  1. Then ban black-visored motorbike helmets. If a biker commits a hit-and-run offence and I can't see his face, isn't this the same issue of accountability? Or does it not fall into the special terrorism clause that popped up after 9/11? I'm sorry, I just don't follow this at all. We criticise Islamic nations for forcing women to wear a full-faced veil, and then we perform a complete intellectual backflip by not allowing them to wear it at all here even when they want to. Which country in this situation is really on the high ground here? I'd argue they're both persecuting free will. The use of your analogy is once again sub-par. Black visored motorbike helmets serve a different purpose - It's to prevent head/eye injury to motorbikers. There are other ways to identify a biker in a hit and run case - Eg the number plate that's obviously on the bike itself. The right of free will shouldn't triumph other people's rights without a good reason. Could you address the other issues in the quote that you decided to cherry pick, please? You're welcome to find some far-flung Internet source to counter this (plenty exist when it comes to Islam), but from the Muslims I've spoken to in life, full-faced veils are to respect a woman's right to privacy. Where's the harm in that? "Right to privacy" doesn't exactly scream "She wants to blow this [cabbage] up".

  3. Again, there's always been a rule about not promoting in-game offences on the forums for as long as I can remember. In years gone by, this was to stop people from advertising botting websites. I can't see any correlation between that rule being created years and years ago, and Tip.It's only recent status as a recognised fansite.
  4. In the UK, of the 91,500 people stopped and searched in 2009-10, only two were actually arrested. If I brought in a tax that only targeted 0.002% of the individuals tax officers thought it might cover, I'd be laughed out of office, yet apparently if you translate this pathetic success rate to terrorism, it's necessary for our safety because there's a tiny possiblity that a terrorist might just one day perhaps be picked up. Our past record on terrorism doesn't give me much faith that full-faced veil bans are even useful, let alone necessary. The 'oppresed' thing is a retrospect argument that has no direct relevence to terrorism. All this is without even resorting to principles of religious freedom and tolerance in a democratic society.
  5. I'm not sure there's any proof that Jagex has influenced Tip.It's policy on rules. At best, I think you're playing guilt by association there. Tip.It had rules against spamming long ago, even while Jagex refused to acknowledge fansites, let alone support them. And to the best of my knowledge 'Don't be rude' is just a basic social rule wherever you are, except perhaps in a UFC cage. It doesn't matter whether you're being rude in the process of offering someone else advice as an expert on whatever matter they've asked about, or being rude anywhere else.
  6. Furthermore, there will be times in life where other people make your life a tragic misery. Usually when you're younger and you don't have the experience to land yourself positions in senior management, but even when you do get to the top there will be people out to pick on your flaws. Does retaliating against a bully on a school playground really set a good precedent for later life? Say your boss is expecting too much of you because the company's got no money to recruit new staff and you're having to cover. Punching his lights out would clearly put you in the better position there, obviously. I was bullied at school too--username probably gives that much away to be honest--but I'd like to think I'm a better person than them for not resorting to the same belief that personal problems are solved by violence and intimidating others into submission.
  7.     Thing is, you don't even need to ask people to leave over there. Just get 20 or so people to say they don't like that person, the admins get to kick 'em out. Handy right? It's a foolproof system designed to stop people getting banned for no reason.
  8. How does the amount of time required make any difference? Tip.It is engaging in so-called information theft either way, that's the central issue. In your opinion, it's not OK for me to ask for my content to be removed, but it is OK for bladewing to have his content removed, even though we'd both be claiming that Tip.It were engaging in information theft and we'd both have the same rights. I know I'm not the only one here noticing your selective application of ethics, and your retrospect justification of this as anything other than a spiteful parting shot that actually has nothing to do whatsoever with supposed 'information theft'. OK, let's try another question. When I left the Crew it wasn't on good terms with the admins, believe me. You don't need to know why, but I know people who can testify to that. However, if I (and others) have managed to leave the reconciliation table without making petulant requests for content that serves ordinary users to be removed, why can't bladewing?
  9. Yeah I usually go with the Dows on since there's no other application to put in the bottom screen so it's weird I've not seen it so far. Off to the bridges then. Only five of 'em. ;-)
  10. Cheers, I'll look into that. My best bet would be some kind of Dowsing Machine guide.
  11. Is it actually possible to get a Smoke Ball in B/W? Bulbapedia says Koffing and Weezing can be found in Castelia City but Serebii says Koffing can only be PokeTransfer'd and so does Marriland.
  12. Err... Flame orb for the guts? -Shrugs- That really is a crap selection.
  13. Well, the reality is I and every other ex-Crewbie could PM Cowman right now asking for our content to be removed not only from the main site, but that which is ours from the AoW as well, and we would have exactly the same legal rights as bladewing, ie none. I'm not going to request that because I'm proud of the contribution I've made to the Tip.It community through my work as a Crewbie. You guys did request it however. We're just asking how you think this is beneficial to the community that you're claiming you're not trying to hurt, or the current unpaid staff members that are having to deal with this against the backdrop of their own personal lives and stresses.
  14. She didn't ask for clarification of what is real, or advice on how to argue. She asked if you would be okay with it, which you appear not to have answered.
  15. They could do an Arena mode-type thing where you face all of them with one inventory. I can tell you from personal experience that Boss Battles Intense on SSBB is one of the hardest things I have ever achieved in gaming (and after weeks and weeks of trying, I eventually did it on my birthday of all days). What I'm thinking is something like that. Make it random sequence so it's not so linear and people can't make guides which all but guarantee success--make it a challenge of quick thinking, fine teamwork (if it's not solo) and good strategy. Making the boss proportional to team members/combat levels a la Dung is a great idea too.
  16. Really? I must have missed it, anybody have a link? Look at pages 2 and 3 of this thread at tripsis and das. Also cowman posted i think on page 4. Also ongoing in the Forum Suggestions board. There's a few apologies there I think, I can't remember specifics.
  17. Who had been trolling beyond reason and were posting porn and other obscure content on a site where minors view the pages too.. If behaving like that doesn't warrent a ban, what does? To be honest, it should never have gotten so far in the first place. I agree with the below. Yeah because every one of them were frequent trolls and porn posters  You seem to like putting everyone in the same basket. You don;t even seem to know what you;re talking from, not even from the very beginning. You are a joke, just like the rest of the mods/crew (with the exeption of one or two). My 15 year old cousin ran his art based forum better than you run these and hes a [bleep]ing 15 year old. For christ sake pull the carrot out of your ass, stop being so butthurt and start accepting the views of others. Maybe then your forums will stop turning the the dog [cabbage] i scraped off my shoe this morning. Oh and jaffy, i would really love to get personal with you. You have no idea. You seem to be the biggest troll of them all but here, having a coloured name means you get to do just what you want. You just call it "advice" or "constructive critisism" and its all good. You're making yourself look like a realy idiot, just so you know. If it's so bad, why are you here? I know there's a case for criticism but then there's also like 'Where are you coming from with this?', you know? Your post just came off as somebody looking for someone else to pin all their frustrations on, just saying. And actually, having seen Jaffy on the OT board she's not a troll in my opinion. She can lecture people, she's quite opinionated, but not a troll. This isn't a crime and it has nothing to do with her crewship so why you brought that up I don't know.
  18. Speaking only for myself, I'm not sure I agree with this reasoning. If someone cannot update something, then someone else makes a derivative of it - someone that is active and can actually keep it up-to-date - and that essentially becomes the new guide. It happens all the time (surprisingly enough) with guides on other forums, more so with programs and programming projects. Just because someone can't update it doesn't mean it should be removed. I just don't agree with that notion. *slinks back to corner* Except he didn't approve of his guide staying and didn't give permission for someone to make a copy of his work. As the tip.it guidelines explicitelly say, you DO give tip.it ownership to copy. I think it's time you do a little research in the matter and then come back. There are so many statements here which disgust me because they show an utter lack of knowlenge about how IP works. Also not giving permession to make copies, or increase the knowlenge of the guide is morally wrong. As it prefents innovation for the group in spite of personal gain. Everyone here knows that tip it has the legal rights to the guides. We aren't discussing that. We're talking about ethics. You claim not giving permission is wrong. Would you also claim current IP laws are unethical? Probably not considering your post. Why isn't it unethical? Why is it beneficial to the community as a whole to let the author distribute his work at his own discretion? I believe the reasoning behind the answer will also apply to this particular case. So it's beneficial to the community to have its content removed in the interests of protecting IP rights that, actually, the original poster hasn't really got. Gotcha. Tell you what, I worked on the Bestiary for over a year. Let's say hypothetically speaking, I want all my content removed from the website now. This process would take many, many Crew hours to fully resolve in such a way that I can't turn round later and say 'You missed a bit'. But hey, I have IP rights so what's wrong with me asking that? Wasting other volunteers' time to selfishly protect my distribution rights is beneficial to the wider community, yeah?
  19. Carracosta can also act as a water HM slave if you're desperate for one, but honestly just choose Archeops because two of the water HMs aren't needed or found until post-game. Acrobatics will tear through teams well enough to pass the game easily with good support. Just be careful with revives; I think its ability will still be in effect if your Max HP stat is odd.
  20. Precisely. Those throwing stones in glasshouses here should remember there are worse examples out there. I'm no legal expert but since Tip.It doesn't sell its content for profit, why doesn't Tip.It change its policy to mean that all submissions to the forum and the website are made irrevocably under the CC-BY-SA 3.0 license and that a URL to the original post is sufficient attribution under a CC license?
  21. I'm guessing you're still doing the main game but if not, Tropius can learn Strength, Fly, Cut and Flash and provides perfect HM coverage with Seal/Bibarel. Braviary and Rufflet provide Strength, Fly and Cut but not Flash if you need a replacement (on White only) for Tropius. No Pokemon on Black provides all three until post-game.
  22. Bit gimmicky but pretty ballsy nonetheless. From the ref's reaction it's the match-winning kick:
  23. I'm on the 'other side' I guess and I'm a Feeler but that really is purely anecdotal. I really don't want want this to become an issue of 'Well, some people are just too emotional (Feelers) while others are good and logical (Thinkers)' either. Besides, even you believe in it, the MBTI test itself claims it's more complex than simply being F or T, because the iNtuintion/ Sensing function is also used.
  24. Problem with this kind of thing is there's plenty I could be annoyed with them for but not enough for me to say 'No' because it wouldn't do justice to the things they've done right. I'm not expecting Andrew Lansley to look at this vote and find familiar company anyway.
  25. Even one's like these? Totally useless, completely ignorant and incredibly rude. Useless? No. Ignorant? Maybe. Rude? Ok you have me there. Yeah but sometimes, with certain people, you need to use some force before they can grasp an idea. So sometimes being rude IS the best option. It NEVER is in my opinion. That's like saying "some women just won't listen to me, so hitting them is the best option." It isn't. Be patient and if that fails ignore them. To all the educated forum users you will have made your point and that is what matters. It isn't so much that what he's saying is particularly wrong. It's just that it's blatently obvious the only reason he's made that post is to be purposefully rude or prove some kind of intellectual superiority, and I'm sorry, I don't care if he's writing a cure for cancer - there's no need for it on an Internet forum where posting is a privilege, not a God-given right. I realise Tripsis posted on that thread but really, does that cut it? I know it wouldn't on plenty of other forums. To be blunt, I'd gladly remove all the mathematical analysis if it meant removing posters who are only in the community to cause trouble. Actually, I don't think it's fair to view things like that because broadly speaking, the people who write those analyses aren't the ones being rude. It's other people jumping on the bandwagon and giving them a bad name as if they were speaking on their behalf.
