  1. I'm saying that you should be punishing the posters, not the thread. If someone post spam, don't remove it - just hand out a week's ban. It'll get the point across very quickly, even though I know I would have gotten at least one of them over the course of time. Telling them to stop really isn't going to do much - I know it didn't for me. They do. I've seen it happen on a regular basis in forums like Rants, where a user posts a subject, is proven wrong, then says 'lock, people are refusing to get the point' or something along those lines. Despite the lack of spam or flaming posts, and even if an active discussion is taking place, along comes a mod with 'locked upon request'.
  2. Disagreed. He's right about the defence - bandos is going to hit most of the time when he ranges, and your magic level counts in magic defence. Strength is important for the 'hit runs', or good specs - a 60 BGS spec means the fight is over.
  3. And you can get 5 times the XP + CASH, not junk, with other methods. Horrible idea. Way, way too slow. You end up with a 1/20th profit. You'll spend 10 minutes loaning claws for a 5k profit
  4. No demons in medieval times, I guess it's just an offshoot now that the debate slash thread has died :-#
  5. 0. Your the guy I've never seen... I wish :P I've been proven wrong on a major issue once, on minor issues twice. Too little sleep and too fast of reading, I guess no one is perfect :wall:
  6. There's plenty of days where I log in for 5-10 minutes just to update GE, or 20-30 minutes to do all 1 time events. Per day isn't a good idea. Hourly charges simply do not work. It becomes so much easier if you look at it and say 'I could grind an hour now, have no fun, and lose 20 cents' vs not losing anything. Pay Per Use never works well for amenities, it just makes you play less and less. Really, the way we have it now works great. I'm entirely in support of a doubling or tripling of the fees - look at wow, they don't have a user problem, and I honestly think RS gameplay is superior. Even if they lost a big chunk of their subscribers, they would be receiving more money for better updates, pulling in far more new members\cash in the long run. Also, they should cut a massive amount of their customer support section. It's literally half the company right now - we could be getting twice as many updates if people squabbling over reports were just booted.
  7. Interestingly enough, those changes fit precisely into Andrew's statement - with new crazily undervalued yet easily obtainable items like chicken, it will be very easy to get around the trade limit for loaning or buying items with incorrect price, and it greatly benefits anyone with those items. It does, however, screw over people who wanted to buy them for themselves - now they'll have to pay a premium. And it does seem kind of counter-productive to anti-RWT. It does, however, fit exactly into Andrews statement - so you might want to change your title.
  8. Yes, you can do that. It's a common myth that you need to fight to gain potential, your just as well off standing there not fighting, or air striking the varrock mugger. Use bronze 2hes instead of daggers, though. The halved speed more then makes up for the damage increase.
  9. My opinion of moderation is that it should be keeping forums reasonably spam free and allowing debates\discussions\questions to occur with minimal interference while keeping them reasonably mature. Banning is one of the tools used to promote that. Just because a lock sometimes prevents spam doesn't mean it should be requested. If a thread is being spammed, then so be it - lock away. If the OP wants it locked simply because someone disagrees with his viewpoint or he believes his question has been answered (both very common), it should NOT be granted unless people are jumping on the bandwagon with useless posts, at which point the aforementioned bannings should take place. I have seen many threads in H&A where the OP posts a question, someone answers it incorrectly, and the OP requests a lock before anyone else can post corrections or updates. I've had to PM H&A thread creators after having a post locked with potentially harmful information (No, dropped items over 60k do NOT become visible to other players after a minute  ). Ehh, the people you want will be smart enough to know that clicking on a link isn't going to hackzorz their computer. I frequently visit scam\keylogger sites just to see what they look like. You can try and find a URL redirection service with a different name, but apparently tip.it tries to block them for reasons like this. I used to love [Censored for time being], when will they realize they can't hit nearly all of them :|

What good will that do? You'll end up with them crashing from whatever price Jagex sets to the price floor, remaining unsellable until an actual use is given them, after which they will be unbuyable for max and skyrocket up, ride the price roller coaster for a month or two, and finally settle on a price (probably near the initial one Jagex set). Or you could give a use to them while untradable, motivating people to do clue scrolls and making the price level out very quickly in the first week or two.
  11. Referring to your 'muhahah' at tricking someone with your video. It's on the same level as . Not really useful or helping your point in a debate.

Sure. Let's say you could buy the item for 1m before. Now, Jagex makes it so you can recharge it for a fee of 500k. The rarity of the drops will be adjusted so that there is the 'same' number of item uses; because people are using them multiple times and they are not being taken out of circulation, the drop will be much rarer. This will proportionately increase the 'initial' cost because there is fewer items but the same number of uses, so the initial item will rise to, say, 1.5m. This means that you will be less likely to get the item, thus making less profit off of it, and giving you the exact same usage and regular costs as before. Basically, because the value of the item is tied to how useful it is, if an item is 'useful' for 2m, it will ALWAYS be 2m - even if some prices have to be adjusted because of it. In a player controlled economy, if people decided an item or service is worth 500k, it will STAY at that price until the ease of obtaining or usefulness thereof changes.
  13. Exactly. Hence why team + solo worlds are almost always full, it's nicely balanced. For less crowded monsters, it really doesn't matter at all.
  14. Exactly. But your combat level is registered, making it by FAR the best balance possible. They do, slightly. But Jagex can't define priority for every single level; the best method is overall. The team with the most skilled players generally wins, given that the skills themselves are balanced between the two.
  15. Or ye laddies could just go to a different PVP world and put up with the few extra ms of lag. With only 2 servers, they can't put one in every continent, least of all the smallest one. It's all about the averages, baby...

Unless there's motivation besides pretty colors, your not going to see them being used. I virtually never see cockatrices, and the ones I do are usually the cheapest color.
  17. Take a look at bandos, I'll use that for an example. It is almost impossible to find an open LS world; I think I've seen 3 in my tens of thousands of bandos kills (See sig). Soloing is also very difficult; many, many worlds are full. If lootshare was opened to every world, soloing would be utterly impossible. They've done a good job balancing it, there are soloers as well as team killers. You have to account for both, and not simply let the team rule all.
  18. We aren't arguing about cost, we're talking about power. I've used mage very, very effectively at level 40-45 in FTP, and a TON of people PK at that level. It's not that expensive, and it massively overpowers the other two combat styles. Range has the same isssue, vastly out hitting melee at equivilant levels. Then again, how would you know? What experience do you have with a maxed range tank? I'm curious, since your range is currently unranked and your magic too low to even cast fire blast. Why are we arguing about medieval themes? For heaven's sake, magic didn't exist in medieval times either; RS has nothing to do with what's better and what isn't. Why would the intestine of a demon be a better weapon then a godsword
  19. Not true with skills, i.e. 2 mid levels > 1 high level. Combat is balanced as well as it can be with the huge defence hit; it's one of the best examples of balance I've seen in ANY RS minigame. They have it honed very precisely, and there's really no way of looking at one team and predicting who will win. The OP is whining that sometimes his team LOSES despite his valiant efforts :wall:
  20. Void has a lower max hit (and it's 15%, by the way), lunar or normal mage is used unless your comboing (in which case ahrims is better, you'll splash far too often in void) and has roughly the same accuracy due to the +12 slash from barrows gloves. Plus it has terrible defence; you'll get specced out by d bowers. I speak from experience - have you ever tried void\bandos PJing with AGS? I got off a 76-26 the other night, missed screenshot though -.-
  21. Perhaps you could explain how they SHOULD have done it? Right now, it's balanced by evening out combat and skill levels in the waiting rooms, resulting in teams with virtually identical skills and combat levels (or as close as you can get while still allowing most people to play). Therefore, the team with more skill wins. The only way they could 'balance' it more in the OPs eyes is by making HIS team win every time
  22. Watch a few videos for the overall invo\method, but only personal experience with teammates you trust can teach you how to do it.
  23. Muggis is better <3: Nope. MAXED OUT RANGE. <3: XP means nothing, carefully analyzed and detailed methods for luring with clear, detailed logic behind it coupled with years of personal experience does.
  24. Even training will give you the most bang for the buck, but attack is most useful.
  25. Muggis is better
