It costs 75 Steel arrows to upgrade the attractor to a accumulator. You need to pay 999 GP if you loose it, I think you swapped those two numbers :P. The accumulator will make steel arrows whereas the attractor only gives iron and steel arrowheads. (All other stuff is the same) The accumulator gives 2 more range attack and mage defence bonus.

I think around 600k in runes, I guess it takes a couple of days to get all the required points. Check out manoman's MTA Handbook for more info.

Having someone to suicide really helps. If you've been hybriding before maging shouldn't be too hard. You'll probably know that Rex moves diagonally now, so it's a bit harder to lure him, you'll need to stand out of the safespot and get Rex to the North East first and to the safespot after. Fastforce made a vid about this, I think it's a good help: http://files.filefront.com/FastForce+luringDKswmv/;7890679;;/fileinfo.html I'd use Veracs, it gives a great prayer bonus and you'll keep your valuable stuff if you die in it(Taking a granite shield instead of crystal). 1-1.5k casts should be enough I think. GOF's guide covers the rest, only the luring has really changed.
