  1. Not before someone gets filthy rich by merchanting broken axes :
  2. The slayer helmet is absolutely invaluable. I suggest you get the ability to make it (provided you have 55 crafting) to be able to get a replacement in case you somehow lose it.
  3. "Ownerkid40"... Kids are so original these days. I won't comment on the conversation, since it's apparent what I would say.
  4. For the stew part: 1. Use your kitten/cat to catch hell mice in Dave's basement. Collect all the spice (I suggest leaving 1- and possibly 2-doses on the floor). Get at least 7-8 doses of each spice. 2. Buy or make some normal stews. You can buy from GE or in Brimhaven. Around 18-20 stews is the total maximum, usually you need less. 3. Add 1 dose of one spice to the stew. Give it to Dave. Notice if he says he likes any of the spices. Then add 2 doses of the same spice to another stew. Notice if his reaction changes. Test with all 3 different doses, and notice which one he likes most (don't forget that he can also like it if NO doses of some spice, so if his response is "don't like, don't like, don't like", try giving him a stew without that spice at all. 4. Repeat step 3 for every spice. 5. Finally, when you found out required dosations for each spice, add them correctly to one final stew and give it to Dave. And yes, only test one spice at a time, do not bother wasting spice.
  5. For hunting, I used falconry. A pretty fast method and much less hassle with setting up traps. Just a lot more running around, so either bring energy pots, or have high agility (60+, which you need for quests anyway).
  6. Haha, yes. Slashing weapons tend to produce more lethal wounds. A decapitation is an instant death, a well-placed slash across the chest is too. With a stabbing weapon, you need great precision, knowledge of human body and quick reaction (quicker than for a sword or a sabre). Of course, spears have greater reach, but in 1-on-1 combat, that is negated by the weapon's bulkiness. exactly. this does not apply in runescape. its just a game so everything should be as fair as possible. You used real-life examples, so I retorted with real-life examples. In a game, it's up to the developers. They seem to favor slashing weapons, can't do much about it, it's personal preference. and why cant a person have great str in runescape? right now about 68500+ ppl have 99 str. a spear might not be easy to maneuver, but it should still be powerful. there isnt a stat in runescape called "maneuverability" or something. spears should be concentrated towards stab and a bit of slash. have you ever seen people in war trying to maul people with a spear?? At the same level of strength, slashing weapons are still more effective. What is better with huge strength, a powerful blunt blow, or a slash that nearly cuts the enemy in two? Never rely on wikipedia for facts. Just an advise : As to the Chinese and spears, like I said, spears are a decent weapon, just not in the sort of combat that Runescape has to offer.
  7. I think it's just a coincidence that the most powerful and versatile weapons are slash. I mean, Jagex could as easily have made some kind of "abyssal maul" or something, but they made the whip, and it had to have slashing damage. As to the thing about medieval weaponry - in 1 on 1 combat, all kinds of cutting blades were the most powerful. A spear isn't as easy to maneuver, same applies to axes/hammers. For a blunt weapon to be effective, the person had to had great strength. In army-on-army, halberds and spears (mostly versus cavalry) were used as well. Axes were not just axes as we know them today. Most of them had this special [bleep]e on the backside which was used to pierce armor. However, the main hand-to-hand weapons have always been slashing weapons. Even the Romans used a type of short sword called "gladius".
  8. I think the mournings should end after the second part. You can't mourn forever, you know. I somehow think that the next Elven quest will be called something completely different.
  9. Hmm... faster is not always better. He asked for the "best" thing to make, not the "fastest". By flatpacking tables, it may be somewhat slower, but at the same time it's much cheaper, and in this case even brings a small profit.
  10. MEP 1 started with Sheep Herder. And MEP 2 started with MEP 1. Which started with Sheep Herder.
  11. Why not dinner table flatpacks? Assuming you have done all Hard tasks on Fremennik province, you can get *some* gold back. By the way, how much is returned? A percentage of material cost? GE price?
  12. I for one will be kinda glad if they develop the Elemental Workshop questline deeper. I liked the first 2 quests so far, and it has a great potential. Remember, MEP2 started with Sheep Herder ;)
  13. Well, I am only around 500 green dragonhides away from level 66, and I don't see myself training much crafting after that, unless it's for a diary (which I also like doing, like quests). I will probably go around smithing arrowheads. Here's to hope there is a demand for 100k arrowheads...
  14. I smell a possibility of the coveted Soul Altar : It's a Body Door, not a Soul one... Mind, Body and Soul are all united in the human. If there is a mind area and a body area, a soul area is to be expected.
  15. Ehh, I've never even touched SC yet. And ain't making mithril bolts loss of money? I don't have much to begin with, and I've yet to train up herblore, crafting and magic.
  16. I smell a possibility of the coveted Soul Altar :
  17. If you check my stats and my signature picture, you may guess that I'm a bit of a quester (270 QP). Only 2 quests left to do, namely Rocking out and While Guthix Sleeps. For that I, sadly, need to raise the goddamn Crafting and Smithing. Now, while Crafting is set (Making green d'hide bodies, alching), I am not too sure about Smithing. I am not very good with making money, and I have only about 2.5 million in bank (Yes, I do know I can make a decent profit with my skillset, but it's BORING!). What I was thinking of, was smelt around 9.8 thousand iron bars (with ROF's) and then turn them into iron knives. This'd be around 48-49 thousand knives. What I am wondering is: 1. Will it be profitable? According to my calculations the profit is ~65 gold per bar, but I am not too sure: Iron ore: -100 gold per bar ROF's: -1470/140 = -10.5 gold per bar Iron knives: ~35*5 = 175 gold per bar Which makes it 64.5 gold per bar profit Is this calculation more or less correct? 2. Is it possible to sell a whoppong 50k iron knives at GE without too much trouble? I'd understand it if there was a very large supply for the thing, higher than demand. I don't have any iron knives to test this with per se.
  18. Out from your (updated) message set, I see it as: if you have pink text all the way, it will eventually lead to a low level reward. If you have green text from the beginning, it will lead to a green reward. But! I see no blue text before the last dialog box! Does it mean that blue text (i.e. highest reward) may follow even green or pink conversation? Just a bit confusing.
  19. "Do I feel lucky? Well..." The hell I do! D left half the day before yesterday *points at sig*, as well as 6x rune scimitars and a half key. All that from 120 fire giants. Yesterday, I went to Cave Horrors. I managed to kill only 15-18 before I ran out of food. But in those 18 kills I have gotten a black mask and a clue scroll. The clues are not very good for me nowadays, but anyway... "Sweet lady luck smiles!"
  20. Both stew and tea are acceptable for raising your construction level if you want to build rooms. Only the crystal saw has restrictions (you only get +3 con to build items that REQUIRE a use of a saw).
  21. inside the stronghold, right beside the 3 troll generals (in the side corridor) there is a ladder leading to the roof.
  22. All right, I am 1 quest point away from achieving my lovely quest cape. The only problem is, this 1 qp is that ugly long bone wishlist from Rad and Bone man. Usually, this is no problem for me. I collected 20 different bones in about 3 hours, and all was good. Untill I started hunting cave goblins for a skull, that is... I am on goblins for over 1:30 hours and still not a skull! I have even got a clue from them! I know, I know, it's a matter of luck. But how do you explain the fact that most other creatures dropped their bone withing 5 first kills, while my goblin kill count is well over 100? I first went to the dogershuun mines, thinking that it was the place. Then I found out that there are those lvl 3 ones in Lumbridge Caves, and I went there. Still, I have killed tens of both kinds, with no results. So, could someone give me a tip as to what to do? I'm sick of killing the lvl 3 8 hp creatures! Does ring of wealth help with the specific bone drops? [EDIT]: If it is of any importance, I have exactly 20 bones in my bank. Do I have to turn in some first, perhaps? [EDIT]: D'uh #-o it was stuck away in my bank all along, heh. No more help needed.
  23. Well, I've heard hunter is pretty easy to get to 99, and red chinchompas can give off a pretty hefty sum. The other side of this, is that I've heard chinchompas are always crowded (exactly because they're easy xp and money).
  24. We already told you, didn't we? Buy lots of tarromins, do Shades of Mort'ton quest, burn LOTS of fires, collect ashes, make Serum 207. The cheapest way so far. After you hit level (35?) at which you can make prayer potions, you can start making them, still losing money (Ranarr + snape grass + vial = 7000+400(500)+200=7600(7700), P pot (3) = 7500), but gaining lots of experience.
