  1. Go for shortbow all the way. As people here said, shortbow is faster, while longbow has more range. Since range doesn't matter much unless in certain situations, I say go for a shortbow.
  2. aoe, you're wrong in some parts: First of all, there are 2 ways to kill the scarab and BOTH are plausible and almost equally effective. If you plan on meleeing it, get on your best magic protection outfit (dragonhide), take with you your trusty ddp++ or whip or whatever, a few prayer pots, an antipoison and food. Remember this: when you are just running towards the scarab, switch on Magic Protect, as the scarab can hit you 1-2 times while you run. When you engage him in melee, switch immediately to melee protect. When he starts summoning servants, watch for which attack type they use - kill the ranger and the mage, don't bother with melee. Remember, they have only 20 hp and lousy defense! oh, adn one more thing, turn OFF auto retaliate! This is because you DON'T wanna go out of scarab's melee range chasing for one of it's servants after you eat or pot or whatever. As for maging, it, I never tried, but I suggest you put on some magic robes, use protect from Magic, and kill the range servant at once (since you have awful range protect). Don't bother with melee if you have a safespot, or bother if you don't. Mage the scarab to death. I believe this method might have more control over the battle, as you don't run around like mad.
  3. Thanks for the answers! What about the speed of salamanders? Although, it's sad one has to be in melee range for the slamander to attack.
  4. Barbarian village, between falador and varrock, has a trapdoor in the middle. Go down the trapdoor to enter Stronghold of Security.
  5. Well hey there, fellow tip.iters! I have a couple of questions I really wish I knew answers for myself, but unfortunately, I don't : First, a question about Lunar Diplomacy. Right now, I'm 56 mining (powermining at dogershuun mines right now to 57). But I find mining so boring I dunno whether I'll be able to train to 60. So, my question is: is it possible to start the quest using stat boosters to get mining to 60? (From what I've heard, the NPC that initiates the quest checks one's stats first). In this context, how much more effective is the granite quarry (assuming I have at least half inventory waterskins) compared to dogershuun mining-and-selling at levels 57-59 mining? Then, a couple of questions about salamanders: 1. I've read (at least in the huner guides) that for a salamander to become a ranged weapon, one must feed it 15 herb tars. The question is: does one have to continue feeding it tar after each 15 shots? What a waste of herbs if yes #-o 2. What is the speed of salamanders compared to other ranged weapons? 3. What is the damage capability of salamanders compared to other ranged weapons? 4. What is the range of salamanders? 5. If #1 is false, how much more effective (or less effective) is salamander range training than bow-and-arrow training? 6. Are the salamanders tradeable? (Hehe, don't even know that!) P.S. Okay, I know the questions about salamanders belong in the other subforum, but as I didn't want to make 2 topics, I combined them.
  6. Couldn't agree more, krisc! After having turned falador into some kind of semi-heaven, with the new respawn point, whitewashed stone and all, it would be cool to see Varrock come in contrast. After all, there are few really spooky cities (Exept the Sanguin region (sp?)), and those are not visited alot.
  7. Looks pretty much like the intro to Act 5 in Diablo 2 expansion for me. At least that's the first association I had rom the picture...hmm...shall we see D2-like graphics? :-k (kidding)
  8. No-go as the black knights. They're not actually black, but rather dark-dark-grey. And didn't they update the guards slightly? It's harder to make matching clothes. Offtopic: Psst, Stilev, what anime is your sig from? I wanna watch it! =P~
  9. Varrock bank. "Hey guys, even if you make one mistake in pass, it will block, look *********!"
  10. My RSN is pretty lame, I wish I could change it... Anyway, about 8 years ago, when I got my first ever PC, my uncle came and configured it. Since I was pretty good at school (then) and had only top marks, he called me "professor". I know it's pretty lame, but the nick clang to me, and I have used it all the time until recently, where I started using my real name as a nick (Viktor, Viktor_Berg). Of course, the nick "Professor" was already taken, and I didn't want to take a nick with numbers, so I chose this one. Game_Proffy, which I'm NOT. Sad story, huh?
  11. The good thin about the quest cape, it shows that you love quests (which I do : ). A 99 skillcape shows either that you play really long (assuming you didn't devote your WHOLE time to one skill, but developed them equally), or you're a dedicated no-lifer who got this 99 in a few days'/weeks' worth. The quest cape, meanwhile, shows that you like to pass your time in Runescape by various ways - combat, skilling, and laughing! All or almost all the new quests hold some kinds of jokes in them - not always amusing, but some are truly spectacular! Phew, that was long...
  12. Guys, wold you please stop quotinc the same picture? Really! At least delete the IMG tags when you do!
  13. Hmm... some of the most essential ones are as follows (not in order of priority!): Lost City - to gain access to Dragon long and DD/DDP++ Druidic Ritual - to be able to train herblore Priest in Peril - to be able to access the whole east of Runescape - the Mort myre. Also, you could slowly start going along the quest line concerning Elves: Biohazard, Sheep Herder, Underground pass and so on so forth. Also, I think this belngs in Help and Advice. [EDIT]: wolfen beat me to Druidic Ritual
  14. That will never happen - unless the majority of community totally loses it's interest in discontinued items. The fact is, to reach the equilibrium, the two must come closer together. The fact is, it won't happen until prices reach for the items to cost 2.147 billion. Demand always increases, as in new players come in the game. While supply is constant, and even decreases, due to all the ways for the items to dissapear (durial321 massacre, anyone?). Therefore, the price will never stop to grow untill it hits the natural limit. After that, the prices will be like "Selling cracker 2.1b + 100xfull guth", or something like that.
  15. Plus, don't forget, normal seeds can be gotten from setting some workers on SEEDS after completing "Royal Trouble". Sheesh. EDIT: I checked this picture in Photoshop with strong zoom. I'm no expert, but aside from the added part on the bottom (probably because there was not enough place on one page), there are no image alterations.
  16. I guess you're supposed to watch the video using those special red-and-blue glasses. Also, some comments say you can use sunglasses with only 1 glass.
  17. That would indeed be, but would also be awesome! Your name is "Egg Trader", and you have traded a normal egg for an easter egg! That's what the whole thing is about! But, anyway, being more serios: good luck on your journey towards the full rune. Do you have any intention to make Egg Trader a member?
  18. I'm sorry, peeps. It looks like I've missed on several very serious points in my guide. I promise I will update (if I don't forget it, which I tend to do) this guide. However, for that I need a few things: A crystal bow. Currently I'm saving for Guthans (yes yes, just guthans!), and once I buy that, I'll be kinda thin on cash. 70 range. I'd say it's not much, but considering my level of boredom tolerance (low!), I find killing 360-370 blue dragons, which are always crowded even in Ogre Enclave a bit "meh"... Urge to play Runescape yet again. Right now, after training my Runecrafting up to 50 from 44, and Crafting to 61 from 56, I've became quite bored of playing Runescape, and so I'm currently in various games from Half-Life series: Sven-Coop, Gmod, CSS etc. (This seems to be the most important point as to why I won't upgrade my guide in a while right now. Sorry again, folks.) P.S. I'm glad this was moved to AOW Never expected it :
  19. My choises (in this priority): 1. Ability to be able to cure myself from aging, diseases, poisoning, radiation et. etc. by simply eating food. 2. A dragonstone. The heck, a new material is discovered! Amazing crystalline structure, the purple natural colour, unbelievable hardness (harder than diamond). 3. 99 magic and unlimited runes. Teleports. 'Nuff said. 4. 99 ranging. I recently found that archery irl is pretty fun!
  20. Clever thinking, Latino! I didn't even imagine one could use this knowledge for getting the fire cape >.<
  21. No such monster exists. No monster drops dust runes in the first place :XD:
  22. Only organisms such as worms etc are "ASexual" (I think thats the term). Good luck finding something the size of a dragon that is Asexual. You listen in science more. Much easier, "Hermaphrodite". I believe it's just that JAGeX overlooked this matter, and didn't expect to have such pervert players, who'd look for the biological father of the blue dragons :XD: Anyway, my share: Already mentioned, Miner Magnus: "He's mining his own business". I know it's mentioned, but it's so hilarious! Also, near the "Zogre Flesh Eater" quest start. Guard ogre: "An ogre that guards".
  23. I just whipped the scarab to death with melee protect. Although the mage and range servans did hit me nice round 20's. What I found out is you should SWITCH OFF Auto retailiate. Not once have I found my character running for a minion after eating a shark/drinking a pot. Frustrating!!! That actually wasted my food, because I moved away fromt he scarab and he started hitting me with his magic. I nearly died once! Phew... Still, a relatively easy fight. I had much mroe trouble in the Haunted Mines, by the way :XD:
