  1. No, no, no! Twitter sucks. You already have a lovely website where you post all your news and you have RSS feed for these news that I can subscribe to. It's way more convenient. And I don't like how Jagex has been promoting Twitter lately, I have a feeling they get paid for that. And do you?
  2. Look, I'm a curious person, I'm not interested in the obvious "buy on GE" replies. Maybe I will, but I still want to know where they come from. I know many people don't care how others get some particular item and just buy them. I usually like to get some on my own at least to see and then if I want more and it's not worth my time doing it on my own, I buy. Thanks to everybody for the info.
  3. I managed to catch a big shark after catching about 9000 of them. It took me a long time, but maybe other people are more lucky. I also had a big bass before and it came pretty fast actually, but maybe at that time I was lucky, lol. But the answer to bare-handed part of your question: yes! You can catch the big fish if you fish without a harpoon as well! That's how I caught my big shark.
  4. Hi, I've been trying to find out something about it in many places, but nothing was particularly helpful, so I guess I'll try to ask here. What are the possible methods of obtaining Spirit Weeds or the corresponding Spirit Weed Seeds? I'm talking about the herb used for summoning potions. If these are dropped by monsters, can you tell me which ones? I don't find Bestiary very helpful for this. Spirit Weed isn't listed anywhere. Perhaps that's because things are just simplified there and there's just "Herb" in general on drop list. But it's not true that any monster dropping herbs drops this one too, because I often fight herb droppers and never get Spirit Weed. Item database doesn't help either, nor does the herblore guide. Where do those weeds/seeds come from? I'd appreciate sharing the info about all known sources of this herb.
  5. 4 minute one costs just 50k You might think that paying 500k for the one that lasts just 1 minute more (so 5 in total) is not worth it. But you pay this 500k only once and you'll never have to do it again. And that additional minute could turn out to be crucial and save you from losing much more.
  6. Yes, unfortunately it does. You can't stake anything worth over the limits.
  7. Thank you very much, you've been very helpful. ^_^ That's all I needed.
  8. Hey everybody. I would like to know something. Has any of you ever caught a Big Shark using the barbarian bare-hand fishing method? Main site claims big shark can be caught either by harpooning or barbarian fishing, but I'd be grateful for a confirmation from somebody who exprerienced it, because I've been spending a lot of time (got 5800 sharks already) and I didn't get my shark. I want to make sure it's because I'm not lucky enough, and not because it's impossible to catch one if I use bare hands.
  9. This all depends on particular skill cape. I don't think cooking 99 or fletching 99 are that impressive. The problem with quest point cape is probably that it's spoilt by quest walkthroughs. Actually, I should blame ya, tip.it, for that. :P I don't use quest guides and I still have them all done. That's quite an achievement if you do it all on your own. And it's not easier than getting a 99. To complete all quests, you still need to level all your skills decently high and you have to spend a lot of time - there are lots of them! As long as you don't have a guide open while doing a quest and you don't copy the instructions from it, you have to spend some time. But in an enjoyable way usually, most quests are fun. (Following guides gets ridiculous sometimes: click this? okay, I click... what now? ok, I talk to npc and skip all the chat... now the guide says what? ah, fill this with water, ok... does it say where to get water from? omg! they skipped important info! now there's some puzzle... click this button twice and the other one 5 times... now what? oooh, I'm supposed to open the door now! and now what? *carefully checks the guide* ooooh, go through these door I opened!) So I think Quest Point Cape isn't really easier/faster, but it's more enjoyable. Training skills is just repetition. Which is more "pro" to have? They're both cool.
  10. I believe this is just temporary. It's probably a good moment to buy the rare items and keep them until the price doubles again. :) I think it has something to do with unbalanced trades removal. I imagine plenty of people bought their santa hats together to share them. Since that won't be possible now, they might've decided to sell the hats and split the money. And as the rares started to get cheaper, many other players probably decided to get rid of theirs seeing they're losing on value and it's good to sell before they are too cheap. That made them even cheaper. These items are discontinued, so the number of them in game can't go up. This is just a moment when they started to change owners. Once everybody trades them away or buys them for themselves, the whole craze will stop and prices should go back to what they used to be. That's my opinion.
  11. Thanks for all replies. I need to reply to a couple of things though. First of all, just to let you know, I'm male. ;) mrpez, I know a bunch of ways to show affection, but Christmas is usually a time when giving presents is quite common and I also enjoy doing it. sseli, I'm not sure where you see real world trading here, I'm only talking about giving RuneScape items. And just to make things clear: if you have ideas for nice presents for P2P, share them too. I will also have to get some things for some P2P friends. I just asked for F2P there, because it seems harder to get something for F2P with so little choice they have. Eh, if only Jagex made it possible to donate membership for other player, I'd give him that.
  12. I'm creating this topic, because I wanted to ask for advice, but while I'm at it, I'll try to make this a nice discussion topic, so that it's more than just my personal question. As you all know Christmas is coming and this is probably a good time to show your RuneScape friends how you care about them by giving them some lovely Christmas presents. Many of you probably did this before and in that case you probably had this big problem: what would be a good thing for a present? Of course cash is not a good gift. You'll give somebody cash, somebody else will give you cash... I don't see much point in that. What are your ideas for good presents for friends in the game? Maybe there is something I haven't thought of. And my question: What's a good idea for a gift for a player who isn't a member anymore (so only F2P items) who already has great stuff like Saradomin armour? I would like to get him a gift that wouldn't cost me more than 500k. Any other pieces of equipment? Or maybe just a pack of items for training skills. Like some runes, arrows, ores... I really don't know what to do.
  13. Runescape Username: Rosebuster17 Country: Poland Poland rules! :)
  14. I hate the new version. Nonsense step-by-step walkthrough is exactly the opposite of what I was trying to suggest before. My opinion? Get rid of it and don't write any more. If some people really need that kind of walkthrough, and if the staff has time, I guess it can't hurt to include it as an addition, but in general I'm AGAINST. Quests are a very important part of RuneScape, they give us something more to do between training skills. Following steps in order completely disregarding what happens in the game just doesn't make sense. You play games for fun, don't you? And not to press keys in the order described in some manual. Moreover... I was looking for something better than current quest walkthroughs, because the normal, not condensed version, still contains some nonsense (examples: combination to the safe in The Feud is given straight away without explaining how to figure it out; method of winning Fishing Contest also given straight away without much sense - no explanation how this could be possibly figured out). I'd like to suggest writing Quest Storylines so that we can remind ourselves once more what was going on in some quests after finishing already. This could help us understand things we didn't quite understand at first in the twisted plot. That would also be a good place to explain how one would manage to figure out the puzzles. I heard the crew was planning to write things about RuneScape history and similar things (I see "Gods guide" in future projects), so Quest Storylines would be a nice addition too.
  15. Thanks to the lastest update, you no longer get Wildblood seeds as a reward for Temple Trekking / Burgh de Rott Ramble. You can get Watermelon seeds instead. So we need to figure out how many of them you can get. I believe the maximum number of watermelon seeds is 26. This screenshot proves I got that much as a reward: Click! I think it's max, because I got it on route 3, with medium-strong companion, but we had at least 3 combat events (not sure how many exactly though). If anybody manages to get more than 26 though, please update this info. [Wizard111111 - Thanks for confirming this. Done it myself and also got 26 seeds. Added to guide.]
  16. I mostly use calculators. They're very useful. As for guides, I'd prefer to help making them rather than reading and spoiling some fun. For example I have once and for all stopped checking Quest Guides and I don't go there at all unless I want to try to remind myself some quest I did and I don't remember anymore. Using them while doing quests ruins all fun. Other types of guides can be useful sometimes though. There are just some things Jagex won't tell me and you will. :P Oh, whole site is useful in general anyway. ^^;
  17. While it's good to be warned about this kind of scam, I must say I am concerned about the thing few people already mentioned here. This article gives an idea for scammers! Personally I'm afraid it can do more harm than good. This is why scams can't be posted on official RuneScape forums too. It's better not to help scammers learn new methods.
  18. This is still true (under prayer books there are 7 occurences) I'd like to clarify this. British spelling is "defence" and US spelling is "defense". This might sometimes cause confusion, but I'm a grammar freak. :P Do we prefer British English or American English on tip.it? [inferno_char edit: Because Jagex uses British English, so does Tip.It. The above mentioned errors were corrected a while back.]
  19. I did lots of level 1 clues yesterday and today and I found the following nice items: 2 Zamorak Pages 1 Guthix Page 2 times in a row I got Studded Chaps (g) Wizard Robe (t) Black Helm (h3) It's not too bad and it didn't take too much time. This is a very nice guide explaining how to do them pretty fast. ^_^
  20. This guide is for F2P right? Members have faster methods I think. But for F2P this could work. ^^
  21. Awesome guide!!! Good job! :) One thing... I really don't know why everybody makes this spelling mistake. It's not "alter", it's "altar". "Alter" is a verb. It means "cause to change; make different" "Altar" is a noun. It means "a raised structure on which gifts or sacrifices to a god are made". Sorry for pointing this out, but I would really like people to stop making this mistake.
  22. I also obtain level 1 clues this way, but there's just one thing I'd actually suggest there... Standing in the center of the HAM hideout and stealing there is not very convenient because they move a lot there between these chairs and your character often gets stuck behind some of this chair and doesn't know how to reach the person you want to pickpocket, so you manually have to click where you want to go and try pickpocket then. Instead of standing in the center, it's better to open some door to one of the HAM bedrooms. You don't get stuck there so often and it's even possible to stand in such postition that HAM member is blocked and he has nowhere to move to, so he/she stands in one place all the time without moving at all.
  23. You're right about this. I don't understand why some people think it's wrong to teleport. It's pretty normal you don't want to die, so you take things like ring of life and some teleports. Well, I usually go to wilderness without the will to fight and I want to have a way of escaping too. If I can avoid death by teleporting, why would I prefer to leave all teleports in bank and lose my stuff in wilderness later? Strong mages will still stop you by using teleblock though.
  24. Hm... I'm just wondering, please don't get me wrong... What could be a possible use of such guide to an average player? I mean... If somebody belongs to some PKing clan, they probably have their own internal rules and ways of communicating and giving orders and they share this code. To somebody not belonging to the environment, this could be a tip though - in case they go to wilderness and meet such clan, they'll know what they are talking about between each other. I don't know if they can make some good use of that info though. ;P Oh well, maybe I'm complaining too much. I guess this can be useful. Just one thing... Too many people seem to say "alter" instead of "altar". But "alter" is a verb meaning something like "cause to change; make different". Sorry for pointing this out, but repetitive spelling mistakes just... bother me. :P
  25. This is very useful! Not completely accurate because time you have to wait changes slightly (depends when you planted your seeds - right after a new phase of growth started or right before one. In the latter case the crops will grow slightly immidiately after planting.) and because of the fact things change if they're diseased, but it's still pretty useful. :) I think it wouldn't be a bad idea to add a similar tool on tip.it website too.
