  1. Under that logic, you may as well go and tell someone who's diagnosed as paranoid their perceived threats are very much real. After all, to them, there's no evidence to disprove those threats are there. What's your point? Unless you're arguing God told him about gravity (which many scientists thought existed long before Newton came along, just like the Romans realised about germs long before Pasteur and Koch), it's no proof God exists, or that we should all believe in God.
  2. When The Rolling Stones play the half-time interval during the 2010 World Cup final, like they did in 2006 for the Super Bowl, I'll take it back. When we have an organised party for whoever makes it to the final, England or otherwise, I'll take it back. Do you even know how much money an average player in the NFL makes? There's that much worth in the franchise. The NFL is far better than international football. I'm a football fan too, not some chauvinistic American patriot.
  3. I could barely believe it myself when Dad told me from his work. I didn't watch the match because I was adamant it would be an Aussie walk-over, and it started at like 7am our time. I hope the World Cup stays in Oz though. Bring it to England and you'd be playing in the JJB Stadium. I love Wigan (except the Latics) but... it doesn't compare to Brisbane: [hide=] [/hide]
  4. It's obviously terrible for those individual families concerned, and I hope there's adequate cover for them without a source of income, but it's not actually that bad. I know that sounds stupid, but it's not. In the 1980s/early 1990s here it was like hundreds of jobs each and every day, and the economic crisis then was far more placid than this one.
  5. More people watch the Superbowl every year than the World Cup final every four. Hell, they even have massive official NFL parties all around the world for the game. The only way you could generate that level of interest for football is if England somehow made it to the final.
  6. I'm well aware of that. That's why I vote. I'm not going to delude myself into thinking I'm an economic expert. Did he? I've no tolerance for people who dismiss other people's opinions as stupid simply for not agreeing with them. No one's suggesting the world would be a perfect place with socialism dominating every place on Earth. Indeed, that would be worse than capitalism being all over the world. A healthy world economy needs to opposing economic models. I don't really mind about arguing emotionally with economics. Yes, capitalism produces more financially but I personally don't find that very attractive when others suffer unnecessarily as a result. And if the money I don't need goes to helping people who do need that money, and raising the standards of everyone, then that's money well spent so far as I'm concerned. I'm not one of the believers who think "greed" is synonymous with "humans". And I'm not doubting that. There can be are already examples of high taxation and personal property though. It's a balance of how much people should be expected to provide to society at large, and how much they should be allowed to keep for themselves. From an ethical point of view, I don't find it acceptable that some people earn millions for working the same intensity and amount of labour as someone who earns only thousands a year. I was more annoyed about the aura he was trying to give off. "I'm better than others because I give to charity while they just want to force tax on all of us". It's ultimately based around the whole "liberal" stereotype, and if I was to sit here and imply that "all Christians are ego-centric lunatics who believe they're better than everyone else for their beliefs", I'd be rightly told to shut up for being arrogant and pompous. No, I don't think he did. He just left as an umbrella term. He was complaining about Euro-socialist attitudes inside America, when in actual fact, Europe feels the effect of American capitalism far more than the reverse. If he wants to whine about that situation, so will I. As for Cuba, let's be honest, Michael Moore isn't the only person who believes Cuba has a better healthcare system. Indeed, it's a pointless argument. The point is, if communism is such an economically disastrous model, and Cuba is so far behind the rest of the developed world, and it has an embargo placed on it, it shouldn't be anywhere near the richest nation on Earth in an rea as money-dependant as healthcare. I'm not saying Communism is the best system. No economic system is better than the rest, it depends on the nation and its population's needs and desires. But it does question some presumed beliefs about both socialism and communism's impacts.
  7. And you would be correct.
  8. Talk about self love for your own country. Equally, why do so many Americans go to Cuba for their medical schools? Neither would I. What's this got to do with the price of fish? A) They're still not working. B) Equally, someone from a poorer background may also have a brilliant idea, but is unable to follow the same path because they can't get funds. Where is the difference between that person and the CEO, less one is a victim of circumstance? C) Comparing entrepreneurialism to a military battle is just... no. No idea. I don't live in America. I know what's being done with my money though. It's going to pay for everyone's healthcare so we don't have to worry about whether or not insurance will pay out or whether we'll even be treated because of costs. It's going to lift people out of poverty and raise the average quality of life, so the poverty line is constantly rising. It's going on schools for children's education, libraries for the adults, and the creation of jobs so both can work when they get their qualifications. It's called the "common good". I thought it was something America was big on, nationalist spirit and all that. I'd rather it go to a body who can spend my money effectively with the guidance of experts with decades of experience behind them, and the weight of huge amounts of money behind them to fund massive projects. That would be the government, not my local Church fund. Don't reverse that on me. You're the one who quite clearly made a low shot at someone's intelligence. What has giving to charity got to do with someone's ability to afford security? In fact, having looked at your opinions, I think here is a place that would suit you perfectly. Plenty of Atheism-bashing, tax-loathing, lefty-hating conservative Americans there. ;)
  9. We're wannabe non-conformists for voicing a shared standard? The irony is hilarious.
  10. Wow, 'coz you're so [bleep]ing intelligent you can't even spell Shilo. Welcome to TIF, Einstein! If Obama is the most left-leaning senator in America, how comes Hillary supports national healthcare and he doesn't? Obama is far from a quasi-socialist. So far away, it's not funny. Can you explain to me how a CEO who saw a gap in the market, built a business to the point he longer has to work for it, but owns it nonetheless for the money it produces, has worked for that money? All he's done is organised a clever way of making people earn money for him. Explain to me how the upper classes earn their wealth when they systematically inherit it from each other through the generations for doing next to nothing but living a luxurious lifestyle? In the meantime, there's a nurse working 12 hour shifts in a hospital for a crappy wage who needs national healthcare and benefits because (s)he's not earning enough. That's capitalism. Don't argue against socialism by saying it's an unfair distribution of wealth when capitalism is far from perfect itself and without doubt worse. If tax was high enough (yes, sorry, I dared mention the "t" word), there'd be no need for charities. Everyone would have the security they need. Trusting charities with your money instead of the government can only be due to an irrational fear of authority. A) Who exactly is this money going to? B) How have they not deserved it? How about America relinquishes its influence over world markets then? Believe me, I despise that as much as you despise communism. Cuba. It has a better healthcare rating than the US, even with a capitalist US and an international blockade organised by America. Are we done here? ...until 20 years time when a former Communist nation will challenge that. Should I link capitalism to your failures as much as you link it to your successes?
  11. Is that even a real inquiry? I just find it suspicious one result has been marked anomalous and yet others which are further away from the line of best fit aren't noted at all.
  12. Who said anything about releasing the information into the public eye? Not to mention some random person on the Internet would have to do some pretty selective searching to find that information, even if it was in public view anyway. I just don't see any use for this on TIF. Clans have their own websites which can be linked to from here, the Gallery has shops... I just don't see any real reason at all.
  13. Teenagers have a tendency to exaggerate certain traits about themselves in order to create the impression they're different. I suppose for some it's to feel as though they have a niche or purpose on a social circle. Adults do it too though, it's just that teenagers are maturing more rapidly. At the end of the day, you're both right.
  14. Err... I guess a tooth extraction don't count. It was still funky though. Seeing all that blood being sucked out your mouth... I hope people aren't eating while reading this topic! :
  15. Can you even get mice these days that don't have a middle click/scroll wheel? I thought they died with the Amiga.

lol, Slowpoke Ike vs ninja TL. If only I had a copy I would be online in minutes to fight that battle. ;)
  17. In case Obama needed reminding of how important his presidency will be for the next few decades, Global Trends just posted their memo.

Yep. All the best players pull out a bomb so they can effectively have three jumps. In melee, you could pull out a bomb, throw it up, and blow it up with your own up-b. Now, you have to have your bomb out far before you get hit, so not even pro's have bombs before they get hit. If they did, they would have 1 jump and 2 up-bs. For some of them, it's common practice to have a bomb pulled out anyway, so long as TL's not playing a close melee game (which he loses against most chars so that's a daft idea). I think a more obvious argument would be this: How many stages do you know which would even need a third jump, given TL's crazy height with Spin Attack? In any case, TL can do it. If I sound out-of-touch with this game now, it's because I've not played it in over a month. -.-
  19. Don't straight girls also have sleepovers for girls only? Doesn't mean they're organising some secret mass lesbian sex romp... PS: I notice "lesbian" is no longer censored. Nice work. ;)

  21. Annoyingly addictive. Bit hard on the fingers with the constant acceleration. I got 1.8 million.
  22. It's a nice speech. Let's not get carried away though. Substance is more than words. The reason he's popular with the rest of the world is because he accepts other countries' concerns about global warming. Global warming is one the major issues that has made the US so unpopular over the last decade, from its very nature as the world's biggest economic superpower, and its refusal to sign the Kyoto agreement, so it was always bound to strike a chord with Europe. Two things though: 1) Just because he listens to the rest of the world doesn't mean he agrees with us. Nuclear energy isn't liked here either, after Chernobyl. 2) He's only addressing half the problem in that speech. One major cause of global warming is this: population density. When you have over half of drivers (of which there are many) going around in high polluting cars, global warming won't be solved. There has to be a cultural change towards environmentalism as well, and in a country like America where consumer spending really matters, that's not likely. No mention of Australia, China or India in that speech either, except a "delegation". All countries must work together, those three included with the US. I definitely agree with the bit about jobs though. He's gonna need money for it, however. I wonder where that'll come from when governments are awkward about borrowing in the current economic climate...
  23. There's nothing special about blink-182 at all. If they get back together, I couldn't care less.
  24. Lots of people play games. It's hardly the hallmark of someone especially different from normal society. RuneScape has over one million players alone.

Jesus, Sonic's recovery is so bad even TL's Dair could finish it. >_>
