    Today...

That sounds really cool. I kind of want to buy one now after looking through some images on Google. :P Do you have a picture of the one you ordered?
  2. If you want to pay for antivirus I'd also say go with Kaspersky. If you want a free antivirus microsoft security essentials should do the job fine. I've heard good things about Trend Micro products and bitdefender as well but I've never personally used either of them. MSE does everything I need so I just use that on all my computers, scanning with malwarebytes and spybot occasionally.
  3. People fish for likes on youtube because they want to get a top comment spot. On the forums here a post being liked has no effect/won't make it any more visible so there's no incentive for asking for likes. If people start asking for likes too much then we could either a) remove the system or b) a moderator could send a reminder PM not to disrupt the forums with begging for likes (which would break rule 1.2 - Irritating Posting Styles/Spamming :P).
  4. Dandruff shampoo is just like normal shampoo, there's nothing icky about it unless you hate all shampoo. We have a bottle of head and shoulders anti-dandruff in our house and it looks just like normal shampoo to me. No need for all these natural products when a dandruff shampoo will most likely do the trick; there's tons of different brands available too. There's the problem right there. If he washes his hair every couple of days he wouldn't have dandruff.
  5. If you go to My Settings > Notification Options there should be a tickbox for "Notify me when someone quotes my posts". Tick the inline notification box to have all quoted posts added to your notification queue which is at the top and side of the forum. You can also choose to have an automated PM sent to you whenever you're quoted by ticking the Private Message box on the same page. :)
  6. So I originally got about 1/3 of the way through the first book last summer and just finally got the time to start watching the TV series now. I have been missing out on so much! xD Finished the first season and got caught up on the second season so now I'm just going back and finishing the first book. I have the boxed set of the first 4 books on order so hopefully they will arrive soon as well, I need something to hold me over between episodes and I expect I'm missing out on a lot by having not read them yet.
  7. Moving this to the Marketplace as that's where all trades/services/etc are supposed to be. We do allow trust trading services so this is within the forum rules. :)
  8. One flaw I can see with this is this would allow items to be exchanged between multiples accounts a person owns much more easily, which is something that Jagex is against currently. I like the idea but I just don't see it realistically happening unless Jagex has a change in policy stance. (Which they seem to be doing a lot lately with micro-transactions/gambling/rwt/etc so maybe it is feasible :P)
  9. Welcome to Tip.it! Just as a note it would be better if you didn't change the colour of your text/format it too much as it can be difficult to read on different forum skins. It's better just to leave it as plain text unless you really want to put emphasis on a certain part. Hope to see you posting around the forums. :)
  10. I can see its uses but the amount of times it will ever be used is so small. Also in regards to reporter credibility, an occasional wrong report every little while wont effect you much, it's only if you constantly send in bad reports that your credibility will go down.
  11. I really don't see this as effecting longer quality responses but for short "I agree" posts this would probably reduce the amount of posts like them. I'd rather have fewer, more substantial posts than a bunch of "+1, I agree, What he said" posts" anyways so I don't think it would be a huge loss. People would always be free to post a short agreeance post anyways, the like button would just be there as an option for those who want it. If it really does have huge negative impact on the forums then we can just remove it at a later date but I don't think we should hold a feature back when it's hard to really tell what the effect will be. It could end up increasing the number of longer thought out posts or it really could also have no effect at all. inaftertripsis :P
  12. You have such an awesome book collection! Old books are awesome, especially when they're such classics.
  13. I wish combat in Runescape was actually like the trailer. :/ Even though most of the trailer didn't consist of actual game footage the style actually matches the game engine fairly well and was overall awesome.
  14. Both Woody Harrelson and Elizabeth Banks took on roles because they loved the books. I know Elizabeth Banks has stated in several interviews that she personally contacted Gary Ross to be given the part. To each his own I guess, but half the actors/actresses in the movie are all huge fans (Jennifer Lawrence included) of the books and are very passionate about making a great adaptation. I can't really comment on the predictability considering I knew everything from the book but I can say there are more shocking twists in the 2nd and 3rd book.
  15. Bumping this up since the movie's just been released on Friday. I saw it a few hours ago and loved it. They really managed to capture almost everything in the book without having to do cheesy voice overs to explain everything Katniss thinks, which was something I was worried about. I came out of the theatre feeling completely satisfied, especially from things such as Lawrence's acting, the additional scenes of the gamemakers, and how well they did the emotional scenes. There was just the right mixture of Katniss' relationships with Gale/Peeta, the rebellion, and the action as well. Some little things here and there were changed/could have been a bit better but overall they didn't bother me very much. Stuff like the hovercrafts looking kind of fake was probably a result of a low budget which hopefully won't be the case for the next 3 films. Really looking forward to Catching Fire now!
  16. That would only happen if everyone else was also selling for 1gp. The GE will always match the lowest seller with potential buyers first unless my understanding is completely off.
  17. Even with a desktop, unless you have a monitor, peripherals, and an OS already you'll be hard pressed to come up with something really worth the money put into it. Of course for the OS there's always Linux but even still $300 doesn't stretch far. I'd recommend saving up around $600 to get a mediocre laptop or a fairly decent desktop.
  18. From Jagex's wiki: From the sounds of it you should be able to play again if you are a subscribing member since you were able to before.
  19. No, the whole point that's being missed is that arts students generally make less because they have other benefits (less stress, more favorable hours, less demanding jobs, more enjoyable) than say a doctor. The basic economics rate of return principle states that rates of return are equal for all things when you take into account all utility, not just wages that's being referred to in the case of jobs. Also you can't assume that raising arts tuition will cause tons of people to start studying sciences. Sure there are some people who are in arts due to not making the cut for sciences, but the majority of people have a passion for an arts program and would either pay more (which is discrimination) or not go to university at all. I don't think society would benefit from this or the fact that if people did flock to sciences, a lot of them would hate it anyways and end up miserable in their jobs.
  20. We should plan a Tip.it TF2 night. Would be fun to get a bunch of Tip.iters all on the same server together.
  21. Basically it's a computer solely dedicated to playing PC games. So instead of forking over $1000 for a nice gaming desktop you could essentially get the Steam Box instead and hook it up to a monitor or TV and play games. I can see their target audience as those with laptops/netbooks that want to play games but don't have the power to do so.
  22. Part of me is really excited and is hoping that this is true but on the other hand I'm also a little wary. Steam Box, if it was designed and priced right could provide an affordable means of getting into the PC game market which would mean more consumers = more games. On the other hand I could see this holding back game tech progress as developers focus on catering to the specs of the Steam Box instead of nextgen technology specs. Console ports have already held back some of the potential of PC games, and I just don't want to see PC games stuck on Steam Box specs for 4-5 years instead constantly getting better. If the Steam Box was given incredible specs from the get go and had a new version released every few years it might not be too bad. I can't see the cost of it being cheap though.
  23. Changing the logos/name colours/post counts ranks/making fake newsposts/etc like we've done in the past is hardly an annoyance. Considering the number of big sites that do an April Fools day prank every year if it's really that big of a problem it' would almost just be better to stay off the internet during those 24 hours. That being said we'll try our best to make sure ideas used have as little impact on users who want to ignore them but still provide some fun for those who like this sort of thing.
