  1. So, basically the Knights who say Ni are in for it. I really do wonder, if there was a deadly plague that was transferred through contact with the RSOF, how much would the average IQ of humanity go up...
  2. Hmm, the story is ok, though not really to my tastes. The guide- meh. The random article was pretty good- I would have to disagree on the entertainment value of the some of the randoms, but hey, to each their own. One thing I really would like to see is a shortening of randoms, and not getting them in certain areas. The amount of hunting stuff I've lost to kidnapping randoms is very annoying, and having to redo half of the Grand Tree quest because I got an evil chicken while facing the demon, retreated to have the evil chicken go and had the demon go as well, then had to regather a ton of stuff I'd dropped for bank space to get back in the hatch >.< Also, perhaps retiring the clothing randoms once you get the set, with the option to keep getting them if you like that random, as well as an option to send random loot straight to the bank instead of having to drop it.
  3. No it is just like the 5 most common constants are R, S, T, L, and N and the most common vowel is E in English. You can get lists of the most common words (a, an, and, the, etc.) This is just one more list type thing that people have done studies on. I doubt that was what they used, this seemed more rs-specific. Zezima, anyone?
  4. Money should take effort to get. And I highly doubt Jagex intended to add the ability to manipulate the prices so easily with the grand exchange, I would think it'd be more the challenge of how can they stop artificial price changes without stopping natural price changes. Price manipulating does not seem to go with the "spirit of the game". It takes a lot more effort to think things through, find the best investment opportunities, pick the right time to sell off investments, find more and repeat, than it does to find one method of skilling or killing for cash and mindlessly doing that over and over again. According to your standards, people IRL that work in skilled jobs (like people working for Jagex, funnily enough) should make a lot less money than people that just stack shelves at their local supermarket, because they aren't "working for it" and it's not as much "effort". Excuse everyone else for using the brains they have... And really, stop trying to make all merchanting, including investing, out to be the same as price manipulation, it just makes you look clueless. How, exactly? The point of old merchanting was about supplying items to people who needed them, albeit at a premium. Much like the difference between wholesale and retail, it was a matter of convenience. The new style is just buying and selling items depending on the price they go for, you aren't screwing them out of any money. It's just the going rate, after all. For solo, anyways. Clan is a bit different. The point of old merchanting was about making lots of money for yourself, supplying items to people just happened to be how you did it. The wholesale and retail comparison only works for one type of pre-grand exchange merchanting, the one where you say buy rune hatchets from a rune smith and then sell to other people, which was by large the least profitable type of merchanting I would think. Even if you are just buying at the lowest and reselling at the highest, you are still screwing people out of money. You are screwing the people that actually need/want that item out of the possible of paying less for what they need. Really? So you force them to buy the items at your price? After all, they can just spend the time to get the items at other prices, it's not like you just have people who are magically incapable of buying except from you.

Clan is a bit different. merchenting technically happens irl too... ever heard of the dollar store or pound store? they probably buy their items at 1/4 the price they sell at. *Facepalm* Did you even read what I wrote? Old style merchanting was essentially the same as wholesale/retail.

  7. "Too many incorrect logins from your adress. Please wait 5 minutes before trying again."
  8. Strange, isn't it? Seems like Jagex will never be able to please us, no matter what. #-o  Strange indeed, the good ol' "grass is always greener on the other side" The truth is, its not, its mud Instead of just saying "Yay, now there aren't all those people with easy passwords, things are safer, go Jagex, hooray, sunshine and rainbows all round!!!", consider for a moment why people use those easy passwords. Not because they think, "Omg, awesome password, woot!" when it isn't, but because they don't want to bother with (or just can't) remembering a long/hard password and typing it in. So Jagex bans 500 easy passwords, the people that had them say "Omg, wtf, now I have to change it", and can't be bothered thinking up a hard one they can easily remember, so they just use another easy one. Either they haven't been hacked before (note hacked, not scammed: if scammed, it really doesn't matter how hard your password is), or they have and just don't give a stuff. Either way, they are unlikely to change their ways just on one warning, especially given there are already all those warnings in the SoS and the login text, so the update might make a very small number of people get strong passwords. Of those, very few would be going to be hacked anyway, given how comparitively rarely it occurs. So essentially, they've just made a lot of hassle for people with weak passwords, especially those with noob accs or w/e who don't really care if it gets hacked, for a fairly dubious reward, coupled with making the passwords of people who have other common weak passwords not in the list more unsafe. Great work there. [/wall of text]
  9. A) The runescape gods, the existing pictures, the study decorations, etc. B) Anyone who can walk across water and through walls and unreleased areas. And don't start with those black space glitches >.< I don't see the connection between my post and yours , hehe. The only game I've played with a real round world was Populous 3, and that was back in 1999 : RS is FLAT until someone walks in one straight-lined direction and goes from point A to point A without retracing their steps :D You can't go pretty much any long distance in RS in one straight line direction, there is too much terrain and too many buildings.

  11. As soon as I've finished rigging up the last few hundred doomsday devices and then arranged the- Oh, Runescape, right. When I either lose interest (if it hasn't happened yet, it probably won't happen) or lose the opportunity, though I don't predict that happening any time soon. Or when it dies, of course, though that's much like the others.
  12. Unless Jagex knows everyones names, they can keep theirs.
  13. Are you calling me stupid ! If you downloaded a suspicious file, didn't run antivirus software, or entered your usename and password anywhere but runescape.com (the only 3 things that could have happened), you did something stuipd ;) Am I the only one who finds it slightly amusing that he misspelled "stupid"? It's dyslexia, what can I say... Oops?
  14. Dead for me too Guess that supports the "This was just a random-thing-I-decided-to-do-because-I-had-too-much-spare-time-and-we-get-in-trouble-if-we-don't-look-like-we're-doing-anything update" theory. no this is the, "advising-people-so-they-don't-get-hacked-and-lose-all-their-items" theory. my advise for anyone, use letters and numbers like jagex say, have like 2 letters of a word like, big man jumped is BIMAJU, or just a letter from each word to make a phrase with letters jumbled in like, I hate farming because it fails and i am only level 86 is, IHFBITAIAMOL86I.. just my advise anyway.. Keyloggers, trust scams > brute forcing, oh my!

  16. WTF was the point of that. Sometimes I wonder whether they actually think about what they are doing before they do it. I wonder when it will need nerfing? Also, is it just mycomputer, or did the update icon for this one die?
  17. OMG! New skill will be gunshooting!!!! Besides, why would there be TNT or dynamite in RS. Gunpowder makes more sence if you look at it from a historical point. Especially since we have cannons, and we made the gunpowder in a quest (well, got some stuff for that goblin chef to make it).
  18. Nice one. Perfect example of what happens when people set out looking for hints.
  19. I saw your thread on the Tzhaar/Predator link before, but I can't remember if I posted that the "Samuel Scourduel Part II references." are actually (also?) references to Gullivers travels.
  20. The timer's fine. The only change I would make is perhaps just a tad longer. (2 minutes?) Why? The rules are against being away from the keyboard. So you hit the log out button when you go to feed the dog. Thats all very well, but it's a hassle when you are trying to read forums. That said, lengthening it would really mess up people whose windows close down, and need to log back quickly to grab stuff if they die. Pee faster
  21. Congratulations, you just advanced a necromancy level!
  22. As others have said, you can simply tape or weight a key down in order to prevent being logged out, so this is already possible. Also, do you really think that 2 people, even with little to nothing on, would survive in a pvp hotspot for overnight without dying? He said single-way.
  23. I would, except that a) I still seem to log off unless I actually press the keys, ie release pressure and apply again instead of holding down, and B) my laptop keyboard is a hassle to rig.
  24. Actually, making it longer would be a problem, as it would make it take longer to get back in when your window closes accidentaly. That said, a 5-min "Forum/bathroom/etc" pause that you can disable when you get back would be nice. Edit: Wow, that was some fancy irony. Moments after I posted this, I changed between tabs and my window just closed. Is someone from here hacking my computer?
  25. How do you know? What evidence is there of this? Clearly that tiny dragon thingy wasn't a true dragon, but what points to it being an elder dragon? It was a fairy dragon, wasn't it? Edit: ah, it is named K'klik, it is the last of the fairy dragons, and it's examine text is: "Could this be one of the elder dragons?"
