  1. Same here -- that'd be awful.
  2. I would say that -- leaving the eggs of other animals our of this -- it was still the egg. I would have thought any one particular animal is going to be the same animal all its life -- it's not going to evolve when it turns 20, or anything like that. In that case, a chicken would need to begin life as a chicken -- and chickens start life as eggs... so... Also, suppose it's s shades-of-grey issue: chickens became chickens slowly, and the things in between are half-chicken-half-whatever. In that case, it's still the egg, because those creatures had eggs.
  3. Yeah -- my alarmclock is sort of annoying. What's worst, though, is when I'm already awake when it goes off: I really can't stand that sound. It's not just "beep beep beep"... it's more "sound of speakers turning on AAAAAHHH! AAAAAAAHHHH!! AAAHHHHHHH!!!!" -- it is perhaps the most annoying sound i know. It's OK when I'm actually asleep, though; in those cases, I'm not awake enough to care what it sounds like.
  4. First of all, the alarmclock wakes me up -- and I have to get out of bed to turn it off. What keeps me up, however, is all the obligations I have in the waking world, like, atm, exams and so on.
  5. There is, of course, a difference between beating a child and giving them a hard pat on the head. I don't really approve of the latter -- and I certainly disapprove of the former. The way I see it, there shouldn't really be a reason to hit (well, tap hard) kids. Of course, if they're about to do something really stupid and dangerous, and there's no time to get their attention otherwise, then yeah, I would be all for it. Taking them across your knee and hitting them on the rear, though -- I don't see the point in that: you'd just get a really annoyed child who'll probably want to get revenge on the parent somehow. The only way to stop that would be a more serious beating, and then, well that's just going to escalate into something ridiculous. To sum up: gentle hitting when absolutely necessary, beating never.
  6. I want Pete to win for reasons twofold: 1- his is the first name on the list 2- Though I'm not actually called Pete, the name is included in mine on tip.it.
  7. I suppose it depends why they hate / get on with me. If it's because I'm good looking or ugly, then I'd rather be good looking, as I don't really want to be friends with people who base their friends and enemies on looks. If it's because I'm a really nasty attractive person, then I'd rather be a nice ugly person, yeah. But, if there's nothing wrong with me, and I'm good looking, then I still don't really mind what those people who hate me think. I don't know -- probably, overall, ugly and liked.
  8. Probably... probably when I hit someone harder than I meant to -- totally unprovoked, too. I meant to sort of tap him on the shoulder, but accidentally (really, it wasn't deliberate) I think I hurt him quite a bit. It was embarrassing because people just looked with the expression of "what the hell was that for" on their faces. Still friends, and all that, but yeah, that was bad. I mean, bad for a few seconds, but bad all the same.
  9. Am I a bit puerile in finding that address funny?
  10. Well, obviously. I was trying (incorrectly, it seems) to suggest that the rook doesn't jump over any pieces, when in fact it does: the other piece involved.
  11. Yeah, the rook does jump over the king. Didn't think of it like that, because they move at the same time.
  12. Castling can only be done when there's nothing in the way, and when none of the squares through which the king* moves are threatened by anything. *but not the rook.
  13. As I get older, the little kid in my gets bigger -- that is, more substantial, not older. I'm not going to get any of the consoles; I don't really like consoles.
  14. Right, well mine's the 24th of September. Same as my dad's, actually.
  15. I notice there's a clockwork orange there; beneath the big fish; next to the running chicken. On the left there's also a lion, a witch and a wardrobe. Also, there is a flipper leaning against one of the benches.
  16. *clap clap* Same here. I'm not, btw.
  17. Yeah -- that was good. Nothing with him in a major role, though.
  18. I've actually not seen him in any action films, no -- this was just from what I'd read about him. If I see a film on with him in it, I'll try and watch it.
  19. It'll be a shame if this tarnishes people's oppinion of Chuck Norris as a person -- that is, if it makes them think that he's a bad guy. From what I've heard of him, he seems nice (not that I know a whole lot about him or anything).
  20. Same here -- but at a different house.
  21. I reckon it'd be a bit of a damp squib. The bits would be too heavy -- there's not enough momentum in a sledge hammer to cause them to fly all over the place. ... a wrecking ball, on the other hand: that I'd like to see.
  22. -- Oh: Chuck Norris is my computing teacher. Just thought I'd make that known once more.
  23. I think maybe it's because if you like a particular genre of music, people assume you're a particular sort of person. Most people wouldn't label someone as a particular type because of the films they've seen. Music is something you listen to again and again, whereas films (usually) you see every once in a while -- that is, people generally don't sit at home every night and watch the same film, or the same few films again and again. As for why people argue about even the slightest thing when it comes to music... I couldn't say. Perhaps it's to do with people having very strong views about classifications of music, but not as strong views about classifications of films.
  24. I've not explored Oblivion enough yet to say whether or not I'd class it as a favorite... but then, I suppose I have been on and off it... since I got it, I suppose, so there must be something in it. Hmm. Yeah, definitely the Baldur's Gate games (the PC ones, of course). They're fantastic. I think I shall install BG1 again soon, and start from scratch. I like Final Fantasy Seven... but to me, it's not really so much a roleplaying game as an interactive story, so I don't really class it as a favorite game. Erm... I've not been on many games, recently. Strugging to think what I'd normally list in this topic. Probably Fallout Two: that was good. Asside from, maybe, Icewind Dale, I can't think of any remotely modern ones ATM.
  25. Really? Odd -- he looks exactly what I'd expect someone called Chuck Norris to look like -- and not just because I already know what he looks like, either.
