  1. 1/11,000 chance of 3rd age item, average 30m per item = 2.8k per clue. 3rd age has virtually no effect on clue profitability. It's like throwing in a couple of firelighters to every clue, except that all the probability-stupid people go off on how great clues are cause you have a chance of 3rd age.
  2. Are you serious? This isn't even going to be the tiniest step for the end. Yep, I am serious. This is the main reason I would like to see everyone forced to prove and validate their real life ID before doing anything on the internet. Obviously there could be some problems in censorship countries; this would have to be thought out. But stuff like this, or youtube videos of people going 130 in a 60 zone? Nowdays it is simply too easy to hide behind a curtain of anonymity.
  3. What equipment\outfit\prayer\pots are you using? NOT. Slayer is lucky to get 65k melee XP\hour.
  4. Fastest XP at any cost? I'm sooo glad you asked. The fastest XP is currently speccing 9 friends with 99 hp\1 defence constantly with a dragon longsword, with several hundred friends standing around you casting lunar magic to renew your special attack every time you hit and using a super attack\strength on you every minute. All 9 friends have a full invo of sara brews + a yak with 30 more brews, with a set of 9 more friends standing on the side ready to replace the current set when they run out of pots while they bank. This should net you around 700-800k XP\hour. That failing, you could do zombie monkies (109k XP, loss of 120k) or armored zombies (101k XP, gain of 180k - better option if you make less then 5m an hour). But my previous method is still better XP, and free if you have nice friends.
  5. Simple solution: Don't do them! Clue scrolls stopped being worth doing a LONG time ago, and making god pages rare only compounded it further. Doing them is a waste of time, period. Jagex needs to fix this, I guess.
  6. Is what I wrote. Never said 360 def with 130 mage, I mentioned the option of changing out a piece of armor for a verac (bottom, typo) for more melee defense. I overrated the melee defense on the second outfit some, but I never said +360 slash. It's a choice between +35ish magic defense and +60ish slash. I will admit I haven't seen the miasmic spells in action, so things may have changed some, but even then, they encourage using magic as a sidearm for melee or range rather than addressing the issues magic still has. A mage may be able to kill melee now, but a ranger would do a better job after using mias and ice. Magic needs to stand on its own, and nice as the new spell is, it just expands hybrids. Magic gets an effective new toy, but magic isn't any more its own skill other than mages are no longer as squishy as they were. As for the seers ring, when your damage 100% relies on not getting hit, the extra defense weighs higher on the scale than +4 str. And you can keep wearing your defender, but my DFS is tried and true and I'm not about to change it off for a slight attack bonus. Fine with me, but you'll be on the losing end with anyone of equal melee standing. And you still haven't explaiend how your going to overcome your lower defence bonus and halved attack speed with melee. And this is for 99 stats, not 74-74, which would be the same combat levels.
  7. Aside from the fact that I'm still beating you 2-1 (your attacking at half speed, I have higher defence), the defender IS better then DFS. I've spent roughly 700 hours at fight pits\clan wars, so I have a bit of experience there too. And the idea of taking a seers ring instead of zerker while meleeing is a joke. Drop the DFS and all of your defence bonuses go way, WAY down. I'm still curious about your +360 slash, +130 mage outfit.
  8. So, could i camp at avensies with Void + Granite shield? Mabye, with bones to peaches. You might have to drop back to a tank outfit, though. Sweet, thanks. :thumbup: Broad bolts\Throwing rings\Dragon Darts are better then knives.
  9. He can't get junk. He would make 100k an hour making maple longbows; he can make 10x that at GWD. 3rd age is ugly and useless, I'm expecting it to fall sooner or later. Really, all you can do is keep them or sell them to a friend. Or me. Too bad granite died down.. It would be perfect for him now Not really, he still couldn't make 1m+ an hour that he can at GWD. There are really no alternatives.

Avansies = 400k profit, 40k XP\hour Chinchompas = 480k cost, 240k XP\hour 10 hours of Avansies + 8.3 hours of chinchompas = free (unlike yaks, cost of knives + pots), 400k + 1992k XP = 2392k XP in 18.3 hours = 130.7k XP\hour. Oh, and the estimations for avansies are low. I can personally get 600k+ profit, 60k+ XP\hour there, making for: 10 hours of Avansies + 12.5 hours of chinchompas = free (unlike yaks, cost of knives + pots), 600k + 3000k XP = 3600k XP in 22.5 hours = 160k XP\hour. I'd like to see yaks come within HALF the XP of either of those. Did I mention that both Avansies and Chinchompas are mostly uncrowded, unlike yaks, where even German worlds have several people in them?
  11. Feel free to show me your +130 magic outfit with +360 slash. And yes, melee is closer to magic at 99, but magic will still reign supreme; it's even less of a contest at 74 attack. Go on, show me your +130 magic and +360 melee defence outfit. I'm very curious as to what this is. Don't bother with armadyl, that reduces your melee stats signifcantly, and defender has been proven to be superior to DFS in melee combat.
  12. Admitting that you got that item because of hard work means that you are in some way better (i.e. more willing to work\smarter about what you do) then them. Lucky implies it was something that 'just happened' and could happen to them also.

  15. Yep, I said the same thing a few dozen combat levels ago, I never quite figured out why players said 'it isn't luck'. Now I reply in like to ever level 97 that says 'dude nice sgs lucky noob'.
  16. It's part of a combo: Holy Lord Saradomin... I've heard of "ice blitz combos" but I wouldn't expect another magical spell to be cast within that time! Does anyone know the cast times of any other spells? There could be even greater combos out there, potentially with three hits. This needs further ivestigation. Yep, Miasmic barrage + Ice barrage works, it's just hard to time right. That maxes 62, and 99 mage is equal to 74 attack\strength, not even enough for a godsword, and a max of well under 50 with an AGS. Not that you could wield it. 6,100,000 / 3,600 X 3 = 5,083 gp. So yes, I have to spend 5k for a cast that will last me around half of the fight. 10k per fight to halve the damage I take? Yes, I'm just fine with that. I'm not insanely rich, but I've spent well over 70m in PVP barrages for fun, and paying 5-10k extra per fight is just fine with me. What? With +74 mage I hit at least 4 out of 5 times in melee armor, because your bonus is around +10 How often are you hitting on my +258 slash again? Quite handy that melee armor, by far the most commonly worn, gives +0 magic defence. Oh, and protect from melee\mage protects from 40%, not 50%. The same thing could be said if I pray melee on you. My splash rate on armor isn't 1/2, so I'm not sure why your almost halving the damage for my magic. Assuming I miss 1/7.5, I will be hitting an average of 15 damage per cast; your whip hits of 40 (1/6th the frequency of mine, remember! You'll be frozen...) will average 20 damage, but you will be LUCKY to hit 1/5 times on my slash defence, higher then rune, and I will be healing an average of 19.5 damage per time you hit me. Oh, and 99 magic is the same combat level as 74 attack\74 strength, yet magic does very well against 99 melee. If you were 74 attack\strength, it would be a joke; you would almost never hit on my armor, and fairly low at that, with dd++ being your best speccing weapon.
  17. I'd be quite happy with less education. It's far more fun to go somewhere to find out how to do it then to follow a set checklist of wear this -> eat that. If I want something like that, I can go to a fansite that will have a far better guide anyway.
  18. 99 range - 74 attack, 74 strength. Assuming both players have 70 defence, who do you think is going to win? Hint: The meleer has a max hit of around 33, assuming he super sets and is able to use piety (although the ranger can get his +15% range at a much lower prayer level; if we include 44 vs. 70 prayer, the meleer has to have stats of 70 attack, 68 strength). Ever fought a 99 range tank? I have, and with virtually maxed melee stats it's a very close fight without specials. 99 range vs. 70 attack\68 strength is a joke. Did I mention that the range weapon (rune crossbow) costs 10k to whip's 1.4m? What about the d hide body vs. torag's? Oh, and the ranger hits 55 non spec, 96 with spec. The meleer hits 30 with a regular whip hit, 47 with an armadyl godsword (60m; slower then crossbow). Oh, wait: he can't even wield that godsword! Well, if we go up to 75 attack, our strength drops to 62 - giving us a max of 27 regular, 43 with Armadyl Godsword. So range maxes 60 non spec, melee 27 - and the ranger will hit FAR more often then the meleer. 99 range is accurate; 75 attack is not. The meleer might as well be speccing continuously with his 60m+ KO weapon; it doesn't matter, he will max a 43 and be far out hit by the faster, more accurate, much harder hitting range. Oh, and did I mention that melee is the skill that's supposed to beat range?
  19. I included melee rates in my thread, and you demonstrated what I meant by 75k\hour profit. I'm not sure what you meant by pots though; I've never seen a level 120+ who didn't pot for slayer. So yes, it comes back to the 'having fun at the expense of half the XP and profit".

Just throwing that out there, though. And if you get +20% on a flagholder's summon, range's max could be considered to be 180 with 46 range. What was that about melee again? You want to try a corporal beast with melee alone? Dragon bolts dont hit 60 at low range, i max 55 at 99 with 1 prayer. I'm talking about the special, which maxes 60 regardless of range level, bonus, prayer, or potions. dude dragon bolts (e) dont hit 60 no matter what range level does have somthing to do with it at 70 range i maxed like 40 somthing with the spec lol How much testing have you done? I'm fairly certain that the max stays the same, like ruby bolts, but I could be wrong. Even so, 60 at 99 range is about equal to melee's max at 74-74 stats. And by the way, 99 range will make 74-74melee stats look like a joke. Max hit is still a terrible way to compare skills.
  21. Your fine. You have 30 seconds after it collapses to pick up your items. So if your anywhere near it when it collapses, you can still get them, especially if you were standing right next to it. But just swap black d hide for armadyl in my setup, and possibly snakeskin for ranger\glory for fury\wealth for archers.
  22. Melee can beat range and range can beat melee. Melee can beat mage but mage can only beat melee. lolwat? So anyway, mage beats melee, melee beats range, range beats mage. What's the point? You already admited mage can beat melee, so what are you arguing for\against? A slow hitter is bad for a battle starter. And mage already maxes 50+ without spec; not that anyone sticks to 'pure' combat classes nowdays.

Fire Cape (I have to use 99, no fire cape yet) Verac's Helm Master Wand Ahrim Robetop Dragonfire Shield Ahrim Robeskirt Dark Gloves Dragon Boots Seer's Ring You forgot the horribly expensive staff that is destroyed in an hour. Nope, that's the staff you use for one cast in your inventory for 3k. KO and damage are two entirely separate things. Mage can deal out a LOT of damage, but the KO is slightly weaker with a max of around 50 in a single hit - but still almost the same as a non-special range weapon, and enough to take down players given that it almost always hits.
  24. First GWD trip in almost 6 months. I was in hemen's CC when he asked if anyone wanted to go, I was bored with nothing better to do. Had plenty of weird mess ups like teammate dropping out, hemen dismissing bird while it was in never-never land (AKA in a space too small for it to fit), and me bringing far fewer purple sweets then I should have :wall: . Still, it went pretty well; we got 51 boss kills, and I never touched a single pot outside of 1 restore dose to summon a 2nd unicorn. A combo of walking a few steps in front of Zill worked really well; I never had to use purple sweets, and I got hit so little that unicorn + BTP + SGS easily covered it. With 96+ range, we killed her fast enough that my SGS + altar kept prayer high enough. Long live the unicorn! We got a 3 way SS too, ending my GWD dry streak and the reason I quit it :lol: Hidden so it doesn't stretch out the page: [hide=][/hide]
