It'll be interesting to see if he beats Johnson's 200m record. Did anyone else see Phelps just win this morning (it was 3am here)? I really thought he had blown it but he somehow just sneaked the win. One more event to go for him.

2012 Olympics Ceremony - let's not throw away over $300mil?
* Governments/charities tend to know which areas need the cash and which don't and they know which nations will steal and which won't. * People with aids don't matter? How about working to prevent the spread of aids, helping the children orphaned by the disease, helping fund AIDS education programs. * I think he was talking about the UK government giving the money, he may have quoted the figured in Dollars but his location states that he's British (or at least lives there) hence, we means British people.

2012 Olympics Ceremony - let's not throw away over $300mil?
What I really dislike about the 2012 Olympic organisers, is how they try to justify the spiraling cost of the games by claiming they will bring economic development to the whole country. Like any tourist is going to come to the Olympics in London and spend their cash in Slough (or anywhere else outside London), same goes for the Commonwealth games. I don't mind them hosting sporting events in principle as long as the costs are kept down and they don't try to patronise us with this national economic benefit rubbish. On the subject of using the money to help impoverished nations, I think it would be better to remove or at least dramatically reduce the amount of debt that third world nations owe (getting rid of tied aid would be particularly useful) rather than just throwing a random sum at the problem. Unfortunately this won't happen as having nations indebted to you gives you a great amount of power over them. Let's face it, £300M for an opening ceremony is ridiculous, it would be better spent on helping others less fortunate but every nation wants to put on a bigger and better show than everyone else.

That reminds me of the thing Einstein wrote in a letter to Harry Truman;

Soccer is boring
Just to end the argument, how can football be boring when a player can do this. Goals like that are worth all the 0-0 draws and all the negative defensive play. Those are the special moments that make this sport brilliant. You have to love the Argentinian commentators...genio, genio, genio lol

Is the US at war with Russia?
Obama Bin Laden isn't an isolated incident though is it? We've had 'terror fist bump' and his wife being called his 'baby-momma' and there's still plenty of time for more dirty tactics in the same vein. However, that's an argument for another thread. As for this thread, there is no war between Russia & USA at the moment. Is it just me or is it between this thread and the Iran blockade thread, has tip.it become the brain trust of US foreign policy?

Olympics 2008
^^ It's even easier when the IOC say they won't investigate it. They say it's the responsibility of the individual olympic committees. I was skeptical about them being underage until I watched them win gold today and until I read my last statement. There is no way a lot of them are 16.

Olympics 2008
I watched the mens swimming relay. I like to see people break records so I've been rooting for Phelps to win his 8 golds, I thought he had no chance when USA was losing by quite a bit with just won length to go. I think he owes his teammate (forgot the guy's name) a drink for making up so much time to help get that gold. Two down six to go....hopefully. Other than that I haven't kept up with the Olympics, maybe I'll get into it more when the more interesting events (to me) get to the more important stages. I'm really looking forward to seeing Bolt in the 100m.

RIP Isaac Hayes, dead at 65
Such a shame, I was just watching a documentary the other week that featured Isaac Hayes (it was about Stax records generally). Everybody is dying this week. ---------- I hate to break it to you but even if Samuel L Jackson lives for another 50 years there probably won't be a sequel. He went on record and said he was upset that so many people online waned to contribute to the film but then in his opinion those same people didn't go to see it.

PS3 or XBOX360?
For every fanboy argument on tip.it, a little child cries......seriously though, this topic has become quite pathetic with all this childish bickering
