  1. They contradict each other from their bases. We can and do live together, we don't have much choice, but working together is irrational. The atheist-theist discussion isn't only about evolution. It basicly is only about God, when evolution is used by atheists to prove themselves correct, and theists just say that's not true. It's essentially nothing more than a pissing match, with the stakes being who can say "I told you so." Both sides of the argument (read: intelligent sides of the argument, not the less educated bigots...on both sides) have enough common ground where unless you specifically bring up the origins of man there is little to no disagreement.
  2. Haha, just saying. Everyone is taught from a young age that alcohol is bad, but they still abuse it like idiots in those years anyways.
  3. Glad to hear it! The body is a strong defense if you can keep it strong!

  4. Wait, you mean the bikini pictures are incoming?! :o

  5. Thanks, love. I really miss your accent and pestering you.

  6. N_Odie, I am pleased and impressed by the quality of your post.
  7. While evilbible.com takes it's passages out of the Bible, it often deliberately takes them out of context and without regard for the theme of that passage or surrounding verses. It's also again worth saying that four THOUSAND years of history between Leviticus and the current day make for differences in opinion regarding slavery. Those attitudes have changed in the past millenia, and Christianity has changed to reflect the status quo. Modern Christianity, no doubt, is abhorrent to slavery (and has been for several hundred years).
  8. Oh Jesus, reading that reminded me of when I graded undergrad papers in grad school. I could be Carl Sagan and I'd still give that a C- for effort. It's not entirely wrong, nor is it right. It's something someone made with passion, but that passion has interfered and damaged their credibility. Speaking of which, it's a shame that both Bush's and Obama's education plans overemphasize mathematics and science, but almost completely ignore other disciplines. In this particular scenario we see that the language arts and formation of argument from historical sources that an English or History class should endow (when in actual practice they merely convey spelling and Jeopardy answers) are slack. Dude, magekllr. I see a lot of "friends" or "professors" or "experts" in your posts. Can we see some of you? Again, it was never intended for the United States to be a Christian nation. Only one that exemplified the ideals put forth by Christ. People on both sides just did not seem to get this. There is a difference between having a core set of beliefs than acting on them. Does someone need to be Christian to be Christlike? No. Ask (or read) Ghandi.
  9. Any law not given by God but given by a nation was acceptable. The Bible does not have any stance on slavery, and it was the norm of the day. However, Christians have always been anti-slave considered in the early Church, many Christians would be captured by Romans and sold into slavery or forced to fight in arenas. The most vocal abolitionists throughout the past 250 years have been Christians and a Christian movement actually succeeded in abolishing slavery throughout the British Empire (see the film, Amazing Grace. The song was written in commemoration of the event).
  10. What the hell? Homosexuality has been around for just about all time, and many times in history it was considered perfectly fine (if not encouraged) in mainstream culture to practice it. Many influential people had homosexual relationships. Napoleon when he invaded Africa had a feminine looking boy travel with him because it was "too dangerous for a woman." It's most certainly not "new" or a "trend." The only real danger of homosexual parents is that you lose the balance of masculine-feminine influence on the child that is fairly precarious to begin with. This is crucial during the first decade or so of life when a child is constructing the world around them and also crucial in the second decade as they build an identity. Gay parents can get this right, homosexual parents have most definitely gotten it wrong over the years. Gender confusion is key here. If the kid wants to be gay, they can, but they need to fully realize if they are male or female to fit into society properly. Again, this problem can happen regardless of who your parents are because mommy or daddy didn't spend enough time with you and the other parent overcompensated. It happens. There is a slightly higher risk of it happening in a same-sex marriage. The child should spend time with a grandparent of the opposite sex to account for that, however. As for the US being a Christian nation. It was a nation built for all religions (or lack thereof) but created with Christian ideals. Leaders should fall back on their values when making decisions, but not force them on everyone else. It's a good concept, but people have and will screw it up.
  11. Granted they are not affiliated with the universal Church, nor does the Church want them to be. As a learned Christian I have so much bone to pick with that group. Someone really should challenge them because their rights are not protected by the First. Let's also remember that extremism in religion is like a bell curve. The numbers at the extremes are the lowest. It's a crime to compare the whole to it's smallest parts. The thing is, the more moderate religious groups are led by principles that have them do good for others and not seek the public eye for it. These extremists preach hatred and are very vocal, so they are what people see. It's very unfortunate.
  12. Preaching to the choir.... and ABC, your right there are no girls. I have a penis. Hahahahahahah Oh hi socc. I found you. I should put this on SODB, you trap you. :P Good picture BTW. I'm rarely on rs anymore, I just like OT now so go for it! What's silly is that I've known you for years in Runescape and just now realize that you are female :P. Which is actually a cool thing!
  13. There are no gnomes in GW2, either. The Asura were in Guild Wars: Eye of the North (technically GW1) and are more like teddy bears. And they don't use technology. They prefer the ordered sciences of alchemy and golemancy as opposed to the chaotic arcanes like fire, air, wind and earth. They are essentially the highest order of mages. The technology oriented race in GW2 is the Charr who shunned religion and ancestor worship in order to move forward. They have guns, tanks, factories, and such. The Asura's only real technology is the Gate system which is magic anyways. All of their golems and flying cities and whatnot is magic. If you are looking for a WoW comparison the Asura would be the blood elves and the Sylvari would be the Night Elves.
  14. I wouldn't jump to that conclusion. Either you're unlucky enough to be searched (if they do random searches) or you're part of a racial profile that the airport security follows. Even in the second case, it doesn't necessarily mean they're picking on you because they think you're inferior - they just think you're statistically more likely to be a terrorist. It's unfortunate it has to be this way, but they're not exactly picking on you for no reason. Just to add to this, don't take it personally. A few years back I had a very deep tan from outdoor activities (I am white with native American ancestry) and I often was mistaken for being Indian (shut up Rba). I was selected for random screening several times but once my tan faded I can pass through with no problems. It's just a red light that goes off in their heads and is something that has to be checked. It's sad that it's come to profiling, but that's better than most other solutions. They also do have random elements and will draw anyone out, regardless of skin color or religion.
  15. The problem is not how much money we throw at our own airports, it's the security at the foreign airports that is the problem in this situation. They can't afford full size x-ray machines in Uganda, and Holland might not have the same standards of security as an American airport. It really was a case of the security guys dropping the ball, but this is about all that can be done until something better is figured out.
  16. IRC with a dice roll script? That's about as close to real D&D over the internet I could imagine you can get. Granted I've never played it, but it makes sense. No worries about lag either.
  17. I friended you purely because of this post, of which I am in total agreement. It goes for anyone who makes these stupid names, regardless of race. Don't do it!
  18. I prefer the blonde as well but you alsways look great :D

  19. FYI, the healthcare is not all that great. Unless you are a Congressman or a postal worker, government health insurance sucks. So much so that a Congressman (or postal worker, lest they...go postal) has a completely DIFFERENT insurance company for their government insurance than the military which has a company that is known for being crappy in the first place. And the educational reimbursement is not *that* grand. It would get you into any state school you wanted, however (which is about 40-60,000 dollars for a four year degree). The pension, though, is great. As crappy as the medical insurance is, access to USAA benefits is perhaps the best retirement plan you could ever have, and only takes one term of service to obtain!
  20. Sure it's all a bunch of bullcrap. But that doesn't mean that going green isn't a bad thing. Not only does it protect the environment and make us healthy, but it lines our wallets with green as well. The motivation was made up (and Al Gore should give back the damn peace prize) but I think we can start thinking about making the world better for better reasons than saving our own [wagon].
  21. [hide]They were both killing each other at frist, then Shephard turned on the 141 and all hell broke lose. Its a really great story.[/hide] [hide] But why was he fighting Makarov if they were working together? I don't think Mak betrayed him to Price until after the fighting started.[/hide] [hide]I was under the impression that Makarov and his his men were under attack because the General was cleaning out the house.[/hide] [hide]From what I understood, Shepard was not working with Makarov, he was constantly working against him. However, since he lost 3000 men to Zakhaev in MW1 he felt a need to personally deal with Makarov himself when the President ordered the task to Task Force 141. Therefore he had all of 141 killed so that he could deal with Makarov and then take the glory for himself, thus redeeming his respect.[/hide]
  22. Actually, Osama will likely be sent to a life sentence at Leavenworth with no hope of release. Or survival among the inmates.
  23. Define irony. They rape and murder men, women, and children. They cut off heads of prisoners and mutilate corpses and then proudly display them. And the world simply looks on. One of our guys gets rowdy and smacks one of them in the face. The world goes into outrage. I understand that hitting a prisoner is wrong and all that, but it's nothing compared to what happens to their prisoners. I would charge the offending soldier with dereliction of duty and punish him accordingly but making a huge issue out of this is wrong. Then again, there are probably many people who would gladly pay to punch the guy in the face, so whatever.
  24. You do realize the Javelin in real life is designed to do exactly that, right?
  25. I don't know what you guys are arguing about. This is my first COD since the first one to play and I thought the storyline was fairly exhilirating and the online play is fairly fun. Sure I die alot, but I do a lot of good for my team (KD ratios are for sillies!).
