06-Sep-11 - New High Level Prayer Potion
Has MMG been fired and we haven't been told? Other than member's advertising, which we really need to talk about, the update's a good one. We really need to give training skills to a high level a money-making reward in the form of tradable content, and this fits the bill. Also, I've always considered prayer flashing as a bug exploit, personally. They should just make everything consistent and do the same with Summoning points.

My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic
Saw it on a show I was watching and I was like... :wall: I think they're a good thing. It makes it a lot easier to work out who you shouldn't be hanging out with. I don't often use memes, but when I do, I make sure to put them in an appropriate place. Fandom, on the other hand, is a great thing to express on a t-shirt. On a similar note, I've got a particularly elegant MLP wallpaper on my phone to share, nabbed off EqD, which I resized to android's weird wallpaper aspect ratio. I just like the style of it. Also, to anyone who isn't in the know, it just looks like some artsy background when it's covered in widgets and icons. [hide=Warning - Huge Picture!][/hide]

The Q Word
I have no desire to quit. This game is still as fun as it always was. One thing I don't buy into is mass hysteria. Sorry.

Libya Uprising thread
A worthy bump. The NTC has consistently impressed me as capable and rational as a transitional government can be. Here's a copy of a draft of the constitution that is currently being drawn up, the NTC will only ratify it if two-thirds of the population agree to it: http://www.al-bab.co...ional-Stage.pdf Make no mistake, Libya isn't going to be like "western" countries like the US or the UK, and neither should it be, but it does look democratic. I like it, it does its best to reduce corruption, but otherwise in many aspects it's very liberal. What do you guys think of it? As for the CIA and MI6 having worked with Gaddafi, it really doesn't surprise me. Nobody liked him, but the man had oil and the capacity to directly influence the world economies. We can all easily be horrified and ridicule them, but really, any rational person would at least talk with Doctor Evil if he could significantly damage their country with a moon-laser. Lesser of two evils and whatnot.

RuneVillage - Removed as gold status because owner is a sex offender
Let's not get too far ahead of ourselves here. If you're on the sex offenders' register, you have been punished under a court of law. If we start doubting the validity of the decision made by the courts, we have to give up any sort of notion of law or punishment for anything. That's too much doubt placed upon a process that has been honed for centuries to eliminate false positives, to the point that it churns out a fair amount of false negatives and only punishes when there is a definitive line of evidence that proves the defendant committed the crime. Make no mistake, if you're on the sex offender's register, it's a reasonable assumption to make that you're on there for a very good reason. Secondly, we have a free press. You can't go into some kind of denial that you can be rendered immune to the thoughts and opinions of the people around you. Consider the inverse, would you think it would be progress if the government was free to arrest and take people away, convict them behind closed doors without public scrutiny, and enforce a total media silence on the treatment or the reason of the treatment of the person? My point is, while there is always progress to be made to eliminate miscarriages of justice, that does not mean that we should start giving up our rights to free speech and exist in a state of judicial anarchy.

Look at all them attempts to hack my pro account!
I have a 'main' email that I use to connect nearly all my accounts and give to friends for communication (which I think I'd be wise not to post here ), and I never get spam. Ever. What is it that people do to get these things?

01-Sep-11 BTS September
Wow -- need some kleenex after that nerdgasm?  Yeah yeah -- I will probably get banned for this one -- but it was funny and so I went there ... <_< Haha! :P No, not after that one, that wasn't really a nerdgasm, more a massive splurge of thoughts that Will H, myself and a few other friends came up with xD I might have slightly gotten hyper over this though: BOWTIES ARE COOL! Ahaha this made me so happy when I saw this. All we need now is a point where we have to wear a fez for a really contrived reason, because, you know, fezes are cool. Props to Jagex and our crackpot theories.

what do YOU think?
Toad was being sarcastic, or at least I really hope s/he was. I think I speak for the majority here when I say that we're all a bit fed up of the doomsday predictions when they actually don't have much substance. This game is still fun, there's a LOT of content and things to do, and actually, when you think about it, the bots have only infringed on a tiny part of that. Luckily, that particular discussion has died down a bit now, and people have come to accept that. Eh, in any case, I'm still going to be here, grinding away. EDIT: I was there when free trade went. What people are saying now is but a smidgen on what people were saying then.

If a Farmer looks after your patch....
Yep. :)

01-Sep-11 BTS September
Meep. *cower* This entire month hinges on ROTM, but looking at the developers, it seems like a pretty safe bet. Also, this is the first time in AGES that I have had to train for a quest. It just had to be agility though. :(

What makes a good tipit member?
Pretty much my thoughts. Someone who you could have a beer with and still like them afterwards.

Any advice for a returning player?
If it really was as bad as you're saying, neither you or the rest of us would be here. The rest of us enjoy this game. My advice to Crossed_Body: Don't be unhelpful when people ask for it. *ahem* Sorry about that. Big things are Dungeoneering, official Clans and recently the Citadels, return of Free Trade and the Wilderness after a referendum, veteran (5 year), max and completionist capes, the Void Knight quests, Runefest, the Jagex Cup, Bonus XP weekends, Slayer master Kuradal, Nex (level 1001!), and Nomad's Requiem. There's lots more, but those are the main big updates I can think of. Oh, and all hitpoints and damage were all multiplied by ten, so you didn't have the awkward situation of newbies being blasted with glancing blows from weak monsters, and you can get really rare and expensive armour that boosts your max hitpoints (Torva, Virtus and Pernix). You get used to it eventually.

One More Trainee!
...Was I really the only person to look at the top left corner and think, "Those small bags of white stuff look a bit dodgy"? Congrats Leik, and best of luck to you. I don't totally remember but I'm pretty sure it was one bag and it was the bag my candy came in from the shop XD Yeah sure. The "candy" all the way from the "shop". Congratulations, Leik. Together, we shall smite the trolls!

Fate of the game
Nothing out of the ordinary, really. The playerbase would quickly leave, leaving behind the loyalists, and the servers will eventually be shut down. The game might even be open-sourced. MMOs historically end not with a bang, but with a whimper. Rest assured, though, the one thing that Jagex isn't doing is losing money right now. No matter how much fun people are having proclaiming doom for the game (as they have been doing for years and years), currently it's not equating to a financial decline for Jagex and/or a reduction in the players of this game. It's going to be going for a long time yet.

Favorite Quest
I'm going to have to go with The Chosen Commander, of the Cave Goblin questline. I really like Zanik, and the concept of a tribe literally fighting off a god was awesome. Shortly behind is While Guthix Sleeps, A Soul's Bane, and Love Story.

New Slayer cave
I wouldn't call it overdue, really. Slayer's a popular, well rounded skill, and it's had plenty of updates. The rewards are way more substantial than a lot of other skills (looking at you, Firemaking). That said, I'm not going to complain about it, good content is content and good content is good. Even if this should have been of a lower priority when it comes to fleshing out skills, at least the fleshing out of skills are still being done. I get the feeling that the developers enjoy designing new monster and dungeons more than most things. I look forward to it. :)

Anyone studying in Trondheim?
It would be quite a coincidence if someone actually said yes. Did you want advice?

Refer a Friend Programme - 18 Aug 2011
Don't suppose it's too late that we request that we interview Mod Nexus instead, huh?
-
Refer a Friend Programme - 18 Aug 2011
This is beyond weak. People are only going to abuse it, and fundamentally it's not fun. Some of the best times in the game are to be had training your initial levels, getting your first equipment, and discovering the world, please leave that alone!

The Beginning of the End of Murdoch's Empire
This is very true, but if you stop treating the Sun, like Jeremy Clarkson, as a constantly serious source of news, it can be very entertaining. I personally only read the local paper, and get the rest of the news from BBC and Sky on the internet, as well as a few other websites if my news feed links to it. I think a lot of people do the same.

Habits picked up from video games
RS taught me how to type really quickly, and I sometimes try to visualise Minecraft versions of buildings.

17-Aug-2011 - Temple Trekking: Revamped
It wouldn't be so bad if there weren't like 6 of them on the hard route coupled with the fact that Ivandis flail is the slowest piece of [cabbage] ever lol. Also Chris L is easily one of the best, if not THE best developers working for Jagex right now. I loved TT before but now it is just awesome. Have you tried upgrading your flail by cremating vyrewatch? It gets a stat increase for every 50 you do, up to 500. If you max it, it's not that bad.

17-Aug-2011 - Temple Trekking: Revamped
I have always always wanted one of those, from the day that I got a druid pouch years and years ago. I love the symbolism of the name too.

17-Aug-2011 - Temple Trekking: Revamped
Temple Trekking is fun, yes. Whether it's worth it depends on what you like to do as a player, but for most players they sound pretty good.
