Hell, the intelligence thing was probably the most on-topic thing in the entire thread. What is "intelligence"?

Well with philosophy, almost everything can be "on-topic" :P

Real life help & advice
That's an excellent place to start. Now do some research, go to the library, find some info on those. You don't have to choose, but knowing that you enjoy learning about either (or both) of them will be a huge benefit. That is assuming those are topics you enjoy, and not ideas forced on you by your parents. Hobbies don't have to be non-academic. If you love learning, then learn. Lol@Elknight. Good luck convincing the NFL to change its name. We already have an NHL, anyways. I already know why I want to do each. My parents want me to become a doctor, and I know, along with them, that the best jobs in the world are in medicine (Very high starting pay, people will keep getting sick = no unemployment, the job is incredibly easy once you pass med school). I want to go into computers/engineering, but that has very low pay and it is hard to get a job in a recession like the current one. Don't base what you are going to do based on money or what others want you to do. Do something that you will actually enjoy doing in your life. Where you won't complain when you wake up every morning about doing something you don't want to do.

I think that society really tries to push us to live by that rule. I don't like planning because it stresses me out. I used to do more planning but then I would get too upset when something changed and didn't go the way that I planned. Now I just like to take things as they come.

I think it is more interesting and exciting to do things when they aren't planned ... you know what I mean?

You don't get an F- on the test in the future then. Basically you would of went to the future seen an A+ and then gotten that.

Yes and it's a good thing. There's a time and a place for seriousness and one for silliness. The internet is the perfect place to have both in the same comment. That would be one of those silliness ones, and it came out of the seriousness perfectly. You have to admit, Roccodog had good timing with that one. That's a perfect example of the right way to use memes. I agree. I seem to look at people who can crack and take a joke as overall smarter people ( not "book smarts") than the ones who are always serious. I think that a lot of people take life too seriously.

Yes, it may help. But if I were to earn a lot of money it would be by enjoying the process of earning it, and the money just being something on the side. That's why people try to go into careers that they enjoy. A lot of people still don't. Because they put money in front of actual happiness.

Most of us are either teenagers or young adults, I'd be more worried if there wasn't that kind of post. As much as I love these threads, it's a bit odd to see ridiculously serious 16 year old males discussing quantum physics or the science behind origin of the universe when most people that age are too busy playing Halo and figuring out what their penis is for. By odd, you mean it is different from the norm right? And do you see that as a good thing or a bad thing?

People can share their ideas with others, there are just points where no one is actually discussing anything on this this thread, so a bit of fun doesn't hurt. But I see what you mean, sometimes I wish that a person would respond to a statement in a non-joking matter so that more actual discussion could be done.

Grade wise, my grades are a lot better then what they were last year, maybe because I am putting more effort into the work that I do. The teachers I have this year almost all seem to be better then the ones I had last year, but our Chem teacher is out for 4 more weeks because his wife had a kid. So we now have a sub for him and she just can't teach well at all. It doesn't help that she is Indian with a heavy accent and English is not her first language. Not saying that foreign teachers can't be good, its just that she said she taught in India and I think she just doesn't know how to teach well in English. Regarding homework, I have become horrible at managing time ( but I don't regret it) and sometimes I can't motivate myself to do school work. Again, I don't regret it, I'm a great self-motivator, I just don't have a reason to self-motivate myself to do the work. Either way it usually gets done well, even if I only sleep 3 hours because of the procrastination. Socially, nothing much has changed, I've met some people and maybe become better friends with others, but no big change from before. I have been doing basketball conditioning, lifting and open gyms almost every day after school. I also play in a couple of fall leagues. I'm most likely going to be playing varsity basketball as a sophomore this year :) Overall, school has been... well... like school.

You would be happy for a short period of time, but then say after a year, your level of happiness will most likely be the same as before. There was a survey done where people who had just become paraplegic were compared to people who just won the lottery. Of course, right after the accident that caused them to lost their legs paraplegics weren't as happy as those who just won the lottery. But after a year both the paraplegics and the lottery winners had about the same level of happiness.

What exactly does being successful mean? The dictionary definition says "Accomplishing an aim or purpose". But many people that are said to be successful don't feel like they actually are. I think success is accomplishing something that is not only your goal, but something you actually want to succeed in. Something were you really feel good after achieving it and it makes you happy, not just because society thinks it is good, but because you think it is good. I find it sad that there are many people who make a lot of money in their lives and think they are successful, but they never actually are. They never actually enjoy making all the money, it doesn't mean a lot to them, it just looks good to society.

So from your point of view... someone who makes a lot of money is successful. Ok, I guess that makes sense. And to TheDarkSide, it happens. If you don't think you should be in a relationship with her you should probably break up with her. That way you can go about finding someone who fits you better.

But is that not what a country is? If you dislike the society and the government, then what do you like about it? The land itself, the people (I know I've already said I hate the people, but my survey sample is an upper-middle class high school. Not the most quality group, you know?), the locations, and although it has been severely limited, the freedom to do this in the first place, much as the gov discourages it. Well you haven't been to every other country in the world right? How do you know you won't like the people in other countries better? And other countries have freedoms as well.

Fail double post. <_< And Dizzle, I think that other countries around the world have different policies regarding taxes. I am often intrigued at why a lot of people never even consider moving to a different country.

"I want a girlfriend/boyfriend", and other such relationship advice
Well Lent, you wouldn't be having the problem with girls being too easy and not being "good" enough for you if you weren't completely awesome right? Well, the image name is "notimpressed.jpg"... So I guess you're not impressed? I think it was more of a passive aggressive way of calling you a kiss ass. But it's not anything to make a scene about. Oh. Well I wasn't being too serious in saying what I said, but it wasn't a complete joke either. Anyways, about that girl I have a "crush" on. Things are progressing, I'm getting to know her a little more and becoming more "flirty" with her. Soon enough I will reach a point where either I get over her because of what I learn about her or begin to like her even more because of it. This shall be interesting (hopefully).
