Ever heard of sidestepping? You have much to learn. How much have you PKed with magic? I'm assuming your magic\defence\melee levels are 99 for accurate comparisons. Nope. I am blaming the majority of the Runescape population for not knowing how to use magic effectively. I am including you in that majority, as your answers have indicated you do not have a clear understanding of magic tactics and methods. All that is based on your opinionated ideas, inaccurate due to your lack of experience and knowledge. You are throwing around assumptions and personal opinions as facts, and refusing to even try any of the methods indicated in my posts. Posting lolcats pictures isn't helping your reputation as a reliable source of information, either. It's merely cementing my stereotype of you as the typical 14 year old who glanced at the max hits of the different combat styles, and without any prior knowledge or experience decided to throw together a 'rant' based on max hits and weapon stats alone. For your benefit, I have included a link to a dictionary where you may peruse your quest for knowledge of the word 'parroting': http://www.merriam-webster.com/dictionary/parroting. You may also be interested in the words repeat and echo as synonyms in your never-ending quest for knowledge of the English language. For further information on the subject, please read these pages for more information: http://dictionary.reference.com/browse/repetition and http://dictionary.reference.com/browse/parrot, specifically the 3rd definition of "To repeat or imitate without thought or understanding.".

As mentioned before, mage is, at worst, an equal match with range - it is simple for a mage to farcast a ranger, and does very well against a typical tank ranger. Melee simply doesn't stand a chance; a mage will take him down in any situation. All of your point have been covered previously; endlessly parroting them will do you no good. The only reason mage isn't used as much is because it requires skill and tactics, something most RS players simply don't want to deal with. Melee PKing involves standing there smacking something with a whip until it or you keels over. Mage involves a complex intertwining of freezing, running, healing, penalizing and KOing with half a dozen assorted spells, all the while juggling inventories and prayers and keeping a watchful eye for PJers. Few people in RS can or want to do it properly - hence the lack of mage PKers. Those who learn know the power...

Very simple. No one combat class should completely overpower another one. Range does very, very well against melee - melee easily defeats an inexperienced (majority of RS) mage, although it loses to someone with more knowledge and practice; why should range be so effective against mage? Magic is expensive for a reason, and that reason is power. It's the best combat style in the game; a price has to be paid. That being said, I like the direction they took with FOG - providing free runes for mages. However, think of what castle wars\soul wars would look like with that; it would be virtually all mages!

jagex favors melee
Read the "magic is underpowered" thread. ALL your "proofs" were answered. Again, what is melee's max from 10 squares away? If you people refuse to listen to reason, just answer me that.

System Update
One of the few RS 'emergencies', even Zezima turned private chat on for a few minutes

System Update
Most likely, the official thread was updated, it seems that it's late at the Jagex towers and most of the mods are gone. I'm picturing frantic scrambling to get a patch out. One of the biggest glitches to hit RS. It's big news, and too many people don't bother reading the RSOF.

System Update
Apparently the system update has fixed the 'crash code' glitch. Anyone willing to test this themselves? Quite a few people I know were hit by it, at least we didn't have a full rollback :P

Barrage, Lobsters, and What Not
998 isn't nearly enough. I've gotten 121 crimsons in a set of 1k casts before; it's simply not enough to tell the whole story. Your SGS killings would throw off the damage calculations, and I would need a larger sample size to get any sort of accurate numbers off of it.

F2P Mage and range underpowered
If a tank goes for 99 defence, he will be 101 combat; hence why most tanks stick at slightly below. Check it out in the combat calculator. Summoning has no effect on PVP combat level, so I'm not quite sure where this '122 combat in PTP' is coming from.

jagex favors melee
If only. If Jagex gives melee a distance weapon that works as well as the whip at 10+ squares, melee will finally be equal. Until then, mage is the indubitable champion.

Slayer Sucks
Depends if you mean 'better' as in MUCH slower overall cash\XP or 'better' as in MUCH faster overall cash\XP.

Barrage, Lobsters, and What Not
More often then you'd think. I've had quite a few trips where I got significantly more or less crimsons then the average. I've bursted almost exclusively to my summoning level, though, so my numbers are fairly stable.

Crushing and stabbing weps never used.
Just because they are used does not mean they are superior. Whip + defender vastly outhits DH; the only reason DH is used is that it is easy to 4 item with it and lose almost nothing. Whip + defender will deal more damage per minute in every single type of combat then any other weapon in Runescape.

Slayer Sucks
Err, what? They are 60k better for money, a tiny difference, equivalent to a few minutes at GWD - but they are 65k melee XP instead of 103k, a huge difference considering we are talking about the fastest method of melee training.

F2P Mage and range underpowered
Show ANY place where I have said that pures are abusing the combat system. Pures are a weak, outdated type of combat style that lose to 'modern' weapons and armor. I have PKed on pures up to 94 range (Level on my old pure before I realized defence tank was the way to go), and tanked from 40-99 defence\60-99 range on a range tank. I treat safe PVP the same way as dangerous, using the same food, inventory, and teleports and counting deaths the same way, but aside from that I also have considerably experience in PVP worlds, bounty hunter, and the old wilderness. Wilderness PKing, varying from the castle to level 1 wildy around edge. Against melee I simply dodged a tree if I was being piled or the fight was going bad, then logged. Combat levels ranging from 40-95 Anyone who plans to train high. The better weapons make attack training just as worthwhile until you hit 40. Very, very few PKers pk at level 12-, so I don't think that's much of an issue. As mentioned before, you obviously won't be profiting. Because of the BH limit, tank rangers rarely exceed level 100; those who do end up PKing maxed meleers, and obviously losing. Range relies on fast, accurate hits to get a KO; I have gotten many KOes from the speed of a short bow. Melee has too slow of attack for an effective KO; if you watch carefully, you can eat at least 1 piece of food before a 2h comes out. Actually, that's exactly the opposite of what I said. Range is not underpowered as long as it has high defence and prayer, and melee isn't affecting combat level. Obviously if your trying to fight with a combat stat much lower then your level, like the OPs or yours, you will not do well. It's like trying to melee with 99 range, 100 combat, and level 25 attack and stength

Crushing and stabbing weps never used.
You take the dagger of your choice, I'll take a whip. Whip + defender will beat ANY other combination on ANY armor.

Since some people on tip.it won't get it, let's just say goldblade 'rick rolled' you via RSOF. I can, however, respond to the cheaper spells: Magic spells cost a lot because they are powerful. They beat the other two combat classes easily; the cost of that power is the price of the spells. It's a balancing act to keep EVERYONE from using them.

F2P Mage and range underpowered
Yep, I have. Curious about this 'abuse of the combat system', I suppose beating meelers is considered 'abuse'? I'll be sure to report the next tank I see. Melee is what, level 20 attack and strength? Really, no one is going to be PKing at level 12 combat. Range does, however, train much faster then melee at any level. Really? What tipped you off on that, the fact that range maxes out at under 100 combat? This point has been beat into the ground. I'm not talking about where melee maxes out, I'm talking about where RANGE maxes out. A 115 meleer won't even be able to attack most tank rangers.

jagex favors melee
Wahh. Pray tell, skinnymage, what is the max hit off melee at a distance of 10 squares? I could go on and debunk all of your 'arguments' individually, but that statement alone kills it. What is the max hit of melee from a distance of 10 squares?
-
Slayer Sucks
That is true, but there is a certain limit to that. I'm having a VERY hard time with the 140 crimsons per hour - I have tried many times, and I have never achieved anything close to that rate. Other numbers like proift for mages\demons are being skewed by small sample sizes; drops like this should be calculated from larger samples, as only XP can be accurately determined in a few tasks.

F2P Mage and range underpowered
Call it pointless, but that's how it is. Range and mage are both faster and cheaper to train then melee.

Time for armoury and weapons update for 120+ cb players?
Exactly - but it's something that, for good reasons, they stopped doing. You can't have weapons that will 1 hit someone; the line has to be drawn somewhere. In a world of rune 2thes, it was fine if they pumped out a better weapon every few months. Now it's reached its limit with barrows and whip; a nerf has to happen before they start escalating again.

Time for armoury and weapons update for 120+ cb players?
Further throwing off the balance against boss monsters. Boss monsters are released to be scaled to the power of the current weapons\armor, with drop values to match. How profitable is KBD now? Black demons? Giant mole? In the last few years Jagex has finally started to slow it down, and it's not a month too soon.
