  1. This is a sarcastic post making fun of people who gripe about stuipd things, right, RIGHT? [cynical side] Train or get over it. You do fine against people your level, train more if you want to defeat higher levels [/cynical side] Ok, upon further examination, I'm positive this is a sarcastic post. INB4TEHLOCK!

Melee is only weapon based? Is this a serious conclusion you're making? Then why do dozens of types of armor sets exist for melee? Can you explain your statements further? P.S. Look at how many sets of armor melee has for every 10 levels. Now that I think about it, I REALLY don't understand what you're saying. Ok. Feel free to show me just how many melee armors give a melee bonus 5 times what the weapon does. Way to miss the point
  3. The rewards are terrible. Far, far, FAR better to train a skill the old way. Worse even then pest control :wall:

Look, morning rise is doing a good job with this (Yell if you get tired, I'll pick up where you leave off :P ) but your missing a BIG point, Elusefelier. Mage is ARMORED based - the largest mage boost I can possibly get from my weapon is +20; I can get over +100 boost from my armor. Melee and to a lesser extent range are all weapon based. How come the meleer can switch armors without changing his 'attack style' but mage can't switch weapons? Mage is an ARMORED BASED combat style, and it's one of their advantages. Stop whining about it.
  5. That's why he's asking, he doesn't want it to look like every other persons 99. I still go for the KOing bandos with a d claws\ags spec - safe, cheap, anyone with 60+ strength can come. Do that and I'll be there 8-)
  6. Wow, what a copycat. Liked this idea, but some friends cant enter bandos(lower lvs) so i need a place where lower levels can go in. Bandos only has a 60 strength requirement; everyone but the tank is safe, so long as you get a skilled tank that can sit around getting hit, you shouldn't have a problem. It's much easier then with any other boss monster where everyone, not just the tank, is in danger.
  7. It might sound weird, but a cool idea would be to level on General Graador - get to within a couple XP, then have your team lower him then run to the corner while the tank continues to tank. Then you could AGS spec him to get the level by killing him :P Wow, what a copycat.
  8. In the duel arena. On me. As you hit the ground from a 116 d claws + blitz combo. Or you could level it on jad. I'm so good with original ideas! :o

You just don't get it. A mage is SUPPOSED to be against a meleer with 70s stats - unable to even wield a godsword! Yet mage can effectively take down a maxed combat player - equivalent to a level 95 player vs. a 138!

Exactly. Mage has a huge advantage in that his robes give hm a big boost - he can wield an alternate weapon, and using the threat + spell effects of mage, tear apart a meleer or range. A mage in mage armor with a whip is no different then a melee in range armor with a whip.
  11. They are worse then a whip in essentially every situation, leading to them almost never being used.

Ah, that clears it up. You mean fights to the DEATH, not fights where people are KILLED. Wait... Rangers long range mode, for the few who switch to it, is slightly slower then mage - allowing the mage to hit and run getting hit at most once every 3 rounds. Very few rangers actually try to PK in full gear; those that do can be swiftly dispatched by a whip thanks to their slow attacks and your fairly large range defence (in the 150 range). It still seems certain that the mages have significant advantages which can be fixed by simple changes in game mechanics.

Almost all meleers level 90-110 are in rune. I was referring to poison, 35% reduced attacks, healing, and halved attack speed. You said it yourself - the majority of kills are away from a bank. Hence why mages don't fight there; what's the point of funning only to have your opponent tele away at the end? Same problem as with melee and range, and the mager can hit the tab just as easily as the meleer. It's very practical to farcast rangers - what don't you understand about that? A good mage bonus will smash through a d hide top, leaving the mager free to farcast.
  14. Basically, whip is king for everything but 2-3 rarely-fought monsters, where 2 other weapons narrowly beat it out. :P

You realize, in the setup I described earlier, the mage has +250 slash - GREATER then the meleer in full rune? He can melee the meleer without any of his 'mage powers' and STILL come out on top. Add to the mix all of the spell effects and he's out hitting the meleer by FAR. PJing is only an issue in major world PKing - the spot where a kill is almost never scored except by a PJer with claws. The majority of real death fights are fought away from there, be it in the wildy or a training spot. A ranger is also at a big disadvantage - a black d hide top simply does not provide enough defence. The mager can farcast him as well, hitting quite well through d hide - in my outfit, I generally hit more often on a ranger then he hits on me, and when he's frozen I can stay out of his range and heal off of him. There's really no comparison, ahrims are extremely overpowered with melee defence.
  18. -Few people killing Iron/Steel dragons is why they are full on most worlds ;) On a Slayer task of any metal dragon, it would be better to use Melee for the Mask/Helm bonus. Also, choosing to use a whip when another weapon attacks a fairly pronounced weakness is fairly inefficient. - Range is better for Mithril unless you have higher melee stats than range. But then, I've known people who Dharoked them, so what is best is really up to preference  -To say no one kills Kurasks and Turoths is fairly inacurate. They are assigned as slayer tasks, there are bound to be people who kill them there. Majority of people killing metal dragons are ranging\maging or just there for a bit of fun with a whip :P They are only assigned by lower masters, and are usually blacklisted. Plus most people range them.
  19. Here - 2.7k There - 5? 4/5 are buying\selling, plus 1 of me 'discussing' d claws with someone (see RS Pic thread) :|
  20. Its funny how the inexperienced person with the grand exchange thinks that he is the only one wanting an AGS for min price and that with the GE if you put an offer for min and someone has a higher offer (say medium) your sword will go to the person with the offer in medium... Whats even funnier is at those people Beacuse i put at least 500gp more then med Good fight them \ I put at least 503 GP more then mid. Actually, between 10 and 100k depending on the cost of the item :P
  21. All of those are covered by the leaf bladed spear. Whip is better for iron dragons, no one kills turoths\kurasks, few people kill iron\steel dragons, range is better for mithril.
  22. Whip = everything but Waterfiends, Corporal beast, Training Strength (Train controlled, training strength alone is dumb) SS = Training Strength if your one of those people who can't stand to train controlled, waterfiends, otherwise useless LBS - Good for metal dragons (blacklisted for slayer, otherwise never killed) and Corporal Beast. Basically, whip covers everything besides 2 monsters in the entire game.
  23. I share his opinion. :P So do I :P Quick summary of this thread: Torso isn't worth getting, it's a waste of time, but if you enjoy BA, play it and get the torso if you want to. Agreed :D It's my standard ending to all torso threads, designed to appease the 'get it if you want it' people
  24. So they would introduce a new weapon like a whip, only for stab\crush. Interesting idea, but it's really not that important - the differences in armor are minute, and certainly not worth keeping 3 separate weapons. Then comes the problem of balance - if one of the weapons is much harder to get and thus more expensive, it will never be used. The cheapest one will be used for almost all situations. This would require a rework of the combat system for 3 exactly equal weapons, not a 'beefing up' of a few of the current stab\crush weapons. There can only be one 'best' weapon.
  25. I share his opinion. :P So do I :P Quick summary of this thread: Torso isn't worth getting, it's a waste of time, but if you enjoy BA, play it and get the torso if you want to.
