You know it is ineffective how? What's wrong with positive peer pressure? (In the school setting at least) I should of added, in my experience. Granted, it won't be the same for everybody, but nothing is.

If parents think physical punishment is the most effective way to deter behaviour, then I pity them more than a child. Not only is it cruel (when used to excess), but it is ineffective.

I fear that'll be the end for Big Jan. Hamstrings, whether pulled or torn, take at least 3 weeks. Then he'd have to get back to fitness. It's a shame for him because of the horrible season of injury he's had and bad for the Czechs as he's their talisman.
