American of Irish origin, and I live in Texas to boot. They were malicious killings, and they are actually serving time in a prison for mental cases. Our county had a huge debate over the issue of animal rights and it went to the Texas Supreme Court.

I am Irish. Some kind of meat and potatoes make up practically every meal in my diet. Animals are granted natural rights. If someone goes out and starts slaughtering animals with a machete whether they be cat or armadillo, it's wrong. In fact, my local police force busted 7 teens who were going around killing cats. It's been 10 years and they are barely halfway through thier jail sentence. As for lab mice and such? As long as they are given painless treatment, I do not mind. I would rather a horrific side-effect of a new drug happen to a lab mouse rather than a hobo who needed money.

Hah, I guess I am halfway between the extremes. I have fun on computers, and have fun outside everyday. In 2.5 years, I will be teaching history and high school athletics. Not so pale, not so smart. I'll let my kids play games if they want to, but I will be strict on what they play and watch. That, and I will take them out and have some fun in the sun. But yeah, some kids today are too spoiled in that regard.

You have to note that if we detect a launch towards us, we won't have time to program the guidance computers of our own missiles. We have targets selected for lots of countries, in case of the worst. One missile is not pointed at just one target.

Pay off my student loans, buy a new Saturn, get a nice house for my family (by nice I mean a normal one) and put the money in a secret account with high interest and use it to pay for my kid's school. Eventually I would buy our old farm back and build a house there.

Dolphins can communicate much furthar unaided than we can. Dolphins can communicate on the interweb? To thier friends on land? Wow, try reading before responding. My point was that we are communicating on a network with people across the world with no restrictions (sans those we put into place eg censors). A dolphin might be able to cry for help from miles away, but can they communicate with another dolphin 4000 miles away ON LAND! And without effort, I might add.

Really? I don't mean to be picky but I didn't think that was the case anymore. As far as I know there are seven countries with nuclear weapons, the US, Russia, the UK, France, China, India, Pakistan and North Korea. Out of those i'd say only the first 5 have the capabilities to deliver them over a long enough range to target countries on a global scale (ICBMs and submarines with ballistic capabilities). And ironically they're the five permanent members of the UN security council. I know that doesn't mean anything but I thought since the cold war countries only had nuclear weapons delivery strategies developed to attack their "allies" in a theoretical sense. I could be wrong but it's just what I thought. China has ICBM's, you forget that. It's practically an "Ice War." You are also forgetting countries with medium and low-range nuclear cruise missles, which foremost of all includes our ally Britain. Many other nations have this capability. It would not be hard to design an oil tanker with missile racks and shower the US with complete destruction, while ensuring that the Strategic Air Command has absolutely nothing to retaliate on. You can't break down nuclear power solely on the basis of ICBM capabilities. As stated before, Israel has racks upon racks of atomic bombs that can be delivered by aircraft.

The day we explore the stars, I hope that world hunger has been solved, peace is everywhere, and Earth is truly a paradise. Until that day happens, I don't really care about space travel. We need to deal with our terrestrial problems before dealing with the extraterrestrial ones.
