  1. Clearly you do not pay enough attention then. I'll quote why this is the case: Please explain to me where I have said that the rate of just over 600k was the average? This quote of what I said specifically shows that the average expected is to be lower. The point of what I posted wasn't to get the exact average, but to prove it was higher than you claimed. You posted that once the money spent on supplies was counted, that you would average less than 400k per hour. I showed that the drops (excluding Dragon Boots) pay for the supplies and even make extra. So it essentially comes down to any Dragon Boots revceived is 100% profit. You say your drop rate is about 160, and that is 230 kills per hour using melee. Guess how much that is per hour. 230/160*278,266 = 400,007.375. That is almostly exactly 400k profit per hour, and don't forget that you get more experience per hour here than at Aviansies. A combat familiar should always be used. If the only difference between us was the use of one and 20 kills, then it is definately worth using. 20 kills is worth 20/125*278,266 = 44,523. So unless the pouch costs more than that, it is worth using. Now this is one of the reasons it is hard to take you seriously, and it really annoys me as you have done it throughout this thread. I said the drop rate was around 1/125, you then argued that was wrong and that it is lower drop rate. I show the results of a test I performed, you infer it is inaccurate (by saying you can't extrapolate, even though I specifically stated it was lower). Then you now say the drop rate is 1/125, but it is said in a way as if you were right all along. If it was so generally accepted as you say, why was I wrong when I stated it originally? Look, drop rates aren't exactly pinpointed. When I say 130, I mean anything from the 120-140 range; with only a few dozen boot drops it's impossible to pinpoint exactly. Now, from MY experience, it is much less frequent then that, but others have stated that it is more common, so I'm assuming my 40 or so boots have just been unlucky. It is true that d boots could be as good as avansies, but they are dropping and are luck based; I've had 500 kill trip without a single drop, not even breaking even. Most importantly, for the (currently negligible and lessening) advantage over Avansies, you have to get 83 slayer, over 20% of the total XP required for 99 slayer, all gotten with very inefficient training.
  2. Closer to 30,000 then, 2,000 now. Obviously made up numbers, like everything else on here, but probably pretty close. Player to player interaction isn't more important then prices. Why should the GE only be used for small items? Let me put it like this: I'm in varrock bank, wanting to buy an ahrim's robetop for PKing. I can: #1, walk up to the GE and buy it for a little under market price in a few seconds #2, hop to world 2, wander around trying to find someone to sell, finally find someone, haggle about a price for a while, and finally get it in 10 minutes or so It's exactly the same for the seller. The GE is the best update since RS2, even better then the graphics update (which ranks as #2. Anyone who's ever had a 1920X1200 17" laptop screen and tried to play 640-480 low detail knows the pain of squinting at the screen to read the words "armadyl godsword".) I would personally rather spend the 10 minutes to buy it from player than use the G.E., but since everyone uses the G.E. for dumping every item they get; I'm pretty much forced to waste an hour of my time, or just buy it off the G.E. Bleh, opinions... That's not opinions. It boils down to this: Spend 5 seconds and hit 'buy' on the GE Spend 10 minutes world hopping, dealing with lag and annoying people who trade without offering what you want, trying to find the price you want (if you can even find a seller), and keeping from being scammed (pre-GE). It's the exact same thing for the seller. There isn't a single advantage to player-to-player trading.

  4. That explains a lot  A ranger 10+ levels above you would demolish you with 99 range. I would know; I've been 3 hit with a rune crossbow (non spec, no void) with 99 defence super setted, piety, full torags and DFS. And that's non spec. I can defeat anyone 120 or under, sometimes 130, with range. Even though I should be around level 100.
  5. You can't take 2 boot drops and extrapolate them to an hour. My actual drop rate is closer to 1/160; I've had frequent 400+ dry streaks. My kill rate with void range is 207 per hour, concentrating, and 230 with melee. I do not use a combat familiar. As kent said http://forum.tip.it/viewtopic.php?f=180&t=763395, the drop rate is generally accepted to be 125-130 per hour.
  6. Psst. THE SPIDERS ARE LEVEL 50. Points are a good thing; with the blacklist and cancellation you don't miss much, and they really help out the profit. Skipping them is a bad idea.
  7. It has less to do with the cleverness and more to do with that being where the limit is for the free version. It's also interesting that 'runescape' was the 5th most popular search term on Yahoo.
  8. D boots drop rate is closer to 1\140, as mentioned by Inushakant, making for less then 400k profit per hour with the cost of supplies. 200 kills per hour is reasonable, though. I don't know much about NPC trading, but I know that if any number of people start doing it it is ruined. Avansies is the best 'common denominator' moneymaker; I can't name many better off the top of my head besides green dragons (Requires a TON of experience, practice, and 100% attention to obtain good rates, although now there is so many people there that the profit has dropped) besides GWD, which requires a lot of skill and cannot be done at the drop of a hat nor at any times (I rarely have time to devote 2-3 hours of 100% attention for a GWD trip).
  9. As mentioned before, you can't just add up the stats for damage, and most importantly: Scimitar takes all, period, for FTP. For members it's D scimmy -> Sara Sword -> Whip, with godsword\veracs (questionably) first for PVP.
  10. Meh. Personally I recommend raning with void; I can actually kill them slightly faster with broad bolts then with melee, simply because they are rather spread out, have low HP, have frequently picked up drops, and because I can run around picking up drops without losing any time with a crossbow, thereby making it 100% attack time and somewhere north of 200 kills per hour.

Think different. I avoided trimming my cooking cape until 129 combat, shortly before I got 90 summoning. Just so I could see people flip out and try to make fun of me for it. Your not going to get any real respect out of people in an anonymous computer game.
  12. Dark bow is for a KO, not a fighting weapon. DD++ is so horribly inaccurate that its max cannont even be mentoined. About 5 out of 100 dd++ specials land both specials on me in tank gear, and even then the average hit is only 40 (at the most, usually closer to 30 or 20). AGS isn't that accurate either; over half the time, I spec 0-0 on high level players in good armor. Try 14 HP a go, virtually everyone uses braclet. Every high level player I know super sets before the game, a hat and cape would help mages more then anyone. Therefore, it's a bad example, as melee (should) have the upper hand. Whip is 1.5x as fast as crossbow, FAR less accurate, and even at 99 strength (at which your combat would be far higher then the rangers), the max in the best PVP equipment is only around 40. Rune crossbow maxes 55s, and is MUCH more accurate. Any wep is a pure win on pures. An 80+ ranger can hit faster then they can heal, and a dark bow will do very nasty things to them. I'm not sure what version of runescape you play, but in our version the staff costs around 4.5k (and dropping) for a miasmic barrage that will usually last the duration of the fight. Which won't be very long. Many people use melee, although range is now on the rise, simply because they don't know how to use it and because magic costs more.
  13. Look, I second Makoto. It's not Jagex's fault you forgot your recovery questions! They can't just give accounts out because you know an old password or two; that would only boost account theft.
  14. Main areas I disagree with you on: First of all, as previously stated, I blocked waterfiends, which reduced my charms per hour from the average slaying. Second, I meant you didn't include the time to earn the cannon money, which made your comparisons pointless; they MUST be included. Your bloodveild numbers appear to be correct, but you forgot a couple of factor: you were only recieveing 75k attack XP the 2nd time, meaning that more of your damage was going to the cannon (less XP) then meele. Also, a slayer mask will result in higher melee XP, making the difference in melee XP with and without a cannon more pronounced. If your numbers are indeed correct, we can calculate how much a canon will speed up our overall XP\hour on slayer, assuming 65k melee XP average on non-bloodveld tasks: Without cannon: 147,326 XP\hour (not including slayer) for a 200 kill task Using 160 as an average, we come out with 117,860 XP for a task in 48 minutes This will cost roughly 64k in prayer potions and super sets, requiring 9.6 minutes at Avansies to earn back, netting an additional 6.4k XP With cannon: 189,573 XP\hour (not including slayer) for a 394 kill task w\ 413,845 cannonball cost Using 160 as an average, we come out with 76,897 XP for a task in 24.3 minutes at a cost of 168,058. 168,058 will take 25.2 minutes to earn at Avansies, netting 16.8k XP. Potions will cost roughly 32k in prayer potions and super sets, requiring 4.8 minutes at Avansies to earn back, netting an additional 3.2k XP This leaves us with a comparison of: 58.6 minutes for a melee task, netting 124,260 XP in 59.6 minutes with 0 cost 54.3 minutes for a melee + cannon task, netting 96,897 XP in 54.3 minutes with 0 cost Standardizing costs, you are losing 27,363 XP to save 4.3 minutes, a rate of 381,809 XP per hour required to make it. The tiny extra slayer points from completing the task 7% faster (roughly 4.2k GP worth) do not make up for it. Your fatal flaw was not calculating the time required to gain the XP back. Good point. You spend far less time camping then slaying, making slaying more of a no lifing skill. He's saying that the 210 points total can be used, at a cost of 35 points each for a total of 6 purchases of slayer dart for 70k profit each or 420k for 10 tasks, to profit 42k on each task. The other bonuses from 100 levels and such bring it up to 60k profit from the slayer runes per hour. Or so I'm assumming, I'll take his word for it as I'm too lazy to calculate :P I remain unconvinced that that much money can be made with slayer, though. I lost over 5m training hard for a week with a cannon for half the tasks.
  15. Not in real, high level PVP. There's also plenty of vids of dark bow pjing (ice blitz + dark bow spec = KO, period). They pick and choose the best of all their specs for those vids; more people spec with a dd++, so there are more videos of it.
  16. Corporal beast is tough. A large team can only get a few kills. I'm not sure how big of a team Jagex could rely on; the tank can only eat so fast and for so long. I'm in favor of raising the HP cap, though.
  17. Read my post. I personally love the skill; it's just that the XP and drops suck.
  18. How much have you tested this? I've spent at least 700 hours in PVP, over half of them with dd++. I went from 92-98 strength in fight pits with a flail, dd++, and bandos godsword. I have spent dozens of hours dark bowing, ranging, and comboing. Trying to spec 99 defence\torags\DFS with a dd++ is a 0-0 virtually ALL of the time.
  19. Statistics speak otherwise. Remember this is compared to other page views, which is constantly rising.
  20. Mage can, and still, will easily beat melee. Range and melee are very close; dd++ is VERY inaccurate, and a regular rune crossbow with diamond bolts frequently outhits 99 attack\strength with 99 range, despite the 99 ranger being FAR lower combat.
  21. Yeah I have been here lurking here for a while, and I have noticed you in particular have a habit of making unsourced statements or citing "Studies" that have never ben confirmed by a third party(especially in your "Slayer Sucks" Topic). I have heard the rumor that there was some kind of lawsuit in the works against Jagex if they didnt get RWT under control, but that is what that is. A Rumor. Not a fact. It has never been confirmed anywhere. There are other ways that RWT could have been stopped. Jag decided though that they could kill two birds with one stone-stop losers like you from jamming their message centers with "OMG I gawt PK3d its s0 m34n im g0nn4 kill u" and halt RWT. I still play RS, and maybe saying it "died" is a little too dramatic. But a major part of Runescape was shut down that day, nobody can deny that. "VASTLY improved" In your opinion. You are not the final say on whther or not It has been improved. Im sure there are 60,000 people somewhere who would agree with me. Neither are you. I'm sure there are 60,000 people somewhere who would agree with me. Since you seem to be so fond of shouting down things, perhaps you could explain your own ideas to rid the game of unbalanced trades? Oh, and as for the 'slayer sucks', feel free to post on that thread if you disagree with anything. I'm not sure what studies your talking about, but there could be a few out there. I usually provide sources; occasionally I forget, but I always supply them upon request. Simple anti-macroing software could have handled this issue. They could have altered the drops so that macros would have no way of getting to them.Think of Rick Turpentine. All you have to do is CLICK on him and random event= over. They could have had increased player moderation of the wildy. They could have made an unlimited trade conditional based on a quest or something that would take the amount of time only a legit player would be willing to waste. Without macros, there is no RWT. Macros were the problem, not Pkers. How the hell would it be profitable for any business to spend hours every day PKing to get the gold? Macros were the problem. PKing was just one of the methods the Macros used to transfer the gold. I got tricked into going to one of those sites one time and 1 m goes for about 8 bucks. That would take days to make any significant profit in the old wildy, because most people just took rune or d hide into the wildy. This wildy change was not aimed at stopping RWT. It was a marketing decison to throw their old faithful under the bus and addict 5 year olds to an online game in an unhealthy way. I think there is a misconception about my post. Im not complaining that I was killed. Im complaining that that risk, that part of the game was removed. I bet you loved this update. Now you can just walk in back anf forth from the bank for 23 hours straigght uninturrupted. Fun, huh. No thanx. What? Many RWTers were high level accounts, run by paid-for employees. Some of them macroed; some of them didn't; most of them had a human behind the account who could beat the quest for a few hours and a few cents pay. PKing is a gold transfer method; it doesn't take hours, they ran into the wildy with coins or some item worth that much, and let the person receiving the gold kill them. The wildy change wasn't Jagex method of killing runescape.
  22. I stopped arguing because you never countered my final points. Posting pictures of max hits does nothing to that. Notice the hit in your sig, higher then all but one of the hits - the one that cannot be accomplished on a player! D bow and DH both have a max of 96, making melee and range absolutely equal in that area. Except that the ranger has a FAR lower combat level, and doesn't have to be at 1 HP to do it. Not that max hits are any indication whatsoever of the power of a combat class.
  23. You dont even get it. That was part of the game. There was RISK involved. You HAD to go to the wildy. Now, it is effortless to make millions of dollars with maybe a week of RC. The Revs are just not the same. You still haven't told us your solultion to the problem. By the way, I RCed 50k+ nats, dying a total of 3 times to PKers, losing roughly 170k, in the first 30k nats. After that I was smart enough to use a 1 click tele, and I never was PKed again.

  25. Do you get credit for the kill? No, you don't, because someone else lowered their hp. Most of the time i do. Only the stupid people. Anyone with partially functioning brains teles into the lumby safespot.
