Ranging in PVP using the wilderness ditch
Because as rudimentary my knowledge of java programming is, I do know the basics of creating game objects. As to your second argument, Madmanpur3 has already addressed this what, five times? Just because Jagex did not intend for it to be used in this fashion doesn't make it a bug. A bug, as Jagex themselves have defined it in their rules, is an ERROR IN THE SOFTWARE. Go read it yourself if you don't believe me. Since you're so into reading, here are relevant sections from the RuneScape Rules You say it has to be an error in the software, and indeed that's what it says in the rules. But the wording of the rule itself is vague. Does "errors which you find in our software" refer exclusively to literal lines of code that are messed up? Or could it encompass a broader realm of errors, both human and technical? I think its the latter. This is an oversight on Jagex's part. They did not foresee that rangers would be able to use the ditch in such a manner, and did not remove a feature that they should have. You're being very rigid in your definition of "bug". You seem to think that Jagex forgetting to take something out that they should does not qualify. If this is your problem with the whole argument, then very well! Replace the word "bug" with the phrase "abuse of game mechanics to obtain unfair advantages" and maybe that will satiate you?

So you listed another thing done wrong that Jagex should fix? Are you saying that something shouldn't be fixed because something else hasn't been fixed? That's hardly productive. Did I say I did? No. In fact I said the opposite. No one has it. So no one can honestly say "Jagex intended rangers to be able to shoot over this ditch". YOU are the person who cannot make your argument legitimate. The way you're talking you AREN'T voicing your theory. You and other proponents for this bug are voicing their opinions as FACTS and presenting them as such. No one can claim to know Jagex's intentions like you are doing. With this, you destroy your own argument. You argue that Jagex intended, when they put the ditch in, that they WANTED rangers to be able to attack over this ditch. How could Jagex WANT rangers to be able to use it to hide in PVP worlds, while at the same time they didn't even have plans to MAKE PVP worlds?

Ranging in PVP using the wilderness ditch
Everyone who says that Jagex specifically decided to allow rangers to shoot over the ditch, HOW ON EARTH DO YOU KNOW?! Were you working with RuneScape programmers? Did you have an interview with Andrew Gower? Do you possess an uncanny ability to read people's minds to find their intentions from nearly a year ago? And even if they DID specifically allow players to range over the ditch, they never thought that players would be able to fight each other across the ditch, as it was not in the wilderness. Jagex might have made it so that players could shoot guards or skeletons. But I can guarantee you that while that ditch was being programmed, no one at Jagex said to themselves "I'll make players able to shoot over this ditch so that a year from now, if we decide to make worlds PVP, it can give players using ranged an enormous advantage."

Duplicating quest items
I'm not sure what you mean by this, but I'll tell you exactly what I tried. I went to Diminithes in Varrock and committed suicide. I ran back and saw the gloves on the ground. I got a replacement pair from Diminithes, then tried to pick up the pair on the ground. It said I couldn't pick them up, so then I tried to telegrab them. It said they could not be telegrabbed.

Duplicating quest items
I've been trying to get 2 of every item I can for organizing my bank, and I've encountered a problem... quest items! There is a small amount of items that I haven't figured out how to get duplicates for. For most of these I have tried 2 tricks to get undroppable items onto the ground. One is the suicide trick where I kill myself with nitro glycerine while carrying the item plus 3 valuable items. Another is trying to obtain the item while my inventory was full. I was wondering if anyone knows how I can go about getting more than one of the following: [*:u83rqeup]Chaos Gauntlets (suicide trick gets the gloves on the ground, but they cannot be picked up or telegrabbed if you have a second set, as such I haven't bothered to try the full inv method) [*:u83rqeup]Prayer book (can drop the book and get a new one, but the one you dropped cannot be picked up or telegrabbed) [*:u83rqeup]Omni-talisman/tiara (haven't tried anything yet) [*:u83rqeup]Karamja gloves 3 (doesn't appear on the ground with the suicide trick, NPC says you don't have room with the full inv trick) [*:u83rqeup]Varrock armor 3 (same as Karamja gloves 3) [*:u83rqeup]Explorer ring 3 (same as Karamja gloves 3) [*:u83rqeup]Crystal Saw (haven't tried anything yet) [*:u83rqeup]Amulet of nature (haven't tried anything yet) [*:u83rqeup]Ectophial (haven't tried anything yet) [*:u83rqeup]Magic secateurs (doesn't appear on the ground with the suicide trick, the full inv trick gets it on the ground, but when you receive your second set the first set on the ground instantly disappears) [*:u83rqeup]Broomstick (same as Karamja gloves 3) [*:u83rqeup]Seal of passage (same as Karamja gloves 3) [*:u83rqeup]God cape (from Mage Arena) (I know that the suicide and full inventory tricks won't work so I haven't tried them) I expect such a request for help might raise issues about bug abuse, but there's no benefit to be gained by having 2 of these, and in fact there is a thread in the Archive of Wisdom about this type of stuff. So I don't think its an issue!

If someone wants to PK there they should be able to do that without these rangers abusing bugs. We shouldn't avoid our favorite place to pk because of these guys.

Ranging in PVP using the wilderness ditch
When you put it like that its like you're saying they should be impossible to hit, which is of course not true. If you had read the post you would know that the ranger is NOT running away. He is continually jumping over the ditch to avoid the meleer while ATTACKING him. If the ranger were just hopping over the ditch to run away, I would have NO problem with it. No meleer can one-hit a ranger unless said meleer is 50+ levels above the ranger in question. And if this is the case, the ranger SHOULD get one-hitted. If the ranger is not willing to get hit they will not follow you away from the ditch, its like a crutch for them. Since the ranger won't follow the battle will just have been a waste of time and food for the meleer. It needs to be taken away. No one here is saying that rangers should not be able to uses NORMAL SAFESPOTS. The ditch is NOT a normal safespot. And you say that using the ditch is equivalent to meleers using armor? That's bogus. The ditch completely prevents the rangers from being hit while they attack the meleer. The meleers armor provides defense against the attack but does NOT make them invulnerable. This is the best part! :twss: You talk about the triangle, then you go on to mention that "Rangers have always had problems against melee". Well guess what! If you take into account the combat triangle, then rangers are SUPPOSED to be weak against meleers!

28 October 2008 - Hallowe'en Event and Quest
To all those who are having trouble with the puzzles here are the complete solutions. I think its noble, zaaps1, that you try to post the METHOD of solving things, but that's a lot of work for the lazy people around here (like me!) so I did the quest on a throw-away account and recorded the solutions. This is the solution for completing the FIRST part to get Betty's wand. 1. Blackbird to holding pen 2. Rat to blackbird pen 3. Spider to spider pen 4. Lizard to reptile pen 5. Rat to rat pen 6. Blackbird to blackbird pen. This is the solution to getting the unguent. The beasts reset to their original positions when you finished the first part, so from there... 1. Blackbird to holding pen 2. Reptile to Blackbird pen 3. Rat to Rat pen 4. Snail to Reptile pen 5. Spider to Spider pen 6. Bat to Snail pen 7. Reptile to Bat pen 8. Spider to Blackbird pen 9. Snail to Spider pen 10. Rat to Reptile pen 11. Spider to Rat pen 12. Reptile to Blackbird pen 13. Bat to Bat pen 14. Snail to Snail pen 15. Reptile to Spider pen 16. Spider to Blackbird pen 17. Rat to Rat pen 18. Reptile to Reptile pen 19. Spider to Spider pen 20. Blackbird to Blackbird pen Done!

Ranging in PVP using the wilderness ditch
Agility shortcuts require an agility level to use, and often can't be shot over such as the ones in the castle walls. The wilderness ditch requires no skill levels to use.
