This is going to be one of those times where I tend to agree with both parties, ultimately it gets to a point where gaming is dominating your life (addiction) when you're not on a professional level. That's a problem. Casual gamers / weekend warriors, on the other hand, generally do have careers. Half the gamers I know hold down full-time jobs in various fields (one is infact a scientist, Trapical :P) another a lawyer, and the rest float around their various IT fields and a few DJ's. In the long run, I'd rather promote gaming than going out every second night getting trashed, sleeping with a dozen people and taking drugs (ie: the people who diss nerds tend to be [/generatization]); and perhaps going around speeding while drunk, and generally being a menace to society. Might be 'lazy', in a sense, but at the end of the day the only person they're puting at risk is themself (unless they happen to be a parent who is addicted to said game they play in which case - bad). But you can't always win.

Ironically it all changed after than when people realised I was quite content to putting a person in hospital if they wanted to take a poke at me. That ended my being 'bullied' wasn't the intent, just an amusing side-effect. On the side the 'just walk away' approach never worked in my area, you turn you back on someone, try to leave, whatever. And they'll hit you in the back, head, with whatever they had on them - then keep laying into you. Essentially you had to stand your ground or get snapped.

And by taken away - they mean... Initially (back on scapeboard) you could make polls. It was ok, then came the flood of crap (like what tripis mentioned) so they got taken away for something like two and a half years before another thread was started to get them back. That worked, entire community got a trial period of like a few weeks or something, if pointless polls weren't spammed around the place they could stay. And behold, after the "trial period" ended, up came the complete crap with a poll attached, so away they went for good. Sucks but that's what you get when the greater community acts like morons. Simply put - you can always pm a moderator to put a poll into your thread if you believe it's worth it.
