This info might be usefull still: I had almost exatly the same problem. If this happens again and booting doesn't help: 1. Use Internet Exploder (No typo) to start up the runescape.com homepage 2. Press play game (existing user) 3. On the detail select, go down to where it asks what kind of Java you want to use 4. Select Microsoft Java, follow the instructions 5. Reboot, reinstall FireFox (I did this, I wouldn't be caught dead using IE volintarily) and Voiala (However you say that) Firefox uses MS java, which is slower, but it's worth it, any FF user will agree.
