the price of chins...
I've cleaned up the last little bit of this thread as it's gone way off topic. Neither side is going to budge so let's just drop it and discuss the economics side of red chins, not whether it's worth hunting them or not; that's something for the help and advice forum.

Help with new computer
You'll need to reinstall programs, reset preferences and all that on your desktop. For copying your files over, if they aren't too big and you have a fairly big usb you could use that, otherwise perhaps a crossover ethernet cable. (Not too sure about this since I've never had to connect this way) I have a lenovo laptop right now and it's the best laptop I've ever owned. Might just depend on the model though. *shrug*

01-Dec-2011 Behind the Scenes - December
I noticed that too, seems like the Jagex marketing team is going full force and I guess you can't really blame them. F2P still gets some fixes, a graphics update and an event though which is pretty nice. They don't have to be restricted in marketing members to be the number one free game, they just have to respect and look out for their free community as well.

01-Dec-2011 Behind the Scenes - December
It's amazing how the smallest updates are making me the most excited for this month. :D Toolbelt, moneybag, and chat updates are going to be great.

Tip.It Times - 27th November 2011
The referenced page that number was gotten from lists 1M+ subscribers and 8.5M+ active accounts. How is it misrepresentation? The numbers are very outdated. It states there are 1+ million subscribing accounts when we know from the highscores that there are only roughly 600k right now. Either way the letter was a good read with a lot of points I agreed with.

It's not a "free" MMORPG anymore.
Taking away F2P highscores doesn't help pay staff, which is what's being complained about. I agree that F2P don't need updates but taking away existing services and then giving a bad excuse for it is something that's wrong.

On Another Note...
H&A moves so fast already I really wouldn't want a subforum cluttering up the top of the page. Same with General Discussion, we already have 2 subforums and a bunch of stickies there. I know the events forum isn't very active but the only places that it could be made a subforum under are busy enough as it is and the events forum is something we need to have even if it's not used often. I'd prefer just to keep this one where it is.

Thanks for looking into this! :)

Seeking Monster Hunters For New Team! - Spots Filled
Monster Hunting + Minigames would be a good way to go for the TET. Also hosting events at different times may be something to consider as not everyone can always make the 9:00pm GMT on Saturdays.

Bestiary/Shops Landing Pages
Apologies if something like this is being worked on but I was wondering if the shops/bestiary landing pages would be updated to a similar format as the items database is with "Recent Entries" and "Most Viewed Entries". It would be a lot more functional and create a more uniform design across all the databases.

So basically what your saying is since you didn't give damn about highscores when you were F2P that automatically makes it fact for everyone else? Not everyone wants to play the game the way you do and generalizing an opinion on why we shouldn't be complaining just off of that doesn't bring up a very convincing argument. What you are failing to realize is that a great majority of the posters in this thread (myself included) are in the exact category you are telling us to listen to. Most of us are current players who have been through F2P and we feel it's wrong because given our past experience, we have found high scores to have been a beneficial part of F2P that contributes to the overall game's community and design.

Question about Photoshop versions and licensing
Why not write down your key code and do a fresh install of that version of Photoshop? Chances are that will fix your problem.

Yeah because if your a member and you botted that's A-OK for you to be on the highscores! Really fair. :/ Correct me if I'm wrong but if I'm reading this right; as a F2P player you are either dormant or a bot? I find that a bit odd. Yep. They also say that they believe in an overall community yet changes like this just segregate P2P and F2P even further by not allowing them to compare scores and compete.

Hiscores poll
Lets hope so or else Jagex will have just killed all calculators and tracking websites for f2p. I suppose on a slightly positive note this could be an opportunity for dedicated f2p highscore websites being created by fans? It is now so that if you are not ranked in the highscores your stats will still be in signatures and trackers (for example my strength level), so maybe they could just save that and those trackers would be no problem and you could even create your own highscore for f2p. Your strength level shows because Tip.it's stat signatures are designed so that if you have one unranked skill it will calculate that level based on your total level. When Jagex removed F2P highscores they'll also be removing the corresponding lite highscores for F2P which fansites use for stat tracking/signatures so F2P won't have any access to the skill levels outside of the game.

My favourites: What about F2P comparing with F2P? This is basically Jagex saying screw you to Runehead. This has nothing to do with the question asked. Jagex keeps going on and on about it being to remove dormant accounts yet they've failed to give an explanation to why they just don't make it so you have to log on once a month to be on the highscores or something similar.

But they don't give them out forever, they are usually given for a brief time, nor do you hear customers asking for bigger and better free samples and for recognition that they have 'sampled' their goods.....talk about apples and oranges! No but they do change what types of free samples they give out. That's why you can't really compare a game to a store. You don't see Jagex giving out trials of the cooking skill one day and then fletching the next. Taking away the highscores is almost like a store saying "We've scrapped our rewards point system so you lose all your points". Yes it's not an essential thing to have, but taking away something that's been available for so long is going to hurt your customer base. Also Mod Emilee posted an FAQ thread on the forums if anyone wants to read: [qfc]16-17-732-63382107[/qfc]

Never customers at all? Who were the players that made Runescape so successful in the first place? Who were the ones that spread the word around to so many people, effectively giving free advertising? Who views ads while playing to help cover part of the server costs? How many new members do you think Jagex are going to get if the F2P game slowly dwindles and dies down to nothing? F2P made the game what it was today, downplaying them is leaving out an essential part of the what the game was built around. Your comparing apples with oranges there. A better example would be; do stores give out free trials to make you buy more? Yes of course they do, it happens all the time.

You also have to think of one of the main reasons people play Runescape, to compete with other players. You take this away from F2P and new players will wonder why they are grinding away when no one will be able to see their accomplishments. How will they attract new members then?

The Hunger Games
Quite the opposite, it's very important to the story. I don't mean silly, "LOVEY KISSY GOO GOO". But her relationships with Peeta and Gale are part of her growth and evolution as a character. If you downplay that, you're seriously taking away from the story. It's one of the things that made it a very mature instance of Young-Adult literature. I only worry that the films will blow it out of proportion. Yeah I guess I downplayed it a little too much. The character relationships are important, but they shouldn't be more prominent than the conflict in Panem. I just don't want to see them trying to capitalize on the Twilight fandom by making it seem like the story revolves around these character relationships. They should just be a large supporting factor in the overall story.

The Hunger Games
If you hated the novel then yeah there's no point in seeing the movie. I think it's a bit cynical to look at it all from the perspective though. I think part of the reason the fandom is like that is because when the Twilight books finished a lot of these fans to start reading the Hunger Games and they just love the whole "Teams" thing. Honestly the romance is such a small portion of the book series and shouldn't be played up to be more than it is. Yeah she's like 21, but if her acting it good enough then I really don't mind.

It won't improve access to information, indeed the information given will, arguably, be of even less quality than the RSKB currently provides... but players will engage less in information-seeking behaviour (i.e. looking for fansites)? I'm just not following the logic behind this assumption. Sorry what I meant to say is that over time the "Official" Runescape Wiki will contain just as much information as any other fansite currently since it's only limited by player knowledge which is all that fansites have. If the exact same knowledge is available on the Runescape Official Wiki, why bother going to another site to read it? The only thing fansites will have over the wiki is calculators, stat sigs, stat tracking, and other similar tools. Many of these need highscores which ties into how removing F2P from them is just another slap in the face to fansites. (Hope this makes somewhat more sense)

I thought the whole point of a fansite was to improve access for RuneScape players to knowledge-based resources. Why, then, does it matter if these resources are found on the RuneScape website or Tip.It? If Jagex's own resources are better at educating players than ours are, how is that their responsiblity and why should they give any care to our own hypothetically dilapidated content? You seem to be advocating the denial of access to better learning materials from Jagex, simply because it's not been done by us. The problem is these materials aren't going to be from Jagex. Essentially it's going to be a fansite just like all the ones we have now except hosted by on Jagex servers. If all new players see this when they start playing will anyone even bother looking for a different resource? Jagex seems to be pushing for one big community which if successful will hurt other fansites and the communities they have built up. This won't improve game information at all, just make it so that players never have to leave runescape.com. If it was just the wiki it wouldn't be so bad but then Jagex turns around and removes high scores for F2P, removing a huge reason for them to visit fansites for stat tracking, signatures, etc.
